IPod Touch applications no longer compatible? What is going on?

What happened, all apps used to install into my ipod Touch which I installed on my iPhone 3g. Now slowly, an app at a time is starting to become incompatible and not allowing installation....although it can use the wifi.
These are the apps.

GreenFinder
Loopt
PanoLab

Whitepages
Wikime
Yelp
I know that some of these apps are location base but with wifi, some of these apps should work.
Is anyone getting the same issues?

Several of those apps, when I check them on the iTunes App Store, state "Compatible with iPhone," not "Compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch."
Seems there may be updated versions of the apps that are not Touch-compatible, or it may be that in iTunes 8/v2.1 there is now a compatibility check.

I turned on Gear Box with Ipod touch attached and having been avoiding update notifications, decided to go ahead and let it update ios 5 thingy. Once updated via my laptop connection I put it back in the slot on the gear box and now I get a message on the Ipod that Gear Box no longer recognizes Ipod Touch. Tried it a few times, but just won't work. The Ipod works on the battery only. And of course it happened on Sat night so no support via phone. Any help will be appreciate.

Thanks to Gear 4, not the Apple phone support, my Ipod touch is now working with Gear box. You have to do a hard reset once or twice and then turn the Gear 4 system on, turn your Ipod touch on to music, and insert it into the dock. It should work then. If not, I suggest you contact Gear 4.

- Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

the computer is a macbook pro, mac os x 10.6.08 and the ipod touch is ios 6.0.
the problem is that just updated the itunes on the computer and now the ipod won't connect because apparently the itunes on the ipod is not up to date but the iod is telling me that is is up to date, so i can't do a software update.

Purchases made on my ipod touch are no longer being transferred to the Mac...but yet they are showing up in "grey" in the purchased list on the Mac. Any clues as to what is going on?

What used to work just fine, is no longer working...
Within the last 2 days, song purchases that were made on my ipod Touch are no longer being transferred when the ipod synchs up. The strange thing is that the songs appear in iTunes --> Store -- Purchased list, but are greyed out. They play just fine on the ipod...but aren't making it back to the Mac.
I have tried right clicking on the ipod when it appears in iTunes and selecting "Transfer purchases", but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any clues as to what is going on?

One other very important piece of information I forgot to include...the purchases were made prior the iOS update. So the sequence of events went like this:
1) ipod Touch with previous iOS (4.0 I think)
2) purchases made
3) ipod connected and iTunes prompts for iOS update
4) iOS upgraded to 5.0
5) Now the purchases seem to be stranded on the ipod Touch

Ipod Touch Apps No Longer Recognized in iTunes

I have a 32GB 2nd generation iPod Touch and have been adding applications to it from the iTunes Store through my MacBopok Pro now for many months with no problems. However, after I upgraded to Leopard OS the iTunes program no longer sees any of the applications on my iPod Touch and if I try to sync the two iTunes tells me I will lose all the applications and related information on the iPod Touch. Any suggestions as to how and get the iPod Touch applications back into iTunes so I can start syncing again? I have tried to reinstall iTunes as suggested on another forum, but it made no difference. Thanks for the help.

Since you upgraded your OS, make sure iTunes recognizes your computer as "Authorized". If you have to, deauthorize it and then reauthorize it.
Since you own the apps, you can download them again in iTunes. You will get a message from itunes telling you that you have "already purchased this, do you want to download again". Just check yes.

2-3 old ipod touch is no longer syncing to itunes library, which was recently moved to new laptop.

Recently moved my library of music, audiobooks, and podcasts to new laptop with Windows 8, at which time I upgraded my itunes software as well. My 2-3 year old ipod touch is no longer syncing properly. Audiobooks and podcasts are fine (after much effort), but all of two songs out of an extensive music library are the only ones syncing. I see them in my library on the new computer and have managed to sync them to my iphone 5 as well. Ipod touch appears to have ample file storage space left. What gives? Is the i-pod touch already useless with the latest Itunes software? Operator error? Hardware problem? I don't know what to think. Have been using ipods for years without this issue.

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Manage"
4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
+Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
7. Close "Computer Management"
8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
9. Reconnect your iPod.

My iPod Touch calendar no longer receives updates from the calendar program in my MacBook. Used to work fine, via iTunes synch. Have I inadvertently turned that function off?

I too have an older iPod. I do not care much for iCloud or any cloud so what I do is send my calendar to my e-mail and then open it on my iPod. I send Contacts using Adobe and, for me, it works fine. If you are in business and use these apps frequenctly I do not think this would work well for you. Only two options, iCloud or a Server.

Download the app again in the Purchased tab of the app store on the iPad. You can download the apps again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID.
If the apps are in your iTunes library on your computer - Sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on all of the apps that you want to sync..
Click on the Sync Apps Heading.
Click on Apply or sync in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can also restore the iPad from a backup of the iPod Touch and then sync the iPad with iTunes and the iPad will be identical to the iPod Touch with regard to content.

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!

All I can suggest is the standared fixes. It seems very strange
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.

- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
Then try restoring again.
