Ipod Touch Acts like a Camera?

Anyone else had this experience? Today my Touch wigged out on me and started acting like a camera. Everytime I touched the power/on/off button you could hear a shutter sound like a camera takng a picture.
I plugged it into my computer and it found new hardware - apple camera?
It doesnt have a camera. THe "pictures" it took are screen shots of the song playing when this happened and another one was my wallpaper page.
Very strange indeed. I've had this for 2 years or so and never seen anything like this. Any ideas?

waaaait. when you click the sleep button, there ISN'T supposed to be a little shutter sound? b/c mine has done that since i first got it like 2months ago.
yes there is. pressing the home and sleep button creates a 'screenshot' and a shutter sound is heard.

  • IPod touch showing up as camera in iPhoto

iPod touch showing up as camera in iPhoto, I never noticed this before, should it be doing this? not a big deal just noticed it.

i think the reason for this is that the ipod touch (with the updated firmware) is now capable of saving pictures fond online through safari (i really like this feature - i can instantly add pictures to my ipod's album without having to deal with itunes/my computer). then, when you plug your ipod into your computer, i think you now also have the option of uploading those saved images from your ipod to your computer.

  • Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How do I change this so itunes can see it?

Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How can I change the device in windows, so that i can re-register it as an ipod and itunes can connect with it.?

It is normal for the iPod to be seen as a camera since that is how one gets photo off the iPod.  You can turn it off by:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Disabling digital camera notification in Windows XP
To get iTunes to see you iPod see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you previoulys installed camera or scanner software that may be causing the problem.

  • How do I hide the dot on time bar when playing music on an iPod touch 5g like its hidden on an iPhone 4S?

    Hello,
I've been stumped after updating and syncing both iPhone 4S and iPod touch 5G in regards to hiding the time bar counter when music is playing. On the iPhone 4S it's easy by tapping once the album artwork. However the iPod touch 5g is a problem child. I tried tapping once. Nothing happened. Double tap and the album flipped over. I even researched online on how to do it but couldn't find anything. Can the time counter be hidden on iPod touch 5g like it can on an iPhone 4S? Any advice, tips, info is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Right click on a movie(in iTunes), and click "get info" then go to album artwork and add the artwork that you want...

  • Does the new ipod touch have the same camera optics as the iphone 4S?

Does the new iPod Touch have the same camera optics as the iPhone 4S?

Thank you for your reply. But once again if you can clarify please: Let's say I want to purchase the new white iPod Touch (introduced October 2011), will it have the 8 MP camera and improved optics? I'm wondering because I love to take photos and use photo-sharing apps, and I've read so many great reviews on the outstanding camera of the iPhone 4S - but I can't afford the iPhone just yet (also because of my current phone contract) so I was wondering if the newest iPod Touch camera is the same as iPhone 4S. I have the iPod Touch 4th gen, the one introduced Sept 2010, and as you may know that camera isn't the best. I just want to take better photos to share.
    Thank you.

Try to do a hard reboot (no data is lost) by holding down the home and power buttons at the same time untilyou see the Apple logo. Then, let go of both buttons. If that doesn't work, try restoring your iPod and do NOT restore from a backup. This will erase your data, but you can sync back everything except app data and settings from iTunes.

  • I have this iPod touch 3rd gen (without camera, right?).. What is its updated ios?

I have this iPod touch 3rd gen (without camera, right?).. What is its updated ios?

Then you most likely have a 2nd generation. To confirm, check the model number on the back. if it is A1288, it is a 2nd gen and can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

  • Windows 7 running PC thinks my iPod Touch is a digital camera?

Hi everyone. I've had my second generation iPod Touch for over 2 years now. I originally had it synced up with iTunes on a laptop running Windows Vista, and it worked perfectly. I then switched it to a new laptop, running Windows 7. That laptop let me transfer everything fine, and let me play, add and remove music and apps (in other words, it worked fine). Then, that laptop had some problems (the hard drive fried itself and I had to get it replaced.) When I got the laptop up and running again it was like it was a new laptop. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (10.2.2 is what I have on here now) but the laptop is recognizing my iPod as a digital camera instead. To be clear, my iPod shows up in iTunes and I can play music, but it won't let me put the music from my iPod into My Library, and it won't let me add or remove songs. I've tried updating the drivers in my Device Manager but that seems to not work. I've also changed the Autoplay settings on my iPod, but that also didn't work. Please help! I'm getting to the point where I want to chuck my iPod out the window and just buy a new one!

  • IPod touch connects as a camera???

I was setting up a friends iPod touch and when connected to her XP machine the computer reads it as a digital camera. iTunes does not see the device. XP recognizes it as an "Apple iPod" but still treats it like a cam. It was originally set up on my laptop also running XP and when hooked back to it the iPod works properly, it also works perfect hooked to my G5 running Tiger. What is causing this. The two windows comps are running identical versions of iTunes.

I did a reset on the iPod. The one where you erase everything... That didnt work. I'm guessing it needs to be restored, but the only way I know how to do that is through iTunes. Since iTunes does not recognize the iPod on the desireded xp machine I'm guessing I'd need to use my G5 to do this since the problem seems to stem from trying to use two different comps running xp?? Its problems like this that reafirms my love of OSX.

  • Ipod touch recognized as a Camera!

I am using windows XP, have the latest software installed.
When i plug in my ipod, it says it's a camera.
I have disabled the message that pops up.
It is not recognized by itunes.
Or is there a way to get around the part where it asks me to plug in to itunes?

I spoke with Apple yesterday regarding my problem with my ipod Touch, and she thought it was because my computer was recognizing my Touch as a camera (unfortunately that was not my problem). This is what I can remember that she said that you need to do:
    Start
    Control Panel
    Printers and other Hardware
    Scanners and other cameras
    Right click on your ipod
I apologize that I do not remember the exact steps after that but it was something like telling it to stop or ignore. She was going very quickly. I thought I would say something since this is what Apple had told me even if it is not the complete fix. Maybe if follow the instructions up to that point, and when you right click, you may see something that makes sense. It sounded like it was a well known problem. It defintely had something to do with the way XP was recognizing your Touch, and it had to be fixed within the Windows system.
Sorry about the incomplete instructions, but I thought that at least a point in the right direction was better that going in circles.
