Ipod touch 5th gen not restoring? Unknown Error 14?

My ipod touch 5th generation (which I've only had for a little over a week) stopped being able to sync with iTunes and told me that i need to restore it. I tried other options first (making sure firewall was letting itunes through, updateing itunes, updating ipod, turning ipod on and off), but finally i had to restore it thorughitune. Now iTunes keeps getting an unknown error 14 and telling me to retry restore. I've done it 3 times now and it still isn't working. Is there anything i can do? I can't even use my ipod at all now, it keeps telling me to connect to itunes but itunes wont accept it. HALP.

You'd better take it to Genius Bar, I think.

  • Why does my ipod touch 5th gen not charge when plugged into my computer? (it keeps stuttering(lightning symbol next to bettery goes on and off literally every second))

so I have my ipod touch 5th gen connect and the little lightning symbol, next to the battery on the top left, keeps flashing on and off every second. I don't know what to do and also it doesn't show up on iTunes.

Hey Ed, Try trouble shooting 101. Do you have a different cable and/or charging device? If so, try the different cable first, then a different charging device. If the problem goes away, I'd say it's the cable, replace it. If with in 1 from date of purchase, Apple will replace for free if the cable is found to be defective. If the problem continues with a different cable or a different charging device, then the problem is with your iPod. With a strong light and a magnifying glass look in the iPod's charging port. Your looking for damage in and around the port. Is the port lose? (shouldn't be). Are pieces missing or damaged? Bent or damaged contact pins can do what you describe. Foreign debris, namely pocket lint or corrosion can also cause charging issues. If you see something like lint, try to blow it out, or if you must use a non-conductive probe, I find a round wooden toothpick works well to carefully remove the lint from the bottom of the port. Just be careful to not touch, bend or damage the gold contact pins on the long side of the port. Also make sure the locking pins on the short ends (looks like two silver bumps, one on each end) of the port are free to move. If you find corrosion, try plugging / unplugging about 12 times to clean the contacts off. If you must use a cotton swab cut to fit, with a drop of 91% isopropyl alcohol on it, you want it damp, not wet, then plug it in and out until the swab comes out clean. You will most likely need several swabs. If you find nothing physically wrong, then try resetting your iPod. If that does not work, restore from backup, last resort, make a backup then restore to new, a full factory restore. If issue continues see your Apple store and have it evaluated for a possible hardware issue. But start with a different or new cable. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Why does my Ipod touch 5th gen not sync podcasts with my Windows Itunes? Both are up to date with versions.

I didn't see this asked so sorry if this is a duplicate question.
In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
    Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance.

  • HT1386 iPod Touch 5th Gen not sync music on iTunes

    Hi,
Have just bought an iPod Touch 5th Gen.
When I sync with iTunes I get my podcasts without any problem but I do not get any of my music. It claims "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including ..., were not copied to the iPod Touch because they could not be found"
I am using iTunes 10.7.0.21 and ipod touch is version 6.0.1.
    Thanks
    Mike

Go onto iTunes on your computer and go to your music and right click them and delete them.
When your done, go to iTunes store --> purchased (it's on the side on the right) -> music and click on the cloud.
    OR
On your iPod, do iTunes app -> More -> Purchased -> Music -> look for your artist and tap the cloud.

  • IPod touch 5th gen not responding

The screen on my iPod touch 5th gen froze for 5 minutes so I restarted it but the screen went blank and the apple logo did not appear. I've tried restarting it but no matter what I do, the iPod still will not respond. Help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch 5th gen not detected in mac os 10.8.2

    Hi
My ipod touch 5 gen with ios 6.0.2 is not detected in mac mini with 10.8.2. It is working with all other PCs and mac except my mac. I tried all the posible trobleshootings found in the internet, still it is not working.

Hi Bruce, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I can't find the PCI card, just the PCIe card...

But on a hunch, System Preferences>Network, unlock the Lock if need be, see if you get New Port Detected, or click the little + icon and see if you can add Ethernet.
If it works & that is the Interface used for Internet, click on the little Gear icon>Set Service Order, drag Ethernet to the top.

  • Ipod touch 5th gen, not showing on device but are on itunes

    Hi,
I have a 5th gen Ipod touch 64GB and when you connect it to my PC and bring up the list of music on my device on itunes, it shows albums which are not appearing on the actual device itself when its not connected to the computer. Can anyone explain this?
How do you turn off automatic sync because it seems to only show the songs which are on my itunes library on the PC which is useless to be honest.
    Thanks,
    Skerfy5.

