IPod touch 5th gen restore from backup error

I backed up my 2nd gen and all my music to my computer, and now I'm trying to set up my new 5th gen by restoring from back up, but every time it restarts after restoring it goes back to the start of the set up again where you select language and connect to wifi etc. Why is this happening??

IPod touch 4th gen (restore problem, unknown error 9)

So I was using an app on my iPod touch, but then suddenly the screen froze and turned white. Then it would shut off and get to the apple logo, then slowly fade out to all white and restart. This happened continuously and I couldn't get it to stop when I pressed the home and lock buttons.
I've had this ipod for almost two months now. My last experience with my 3rd generation iPod touch, I had never come across a situation like this.
Somehow I was able to get the screen to show the iTunes logo & the iPod USB pointing at it. I assume this is what you would call going into restore mode? I cannot get out of that screen no matter what I press.
What's more disturbing is that when I inserted the USB cable from my iPod to my laptop, the info I get from iTunes shows "n/a" for the name, capacity, software version, and serial number. I have the latest iTunes installed
I tried to restore it and went through the following steps over and over again, but I keep getting the same response, "The iPod 'iPod' could not be restored because of an unknown error (9)."

- Verifying iPod restore with Apple
- Preparing iPod for Restore (at this point the iPod turns off and back on for the next step, if I'm not mistaken)
Once a progress bar shows up on my iPod touch screen, a few seconds later the screen turns white (freezes) and a notice from iTunes pops up with the response that I got an error and iPod could not be restored because of unknown error 9.
I've tried this repeatedly so many times already, but I'm getting no luck on how this problem should be solved.
Should I bring this to an Apple store for their help?

IPod Touch 5th Gen Overheating and Wont Turn On

I got my new iPod Touch 5th gen today from best buy. I turned it on, got it all set up, then left it charging for about 30-40 minutes. While I was looking through the features I felt it getting warmer and warmer. Eventually the touchscreen would stop responding for a minute and sometimes shut off. Now whenever I turn it on, it shows the apple logo and then shuts off completely. And when I put it on the charger, it just flashes the apple logo(I presume this is from the charger trying to turn it on, and the ipod turning itself off automatically).
I really want this to be fixed soon because I would like to use this over some long airplane trips i have.

Please help. I cant do anythin!

Your friend may have placed the ipod next to an object that repeatedly pressed the screen. Under certain circumstances this can lead to what appears to the iTouch to be failed attempts to access the system. After repeated failed attempts, the Touch increases the waiting time required for the password and may ultimately lock in the way you describe.

What error do you see when you connect it? This support document provides instructions on how to recover an iDevice that has been disabled because of a forgotten passcode. TS4062 I just received a new replacement Ipod touch 5th gen and restored it from cloud. It is showing up in my computer but not in itunes.

I restored a new ipod touch 5th gen from my cloud and cannot get it to connect to itunes on my computer. I restarted my computer and ipod. I reinstalled Itunes and It still won't show up in itunes. My computer recoginizes it but not itunes.

i keep getting an error when i plug in my new ipod touch 5th gen. Itunes could not backup ipod because the ipod is disconnected. my ipod is not disconnected its connected. ive tried following some of the other posts and that didnt help. its only 2 weeks old.

Try rebooting the computer and resetting the iPod.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another USB port
- Try another cable. Some users have reported defects with the cable that came with the Lightning cable that came with the iPod (and iPhone 5)

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Then when I restored my ipod, that is all that downloaded onto the ipod as well. Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media. You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else. As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC. Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

I purchased an ipod touch 5th gen today and have had no luck getting my music onto it from itunes. Everytime I attempt to sync it either reads "internal device error" or "could not sync with this ipod as it was unable to be read from". I have tried restoring it twice with no luck. Help!

What happens when you try to restore?
Have yu tried another cable
Try on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over half a year now, haven't had any issues until now. Yesterday it randomly shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, the apple logo shows up but the iPod just stays on that screen, it doesn't turn on any further. I think I might need to restore it to the factory settings to get it to work again, but I'm concerned that I'm going to lose all my photos. I found the backup folder in my computer but it doesn't have any files in it. I have over 600 pictures on my iPod and I really don't want to lose them all. Is there a way that I can either get my iPod to work again without restoring, or a way that I can extract the photos without the iPod actually being in functioning condition? The computer doesn't recognize the device when it gets connected via the USB. Thanks!

and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.

Last week i changed the password of my ipod touch 5th gen and I couldnt get back in so I put my ipod touch on recovery mode and now ive lost all of my 3000 photos. Is there any way to recover them? Everything else is recovered.

When I connect my iPod to my Mac Book Pro laptop my music that I've transferred to my iPod and music playlist will appear in my iTunes my music will play with no problem.
