Ipod touch and outlook new proplem!!

Okay, I just bought an ipod touch 32gb in july after the 2.0 software came out. already had latest itunes installed. hooked up the touch and installed the 2.0 software. them downloaded a few apps( evernote and texas holdem), Already had outlook 2007 installed, so synched contacts and calender and everything went well. thought I was one of the lucky ones. everything worked for about 3 weeks then the synch with outlook just stopped working. no new changes to my computer or ipod. it just worked one day and then next it didnt. Now I'm sure this next statement will make some of you apple die hards upset but it seems fishy that apple hypes this thing as working with outlook, gets people to buy it then (just a theory) puts some kind of time limit on it so it stops working then if you want to keep using your $500 dollar music player as a business tool the only way you can do it is to BUY there mobile me. Then they just turn a deaf ear to all the people here complaining of the problems they are having with outlook.

Some more information on this problem. Just out of curiosity, I used windows restore point feature to return my computer to the way it was on Aug. 2, about 2 weeks after I bought the Ipod. There are no new programs on it since then. No updates to any programs. I don't update windows unless I have a problem. And no updates to Itunes. Still running 7.7.1.11. But guess what. The contacts and calendars update just fine. Could there be something in Itunes that waits fifteen days or so when you cant return the Ipod, then disables the synch feature. Or am I just being paranoid because I am so frustrated. If anyone can explain this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No.
You can authorize your computer for both accounts. Put all of the music on one computer. Sync your devices to that computer.

Where were the devices doing since the content was there and when you found it missing?
DId you power it off ond then back on?
Did you reset the iPod?
I would try resertting the iPod. Noting is lost.

Everything should be on your computer. Just sync everything to the new ipod.
You can restore your new one using the backup from your old one.

Thanks, Bob! You are correct. And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE). One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind. Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers. Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

Iphone, Ipod touch and a new computer

Hi all, lengthy post so here goes...
I had an older computer that I had synced with my Ipod touch and newly purchased Iphone. Some how the old computer decided to pack it in and I can't access the internet on it. I purchased a new computer, installed itunes 8.2 onto it and synced the ipod touch to it. then tried to sync the iphone. Now, on itunes, the library has all my songs and movies on it, when I sync my ipod touch where my movies are they show up, however when I sync the iphone in the "device" section where the iphone shows up, all the songs are printed in light grey and in the library section they are printed black. When I try to move anything to the iphone from the library it won't let me. From my research it seems that I can only link my iphone to one computer, which happens to be the computer no longer working to access the internet to deauthorize the iphone on that computer, so what do I do. I only want it for the one computer but I can't fix this other computer to allow access to the internet on THAT computer.
Anyone with SIMPLE solutions please help

Make a new Apple ID for her.
Use it on her iPhone 4S for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime.
Use your ID on her iPhone 4S for iTunes and App Stores.
Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?
Be careful or ask for help about moving from iCloud account to another one.

IPod Touch and a New Laptop...among other problems

Hi there - I've got kind of a mess on my hands, and I'm hoping someone is willing to help me sort it out.
I've got an iPod touch that I received as a gift from my parents Christmas 2009 (Model MC008LL) and it is working beautifully - no issues there - and I want to sync it to my new laptop (which runs Windows) and transfer my music here as well. The only article I could find (this one) a) doesn't apply to the iPod Touch and b) would require me to sync it to the old computer, which presents a new challenge entirely, as the old computer's motherboard fried about six months ago and we lost everything.
In addition, I'd like to know if there's a way that I can keep the music that's on my iPod as mine when I leave for college, which is in roughly a month. Everything was bought under my parent's account and the iPod itself is registered under my parent's account, and I'm afraid that if I try to sync it with a new computer and my new iTunes account, Apple won't let me keep my music. I don't want my music to be tethered to my parent's computers and accounts, you know?
To sum up, I'd like to import my music from my iPod Touch to my new laptop but:
the only articles I could find on the Apple website didn't apply to the iPod touch and if they did, I couldn't follow them anyways
iPod Touch is not synced to any computer as old computer is unsalvageable/paperweight status...iPod Touch still runs old version of software (4.2.1)
iPod Touch and all music within is registered under parent's iTunes account, which may present problem?
Is there anybody who has any idea of where I can start? It'll be much appreciated!

You'll likely need the help of some 3rd party software to assist you with copying the contents of your iPod Touch back to your new iTunes library. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering several possibilities.

As for the iTunes account dilemma... Since the music was purchased under your parents account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to play and sync this content with your parents account credentials. From there, you can start to use your own account, but make sure to authorize your iTunes library for that account as well. You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer.
You cannot transfer purchases from one iTunes account to another, so as long as you have or want to listen to the music you purchased with your parent's account, you'll need to have your iTunes library authorized to do so. Sorry.

Does anyone know if the Ipod touch can be synced with Office outlook 2007 - I would like to sync my notes and emails contacts but don't know how to do this.

and there are dropdownbox's where i can choose outlook
tasks & notes are not supported though

Is there any reason I would have a problem syncing both my ipod touch and a new iphone on the same computer? I want to have all of my music on both. My iphone arrives today and wanted to avoid any major issues.

Normally I would recommend this...
Plug in the iPod, uncheck the box to show artwork on the iPod then sync the iPod (all artwork will be removed from the iPod).
When it is done, reselect that check box and sync the iPod again (all artwork added to iPod).
This often times clears up display issue with artwork on the iPod.
However, I don't think you get the show artwork option for the iPhone, correct?

Outlook 2010 Syncing With iPod Touch and iPad

I have a PC with Outlook 2003 that sync’s with iPod Touch and iPad. I plan to buy a new PC with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. Comcast tells me they don’t support Outlook (They support Outlook Express) but Outlook 2003 currently works fine on my PC with Windows XP. I have the following questions:
- . Is there an alternative to Outlook 2010 that will sync with my iPod Touch and iPad?
- Will Outlook Express sync with my iPod Touch and iPad and is Outlook Express still available?
- What is Microsoft Exchange?

Just look at page 26 of the new US) users guide. It specifically says that the iPad syncs with Outlook 2010 (as well as 2003 and 2007). However, Comcast's mail help page only lists OL 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Just got a new IPOD Touch and it wont connect to our Wifi home network with a Belken N Router. Our router uses WEP 64 bit security, but had a "blank" password field, which the IPOD did not like. Changing to a 6 char numeric PW didnt help either.

I cannot understand why the APPLE engineers have designed this product so that it has SO MANY WIFI problems. This is supposed to be an easy-to-use product. We've had no problems connecting our new laptop, our ROKU box, etc, but it seems impossible to get the IPOD touch to work. NOTHING LIKE SPENDING XMAS MORNING DOING APPLE TECH SUPPORT TROUBLESHOOTING TO LEAVE YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!! Argh!
In fact, the only way we have been able to get this expensive brand new IPOD to work on our home network is to DISABLE SECURITY in the router settings. THIS IS ANYTHING BUT A GOOD IDEA.

We also tried eliminating the 40 MHZ setting under Bandwidth settings in the router settings for our router, but it made no difference. The router has the latest firmware, too. Running out of ideas, and am ready to box this unit up and send it back!
