IPod touch and 80 gb classic in one iTunes? Possible?

Bought my iTouch today, and i have a fully loaded 80 gig classic, i want to use the touch for work and stuff and manually select music to go on it, and the girl at the apple store said i could sync both to one iTunes, which i didnt think you could do. Can anyone confirm this?

If you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect your new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions to register and name it. It will connect to iTunes and prompt you to automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like. You can leave it at manual update or choose to sync music - selected playlists. iTunes will recognise each device that you add and they will have their own settings.

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device. You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

ok i select th e music from my music libary and go to file and click sync to my ipod and when it gets to step 3.. it says waiting for changes to be made.. yes the songs play on the itunes .. and no it wasnt the same computer i used last time

Transfer the iTunes folder from your old computer to your new computer. It's in your My Music >> iTunes folder. You'll probably need an external hard drive to do this. Make sure you upgrade the old and the new computers to the latest iTunes before transferring your music to the new machines.

I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.

It won't be a problem. You can use an 'unlimited' number of devices (iPods, iPhones etc) on a single iTunes account.
I rushed off to O2 on Friday after work and got myself an iPhone.
I backed up the iPod touch first (which was running 3.0 by that time) and then activated the iPhone using the iPod touch backup. Pretty much everything synced across exactly as it was on the touch (i.e. all Apps and paid apps), notes etc. One app I had never got to run on the iPod (iOSMaps) suddenly appeared on the iPhone too. Much like when you get a new Mac you find that all your settings and windows are preserved. When I opened Safari on the iPhone the last two pages I'd been looking at on the iPod were open. The only things that didn't sync were my emails - which of course downloaded shortly after the account details were synced (this is as expected), the iPhone suddenly being named 'iPod touch', my home WiFi password didn't sync and my email signature (not surprisingly still read - Sent from my iPod touch'.)

No.
Iphone will sync with one and only one computer at a time. If you sync to another, then it will first erase the current content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.

IPod Touch and iPad Not Recognized by iTunes

When I plug in my iPod Touch and iPad, iTunes does not open, but both devices are recognized by Windows 7. When I open iTunes manually, there is no listing for "Device" at all. I need help getting my computer and ipod to update to the new version. i have a 3rd generation 32 gb ipod touch and have tried deleting the itunes off my computer and downloading the 12.1. still when i plug in my ipod it only goes to 5.1

I'm in the same situation and think 5.5.1 is the latest our iPods will take. I just had to Reset & Restore, and I couldn't restore two apps that now require iOS 7.1.

Ipod Touch and Windows 7 64 Bit - Itunes not recognizing

I have Windows 7 64 bit operating system. I have been struggling with getting my Itunes and Ipod touch to work together - somewhere an update or upgrade screwed things up.
Right now, I have Itunes 10 64 bit installed on my computer. When I plug in the Ipod touch to sync, I get a message in Itunes telling me that this Ipod requires the 64 bit Itunes and I need to remove and reinstall the 64 bit version of Itunes.
Needless to say, I've removed and reinstalled the 64 bit version 3 times. Still won't recognize my Ipod Touch.

Well ... After about 3 months of searching, going to the apple Genius bar... (seriously they wanted me to delete my stuff... I couldn't live without my books I downloaded from drinkmalk.com which is now defunct)
So.. I am running a Dell Studio 1557 Windows 7 (no SP installed yet), 64 Bit and I own a 3rd Generation Ipod Touch, 32 Gig and had many of the same problems. In my case... I was able to update software, but I couldn't sync music onto my ipod or transfer purchases I would get: Internal Device error, operation failed... etc etc.. .every sync error you can think of...
MAGIC FIX (For me.. and other users)
1. There is a known bug that says its a chipset issue (Just google Ipod sync chipset issues and realize you aren't alone)... Most likely you don't Have a PCI card slot to put a new usb thing on... so.. that is a no go...
2. SOLUTION (that worked for me) - UPDATE THE BIOS on your PC. If you go to your computer manufacturer's driver site... you can search for these updates. Chances are... you have the version that was installed on your computer that is out of date (its not one of those things that automatically updates). For the most part, you never really need to update it since it doesn't affect regular functioning... most people update it on the advice of a technician. Either way, I went to the Dell support site, looked up my laptop and found the install file.
WARNING BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS!! ALSO, RESEARCH HOW TO MAKE A BIOS RECOVERY DISK IN THE CASE IT CRASHES.. BETTER YET, CONSULT YOUR LOCAL GEEK FOR SUPERVISION, IF FOR ANY REASON THE BIOS UPDATE FAILS AND IT DOES HAPPEN SINCE WE KNOW PC's are WONKY... YOU MAY RISK BRICKING YOUR COMPUTER... Just google "Bios Update Failure" to see the horror stories..
However.. that said and done.. I updated it ... made the mistakes above and was able to get my computer back by leaving the battery out for an hour, pressing the power button for 30 seconds and restarting ... after the failure scare... saved me 200 bucks from dell customer service
Good News: With the updated bios... SYNC WORKS PERFECTLY!! I can put music on, transfer stuff out... no errors!! =) JOY!

I have an iPod Touch and got a new computer; iTunes is installed, but won't sync with my iPod properly.

I am running the new computer under Windows 7, and have tried to sync my iPod. It uploaded the photos and videos from the iPod, but won't upload the apps or music. The iPod is also not downloading the new music on the iTunes. How can I sync what I have on the iPod to the computer, without losing the settings, apps and music already there?

I have both an iPod touch (4th gen maybe?) and an iPad. A few days ago I synched both earlier in the day and no problems. That night I downloaded the latest iTunes update and when I tried to synch both devices nothing happened. The computer will charge the devices but they don't appear on iTunes or the My Computer.
I looked thru the discussion board and I went thru the steps of restarting my AMDS, that didn't work. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quick Time and nothing happens. iTunes works fine. My library is intact but it won't recognize my devices. I've had my iPod touch for a little over a year and my iPad since this past Christmas with no problems until now.

Thanks for the response but this didn't work for me. I went thru the whole comprehensive set of steps and still iTunes doesn't recognize either device. I'm not sure what else to do. My husband thinks I should restore the computer to an earlier date prior to the last iTunes software update. Not sure what else to do. For now, both the iPod and the iPad work fine. I just can't synch them.
