IPOD touch and Macbook wireless connection

Can I connect ipod touch 4G to MacBook Pro with wireless connection instead of wired connection and sync to iTunes on MacBook?
IPOD iOS 4.3.3
MacBook OS X 10.6.7

Yes, but you have to make some adjustments first.
1. Make sure you are running Itunes 10.5
2. Upgrade your ipod to IOS 5
3. Follow the steps found here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2394626,00.asp

  • WRT400N connection issues with iPod Touch and MacBook

I'm a newbie, so please bear with me.
I recently upgraded to the WRT400N from a Linksys BEFW11S4.
Since the change, the connection to iPod Touches and MacBooks at the house have been shaky at best.  The connection frequently drops out completely on the iPod Touch even if it's right next to the router.
I've tried resetting the router, changing settings on the iTouch and MacBooks, but the problem persists. I don't want to mess with the router settings as I'm not experienced in that area.
    Can anyone please help me?
    Thank you.

You can try the below mentioned settings.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
This should fix the issue for you.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
    Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
    Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
    Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
    Check for an iTunes update.
    Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.
    From:
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:

  • Just got a new IPOD Touch and it wont connect to our Wifi home network with a Belken N Router. Our router uses WEP 64 bit security, but had a "blank" password field, which the IPOD did not like. Changing to a 6 char numeric PW didnt help either.

OS is whatever OS ships with current IPOD Touch
I cannot understand why the APPLE engineers have designed this product so that it has SO MANY WIFI problems.  This is supposed to be an easy-to-use product.  We've had no problems connecting our new laptop, our ROKU box, etc, but it seems impossible to get the IPOD touch to work.  NOTHING LIKE SPENDING XMAS MORNING DOING APPLE TECH SUPPORT TROUBLESHOOTING TO LEAVE YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!!  Argh!
In fact, the only way we have been able to get this expensive brand new IPOD to work on our home network is to DISABLE SECURITY in the router settings.  THIS IS ANYTHING BUT A GOOD IDEA.
DON"T KNOW WHY BUT MANY OTHER USERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM SO APPLE ENGINEERING NEEDS TO GET BUSY AND FIX THIS PROBLEM SO THAT NEW USERS CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TRAINED ROUTER ENGINEERS TO DO IT!!!!
Ok, sorry for the rant, but surely those of you who are experiencing this share my frustration.  This is not why I bought an APPLE product.
IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THAT APPLE WILL NOT ALLOW A WIFI PASSWORD with more than one identical alphanumeric character?  Any ideas?  We also tried eliminating the 40 MHZ setting under Bandwidth settings in the router settings for our router, but it made no difference.  The router has the latest firmware, too.  Running out of ideas, and am ready to box this unit up and send it back!

Thanks, Bob!  You are correct.  And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE).  One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
    1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind.  Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
    2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers.  Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

  • I have a brand new ipod touch and it wont connect to itunes or my computer!!??

I have a brand new ipod touch however when I connect it to my computer, itunes does not recognise it and neither does my computer. The drivers have downloaded and are showing working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes as discussed in support centre however nothing seems to work. The ipod itself just has the connect to the computer on the screen, is fully charged and when plugged in a little lock sign comes up for a second or two above the itunes icon!!! Let me know if you have any further suggestions please.

Thanx for you suggestions, I used my old xp laptop...update software and my ipod connected however the memory is not large enough to hold my itunes library so I could see it was not the cable or the ipod at fault.
I have tried to connect to my vista laptop again and have tried all of the suggestions in troubleshooting again...I have even upgraded to windows 7 to see if that cleared the problem....and....my computer has located my ipod but is only recognising it as a digital camera so back to the drawing board...
Please have you any other suggestions???

  • Ipod touch and iphone cannot connect, as no apple mobile device usb

First the problems was my ipod touch, it did not connect to itunes, my computer or would not charge. I tried everything, uninstalling apple software, restarting apple mobile device manager. I tried to find the apple mobile device usb, and it was just not there. My iphone has been connecting fine in terms of connecting and charging, so when i connected it i found the apple mobile device usb and followed the instructions on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538#error52 so i went to delete the apple mobile device usb, then when i went to scan for hardwear changes it didnt install back, so now also my iphone cannot connect to itunes, but unlike the ipod touch it does connect to the computer and charges.
Please some one help me!!!! i have been trying to fix it for ages, and and am at my wits end.
    thanks

    Have you tried:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - If your computer sees the iPhone but not the iPod and you are using the same cable and USB port that indicates an iPod problem. Have you tried resetting the iPod.? Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Also try running diagnostics.

  • Using VPN on ipod touch and trying to connect to my computer wirelessly

OK HI everyone I'm new to this forum thing here in apple this is my first thread so please don't flame me.
(It happens allot on other forums, not to me but to other newbies)
anyway focusing on the task at hand
so im trying to find a way to connect to the internet on my ipod NOT using a wifi connection, I noticed under GENERAL settings when you go under NETWORK there is WI-FI or VPN and im trying to see what's all that about
and i also have usb broadband modem and I found some Server IPV address or something like that under my modem Status so I'm trying to see if i can somehow work with any of these things to connect to the internet on my ipod
BTW i have an ipod 3rd Gen and a Cricket Modem and Windows Vista OS

Sorry, but the only way that you can connect your iPod to the internet is via WiFi. To use VPN, you must be connected, again via WiFi, to the internet. VPN (used mostly by businesses) allows you a super secure way to access internal networks via a public network (the web).
You must have a wireless router to connect to allow WiFi. An ordinary router isn't going to be able to do it. See this article: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/wireless-network.htm for some basics on wireless networking.

  • Both Ipod Touch and Macbook Pro Stolen, how do I get the photos in my photostream back at least?

My house was burglarized yesterday and I lost my Macbook Pro and my 3rd gen iPod touch with many photos and videos on it. I did have the photostream turned on but the computer that it was linked to was stolen. I want to get these photos back if possible but since iCloud doesn't seem to act like an actual cloud service I can't seem to find a way to do that.
Can I set it up on another computer and get the last 100 photos I took without the IOS device?

Photo stream still stores you photos from the last 30 days (up to a max of 1,000), so all you need to do is connect to icloud with some device/computer, turn on photo stream and voila.

  • FaceTime Failed: Calls between iPod Touch and Macbook Pro

when i try to place a call to someone who has FaceTime on an iPod Touch, she says she doesn't receive any calls and i get eventually get a "FaceTime failed" after a few rings. if the other party calls me (i'm using MacBook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.1) and i answer, at first, it will say "Connecting..." then it will then show a "FaceTime failed". We both powered off our devices to no avail. Any ideas?

    Somehow, it just fixed itself.

  • IPod Touch and MacBook

I either read somewhere or was told by someone that my iPod Touch would not charge if my MacBook was closed. Well the other night my iPod was almost dead (and so was I waiting for the blooming update) so I just left the iPod connected and shut my MacBook. Note that I didn't shut down, I never do - I just go back to the desktop and close the Laptop (my bad!!!). Anyways I got up the next morning and the iPod was fully charged. No need to respond to this I just thought it was interesting as now with Applications the Touch battery drains like water and I was thinking of getting a charger that plugs in - well no need to now which is great.

Ahhhh I see - well that makes sense as I installed Leopard after I got my Touch - thank goodness for that!!!
