Ipod Touch 64 gig stuck in recovery mode (never jailbroken)...

Hi,
I have used my Ipod Touch for music and for the NYT app. I have never dropped my touch and have always been very careful with it and have never jailbroken it. Recently I used my touch until the battery ran out. So, I went to my pc(Vista Basic 64bit) and plugged im my touch to charge it. At first it came up normally, I disconnected it after 30 min, to check something, got the message that battery power was at our below 20% so I reconnected it and let it charge. I came back later and it had the restore icon displayed on the touch's screen. So, I tried restoring it and got a message after it tried restoring the software that, "The Ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occured(2009)." So, I tried restoring it using my two different Macbook Pros and got the same error. I went to apple's support page and tried restarting the smc(I can't remember the name exactly) on one of the macbooks, turned off the mac, pulled the power cord, held in the power for 5 seconds, then reattached the power cord. I then tried to restore the touch and got the same error. I want to mention that I have done the whole hold the home button and connecting the usb cable and the hold the home button and the sleep/wake button. Do anyone know what else I can do, my warranty is not good anymore on this? Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation stuck in recovery mode

My daughter got an iPod Touch 3rd Generation for Christmas which was on version 3.1.1. iTunes told us an update to 3.1.2 was available and would we like to update it, we selected yes. The update downloaded and then the iPod wouldn't restore and is stuck in recovery mode with the iTunes symbol and the USB on the screen and giving us an error message 1604. We have tried different ways to get it to restore but it wants to update it to 3.1.2 which apparently has a problem with it. How can we get it to restore back to 3.1.1?

I had the same problem yesterday. I tried restoring countless times, reinstalling iTunes... teh whole nine yards. I eventually called Apple, they didn't know what was wrong with it either.
Unfortunately, its the Touch, not iTunes... you are going to have to return it to where you bought it, and exchange it for a new one. Call Apple, and they will give you a number to give to the store. Alternately, you can go to an Apple store, if you bought it at a retailer (Best Buy, Walmart, ect.) and see what they can do.
    Best of luck! ~*~

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen stuck in recovery mode, no error message!

I have an iPod Touch stuck in recovery mode. It has a picture of a usb cord pointing to the iTunes symbol. When I plug it into a computer it says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." So i did. After it had finished it came up with that message again! Also I've tried using DFU mode and it didn't work. Suggestions?

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • My iPod Touch 3G is stuck in recovery mode.

I've tried different ports, I've disabled firewall and completely uninstalled antivirus and anti-spyware... I've used shift restore, I've tried DFU mode, no other computer to try it on, though.... I'm completely stuck.  I have Windows 7 running most recent itunes.  I go through this every time there's an update and eventually it would just finally take, but this is a new computer and I've honestly spent every moment that I'm home trying to get this update through.

  • My iPod Touch 4 is stuck in recovery mode & iTunes doesn't recognize it

I ran an IOS Software Update on my Ipod Touch 4, during which the Ipod totally locked up. Then the iTunes icon appeared on the screen, with a power cord symbol. I plugged it into the computer, and opened up iTunes. iTunes said the iPod was in recovery mode and that it could only open it if it was restored. I ran restore, which I was very hesitant to do; but I had no other option.  It took a very long time, but appeared to be working properly, no error messages appeared during the restore. It took hours to restore.. At the end of the restore process, I expected the iPod to reboot or another screen to come up on the iTunes page on the PC. Instead, nothing changed. The iTunes page stayed the same, the iPod stayed the same, with the same "iTunes" screen. After an hour,  I unplugged it.  I went online for a solution, followed the instructions to put it into DFU mode after iTunes quit recognizing it altogether when I plug it in. The iPod screen is still stuck on the "recovery mode" screen.  I have the most current version of iTunes on the PC, running it on a Windows PC with Vista.  I love my iPod and ran the software update for maintenance, and instead it locked it up and made it unusable.  It is no longer covered under warranty. I tried the health check with Apple, but they can't communicate with the iPod because it's in recovery mode.  Please help!  I live in a town with no Apple store.

  • Ipod Touch 3G is stuck in recovery mode, but Itunes wont recognize it.

    Hey,
yesterday evening, I updated to iTunes 10 and then after that updated my Ipod touch to the latest OS 4.0.2. somewhere along the way during my ipod updating, the cord got pulled out of my PC and I quickly plugged it back in. but it said there was an error during the installation and now my ipod is stuck in recovery (shows the logo and then the itunes and usb screen. it is recognized by my pc just fine, but says its in recovery mode. yet my itunes will not recognize that it is plugged in at all. So I can't even try and fix the problem via itunes. there seems to be nothing to do. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I think it has something with iTunes and not just the PC.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen stuck in recovery mode loop and unable to restore

    Hello,
I attempted to download and update my iPod to IOS 8 wirelessly on the release date Sept. 17.  After a few hours of downloading, I plugged my iPod into its charger to allow for the installation to complete.  I went out for a few hours that evening and returned to find my iPod touch with the recovery mode image (cord hooking up to iTunes).  At first i tried to kick it out of recovery mode by using some 3rd party applications.  Every time that happened, it would reset my iPod only to return to the previous image (cord hooking up to iTunes).  After this, I gave up trying to just kick it out of recovery mode and just restore it using iTunes.  For the last 3 days, I have continuously  attempted to restore my iPod but i am never able to successfully download the software.  I have received multiple errors regarding "failure to connect to update serves" or "session has timed out".  Most of the time,I ca't even get to the Terms and Agreements popup.  The window simply says "attempting to connect to update server."  In the extremely rare case that I get passed the terms and agreements pop up and begin the download,  the approximate wait time always exceeds 80 hours, and then an error is detected shortly after stating the  "failure to connect to update serves" and "session has timed out" errors.
I would simply like to be able to restore my device and make it usable so it is not a metal and glass "brick".  Any help in this matter is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • IPod touch 3rd gen stuck in recovery mode and iTunes cannot fix it

i have an ipod touch 3rd generation with firmware 4.3.4. i was recently playing an app whe all of the sudden my ipod just shuts off. i held the power button but it would not turn on. then i tried just holding and pressing and holding the power and home button on my ipod touch trying to get it to turn back on. eventually the apple logo appeared and i felt relieved. however the usb and itunes screen popped up so i plugged my ipod touch into my computer and tried to restore it. when i plugge my ipod touch in a message popped up telling me that my ipod touch was in recovery mode and had to be restored. so i clicked on restore and waited for my ipod to restore. then another message popped up. it said that my ipod was not approved from apple to be restored. i had no idea what was going on so i did some research. i found that other people have seen an error pop up but with an error number. my error displayed no error number. i thought to myself that that was strange so i tried to restore my ipod agian. then i realized when i clicked on my ipod in itunes that my ipod summery was wierd. the name of my ipod was ipod and the capacity and serial number etc. said n/a. what is wrong with my ipod and how do i fix it? i miss my ipod.
