IPod Touch and iPhone - Syncing both on the same computer
Is there any reason I would have a problem syncing both my ipod touch and a new iphone on the same computer? I want to have all of my music on both. My iphone arrives today and wanted to avoid any major issues.

Normally I would recommend this...
Plug in the iPod, uncheck the box to show artwork on the iPod then sync the iPod (all artwork will be removed from the iPod).
When it is done, reselect that check box and sync the iPod again (all artwork added to iPod).
This often times clears up display issue with artwork on the iPod.
However, I don't think you get the show artwork option for the iPhone, correct?

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my PC and basically managed my photos and music, etc. from there. However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

Music imported from a CD or another source
iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

Can I sync an ipod touch and an ipad separately to the same laptop
I have an ipod touch and an ipad. Can I sync them to my computer so that each remains independant of the other. When I first attached the ipad to my computer the option to start as a new ipad or sync from my ipod's content were available. I did neither and just ejected the ipad. I guess my question is: if I choose to start as a new ipad will it wipe out the data from my ipod touch or will it create a new backup?
I have three iDevices that I sync to one iTunes library and each device has its own unique content.
If you are Windows - launch iTunes and go to Edit>Prefernces>Devices. Check the box at the bottom that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones, etc. ... From syncing automatically, click ok. Quit iTunes.
Connect either of your devices to your computer and launch iTunes again. Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading, now go into each and every tab of iTunes and select the content that you want to sync to that particular device. When you are done, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. iTunes will remember what you selected for that device the next time that you sync,
Eject your device, connect the other one and do the same thing. If you want -- turn auto sync back on using the procedure outlined above. -

Why can't sync itunes library from old ipod touch to new ipad mini using the same computer?
I have an ipod touch with songs from itunes, downloaded cd's and limewire. Just bought an ipad mini and I can only sync the music that was purchased from itunes and the cd's. How can I get the limewire songs to transfer?
When your device is connected try File > ~Device > Transfer purchases from device

I have a 16 gig iPhone 4s with AT&T and a PC on windows 7 ultimate. i just updated it to iOS 5.1.1 and now it doesnt appear in itunes. it appears when the device is plugged into the computer but not at any other point does it. i restarted my PC, my iPhone and my router and nothing changed a thing. i re enabled Wifi sync and i re installed iTunes. Nothing has worked !! Please help !
Actually I think we need to wait on an update from iTunes to update its compatability with the new iPhone software. They usually release a new version of iTunes with the iOS. So I hope to see an update from apple by the end of the week or maybe even today.
Needless to say. I am experiencing the same issue as well. I've tried all the proposed fixes listed above. It's gotta be a software compatability issue. -

With your phone connected, under the Apps tab, remove the check in the box labeled "Automatically Sync New Apps".

I would think you can. If you don't want them to be synced the same, create a playlist with your daughters music, and one with yours, and configure iTunes to only sych the selected playlists.

My daughter bought a new ipod touch and when synced received the contacts from my iphone. She deleted the ones she didn't want on her ipod and now they are gone from my iphone. I have the cloud and i thought back up on itunes. I have tried to re-sync and no luck. How can I get my contacts back?
Your problem is that she used your icloud ID to connect to icloud and thus had all your data synced to her device. Contacts are not saved in a backup to icloud, since they are stored independently in the Contacts section of icloud. If someone deletes them, they are gone. If you had them on the PC would they be available in some backup you frequently make of the PC?

Is it possible that you're not supposed to be able to use the same Free Application (in this case New York Times) on both iPod Touch and iPhone 3G? I seem to be able to access NYT on my iPod but not on my iPhone.

I'm still puzzled. I am logged in to the same iTunes account.
And both my iPod Touch and iPhone are said to be properly synced. Both of them have five different applications that I really like (New York Times, Wunder Radio, etc.). These applications all appear on my Home Page of both iPod Touch and iPhone but they only work on the iPod Touch.
I can't figure it out.
The only clue I have to offer is that a couple of times the applications will work if the iPhone is miles away from my computer and my iPod Touch. Could that mean something?

Hi, I need help and advice. Basically me and my ex partner both had iphones and synced it with the same computer under the same ID. We split up and now im trying to get all my apps and info onto my new laptop with a new account but it keeps asking me for the old apple ID which she is still using and she changed the password. i tried backing it up but still nohing. When i try to back up purchased items being apps etc its keeps asking for the old one. help
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. But you'll still need the password.
Once you have the computer authorized to use the account she could change the password again to stop you buying apps on her card (assuming it's not on yours!). It would lock you out of upgrading them too but they should work unless she uses the deathorize all feature.
It depends on how amicable the split is...

I want to upgrade my iOS 4 to 5 on my Ipod Touch but I no longer have the original computer I used to sync with so it keeps saying I will loose all of my apps and stuff on my new computer.....
