IPod touch and "Archive and Install"
I recently had to perform an "Archive and Install" on my hard drive. Before that, I had been using an 80gb iPod Classic and using an 8gb iPod Touch on the same iTunes library. iPod Classic for music and the Touch for movies and internet.
Since I performed the Archive and Install, I am able to connect the Classic to iTunes and it is able to read and sync with no problems. However, the Touch is not recognized by iTunes. I would simply just erase and start over, however, I have purchased some music (day before I did the Archive and Install) on the Touch due to my computer being down at the time. Needless to say, I have not been able to transfer the music to iTunes.
I have tried about everything that I can think of - short of erasing the iTouch and losing the album I purchased - which I really don't want to do.
Anyone out there have a way around it before I go crazy?
I sincerely thank you in advance!
Chad
Hello,
iTunes needs to be installed after the OS. In this case you have installed the OS after iTunes. Download and re-install the latest version:

Hope that helps.

hi , i have a 4th gen ipod touch and it runs on 4.3.5 but it wont let me update it to 5.1.1! everytime i try to install it..it says "sorry your network timed out" and wont let me! i tried so many times and it still wont work.. what to do?
Disabling the computer's security software (firewall and antivirus) usually resolves that error.

I just installed iOS5 on my Ipod Touch and there is a gray bubble when I try to choose an album or song, how do I get by this to make my choice or how do I use the bubble?
Thanks, Stedman, that is helpful (I seem to be able to get past the "bubble" somewhat) but it is still there....I have, in the past, stroked across the music of choice and that was it...now the "bubble" with the choice name comes up and if I go all the way across I get a delete choice? Can you help with this also or where would I go to research changes (I see there are 200!!!) in this upgrade?

I upraded some of my apps on my ipod touch, and one of them, my candy crush app is messed up, couldn't connect to facebook. tried re-installing it, same thing happened. now i have to start from the begining again, which really *****!! please help!!
There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery. -

Items ineligible for a return include:
Opened memory
Opened software*
Electronic Software Downloads
Software Up-to-Date Program Products (software upgrades)
Apple Gift Cards
Apple Gift Packaging (origami style gift box with ribbon and greeting card)
Apple Developer Connection Products (Membership and Technical Support)
* You may return software after rejecting the licensing terms, provided the software is not installed on a computer. However, software that contains a printed software license may not be returned if the seal or sticker on the software media packaging is broken.

I have a 3rd gen Ipod touch. When I connect it to my Macbook pro to sync it with itunes, it doesn't show up on iTunes. When I connect my iPhone 6 to my computer it syncs, backs up, ect. How do I make this older iPod show up on my iTunes?
Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
Try a different USB port.
Try a different USB cable.
Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
Check for an iTunes update.
Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.

If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:

My daughter got a new ipod touch and set it up using my apple id. Once she sync'ed it, she had all my contacts, so she went ahead and deleted the ones she didn't want. Unfortunately, my iphone then sync'ed to the cloud and all my contacts were wiped out (the ones she deleted).
So, I wiped my iphone and did an icloud backup/restore. This restored all my apps, but my contacts are still the ones from when my daughter did her update. It doesn't appear as though I got back my contacts, even though I chose an icloud backup from before the deletion. Logging into icloud shows the reduced/deleted contacts, not the full list I had, and I can't see a way to revert back to an old copy.
Any ideas? I thought restoring from the cloud would have done it, but the contacts I got were the 'current' copy, not an older/archived copy.
I'd appreciate any ideas. None of the articles I found seemed to address retrieving an 'old' copy of your contacts from the cloud. The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts. Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.