If not the U2 album then
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • IPod Touch 4g does not restore/update - error 3194

    Hello,
I've recently been having a great deal of trouble with my 64GB iPod Touch 4g, which I purchased in maybe late March or early April of this year. I consider myself adequately learned in technology and I've done a vast amount of research into this problem, and have not been able to resolve it, so I took it upon myself to ask my question here.
Firstly, I am running iTunes on a Windows 7 64-bit system, and I should note that I have found lots of answers to similar problems for people with jailbroken iPod Touches, but I don't think these solutions would work for me since I have not jailbroken my iPod. I have also not yet upgraded to iOS 6, but was on the latest version of iOS (5.x...I don't remember). Also, I bought my iPod from Amazon so obviously the 30-day return window has expired.
Anyway, on to the problem. Yesterday, my iPod froze and so I reverted to the 'hard reboot' method of fixing it by pressing the home key and the sleep key at the same time, and released when the Apple logo showed up. I waited for the device to reboot as it normally does, except that in all the previous times I have done this hard reboot, while the Apple logo shows up for a little while until the lock screen loads, this time that did not happen. Instead, there were colored bars that showed up on the screen (I don't know how to describe it, exactly) that eventually covered up the Apple logo and faded into a completely white screen. From this screen, I tried the hard reboot again and the Apple logo showed up again, only to be covered up by those bars and fading into white again. I tried rebooting it a few more times, but to no avail.
I then opened iTunes and plugged in my iPod, but it was not recognised by the computer (presumably because it was not fully on), so I tried putting the device in DFU recovery mode (hold the sleep key and home key until the device tells you to connect to iTunes). At this point, iTunes seemed to recognize that a device was plugged in, but not that it was my iPod because where it normally gives you the information (my iPod, Capacity: ...., Serial number: ... and so forth), the information just read 'iPod' (not 'My iPod', as it was named before this unfortunate event), 'Capacity: n/a, Serial number: n/a', and so forth. I pressed the 'restore' button and there was an error, 3194, on the step 'Verifying restore with Apple'.
So I went to Google, looking up troubleshooting tips for this particular error, and most of the answers I found were just for people with jailbroken iPods, even though mine isn't jailbroken. I have tried numerous solutions (updating the hosts file in drivers, turning off the firewall, etc) to no avail, and I still get that pesky white screen whenever I try to reboot my device.
I'm also worried that even if I get my device to restore successfully, then it still might not boot up properly. To be honest, I'm a little more worried about the booting problem than the restoring problem.
Does anyone have any advice for what I should do in this situation, other than visit the Apple store? There is one in my town but I feel like I've invested a lot in this device and I don't want to pay too much for any repairs that may need to be done (especially considering that this appears to be a software issue and not a hardware one); I'm a high school student and don't have that much money.
    Thank you for any help.

  • Ipod Touch 5th Gen Not Charging - FIXED

I'm pretty tech savy but couldn't figure out why my 5th Gen Ipod Touch with the Lightning connector would not charge when plugged in via USB. Sometimes wiggling the connector would work but eventually it had stopped. I've tried blowing into the the connector port of the Ipod, I've even used a magnifying glass to inspect for damaged pins and what not and could not find anything wrong.
Eventually I decided to take a toothpick and scrape the internal Ipod connector hoping that it would clean any dirty contacts, doing so revealed that my connector port was loaded with lint from my pants pocket. I ended up picking out a good amount of lint that was not noticeable using the magnifying glass and not affected by blowing into the port of the Ipod Touch, after removing the obstruction the Ipod now charges normally.
NOTE: Do NOT attempt this cleaning method using a metal object such as a pin due to the risk of shorting out the unit, a wooden toothpick worked perfect for my situation.
    Hope this method helps someone.

    Good advice Jem24,
I would like to add when using compressed air when cleaning out any electronic device, please make sure the device is completely cooled down and not hot to the touch, Hot solid state components do not like cold compressed air and will damage the solid state chips if cooled too quickly. I found this out the hard way by blowing dust out of my desktop pc's and damaging the power supply components inside.

  • Why is my iPod touch 5th gen not responding?

I pushed the sleep/wake button and then I came back to use it. It didn't respond when I pushed the home button and the sleep/wake button and I've tried turning it on. That doesn't work and my iPod is completely unresponsive and blank. I've connected it to my computer and opened iTunes and iTunes didn't register my iPod. I've tried plugging it in and charging it but it didn't respond and remained completely blank. Would be great if someone could help. cheers Daniel

  • IPod touch 5th Gen. not connecting to iTunes over wifi

    Hi
My iPod touch has suddenly, in the last few days stoped being able to sync with the contents of my iMac over wifi. In the options part when a Device is conected to iTunes, there is a check box which I always have ticked. I have unticked this box and resynced, then reticked this box and resynced, but this has not worked. The only was to get music on to my iPod which I have on my iMac is to connect it the old fashion way with a cable.
The iPad mini has stayed connected. Both Devices are running iOS 8.2. I don't know what has done wrong

Thank you for your swift help. I think you should go to Level 11 just for helping me solve my problem.

  • If I back up my ipod  touch 5th gen and restore, will the new copy be exactly the same?

I want to update my ipod to ios 8, but ther is not enough room. I am not willing to delete apps, so I figured that I would backup and restore after the update, which I have never done, and I was wondering if the restore would save everything, like game data and folder locations, so it would be like it never changed. If someone could please clarify, that would be great

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps and other iTunes purchases will be automatically downloaded. Non-iTunes purchases like music from CD will be restored. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Why does my iPod Touch 5th Gen not go back to sleep after a notification?

No matter what notification it is, my iPod will stay with the screen lit for forever, just resting on the lock screen. I have to physically hit the sleep button to put it back into sleep. I have the auto-lock set for two minutes, and it's now beginning to not even auto lock after that. Anyone run into this? Thanks!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
