IPod Touch and Photo Gallery

I just got my first Touch, and all seems to be working well with one exception. The Touch will take me via my Safari bookmarks to my iWeb page, and from there to all parts of my iWeb postings with ONE exception - my photo gallery. This link works fine with Safari on my computer, but returns an error message when I try to access the gallery page with the Touch. Any ideas? Thanks!

Good question. In my situation they start out on my Mac in iPhoto as Nikon RAW files. Then I upload to a mobileme gallery via the iPhoto mobilme button, and choose the optimize for download option. From what I understand iPhoto then magically converts the files to be uploaded to jpeg and a small enough size to permit a reasonable download speed. Once published they are just a normal web page in the mobileme "cloud".

Please can anyone help, I recently purchased a second hand ipod touch and it had over 4000 photos on it, so to delete them I went to settings and found an option which said something like erase all content and data, I did this and the next morning I tried to turn it on to put my own music on, only to find that the only display on the screen is a usb lead with an arrow pointing to a CD. I cant get past this screen even after plugging it in to my itunes account, its like my computer can not find the ipod.

Put it in Recovery Mode. If your computer won't recognize your iPod, try another one. How did you wiped the iPod? With iTunes or directly with the settings app?

    Try here:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
Usually deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder works. Note that if you sync via the folder method, make sure you dlete all the ifolders since :
The iPod Photo Cache stores the photos that are optimized for display on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the “Sync Photos From” pop-up menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup

You need to unsync them.  If you uses the folder syncing method either remove them from your syncing folder or change which is you syncing folder.  Also see:

  • I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my computer that just bit the dust...If I don't replace the computer, can I still add stuff to these two devices?

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my PC and basically managed my photos and music, etc. from there.  However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually.  Can I still add stuff onto my two devices?  And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only?  Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices?  Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

  • IPod touch and Aperture 3.1 syncing issues

I can't sync photos from Aperture 3.1 with iPod touch and iPad iOS 4.2.1.
The strange think is that only the first picture of the event is synced but not the rest.
Another strange think is that the most recent event syncs fine and it consists of several hundred pictures. The other not so recent events sync only with the first picture.

  • IPod touch and camera connector

I have the iPod camera connector for my 5G 30GB iPod video, I have tried to connect the iPod camera connector to the iPod touch and my Nikon D50 but it says this accessory is not supports by the Touch.
Is there a way to make this work? Is it planned as an addition later? BAsically because using the iPod touch for a photo viewer would be awesome.
    Cheers, ILMV

No, the hardware is different. The new connector has hardware that facilitates movie rentals. It is possible that this interferes with the camera connector in the same way it does with a large number of other accessories that worked with previous generations of iPods with dock connectors but which do NOT work with the new iPods.
But it really doesn't matter. The "new" iPods have been out for almost six months. The camera connector was never a big seller. If it had been a money maker for Apple, they either would have release a new one or, in your theory, released a software upgrade so they could keep selling them. They haven't. The odds are that they never will. Go buy a stack of memory cards. They're cheap these days.

  • Disabled iPod Touch, and originatting computer gone.

My iPod Touch has been disabled. (My kid tried to get into it). The computer I originally linked it to has been stolen. How do I restore my iPod Touch, and keep the content stored- it has all my pix that were on the computer that was stolen. Appreciate any advice. Thanks, and Happy New
    Year!!

greetings QueenSher, and welcome to Apple discussions.
i assume you have a new computer then ? try this:
    1) to prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod - hold down the option and the command ( on a PC that would be the shift and ctrl ) keys when plugging in the ipod - keep pressing the keys until the iPod is listed under the devices list in iTunes.
    2) check this post by Zevoneer to retrieve files from your iPod.
also, especially for photos, click here for information.
    good luck !

  • Henry dropped the Ipod touch and cracked the screen.  How can I get this fixed.

    Hi,
Henry dropped his Ipod touch and cracked the screen and put in a passcode and now has forgotten his passcode.  Need to know how I can get the screen fixed and or if it is covered on the 1 year warranty?  How can I unlock the Ipod without the passcode?
Any info would be greatly helpful!
    Lori Neumann

Take to an Apple retailer. Such damage is not covered by your warranty.
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
    Select the Summary tab.
    Select the Restore option.
When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up, you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated."
The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

I have a Sony AC-U50AD charger can I use it on my ipod touch and ipad mini - there is a switch for "ipod" - I've had the adapter for several years and I think it's ok for my ipod touch but since it pre-dates both of these products I want to try and make sure it's ok to use with them before I do use it.
