Ipod touch apps "stocks" and "weather" will no longer update data.
the apps on my Touch "stocks" and "weather" have failed to update since 1-30-10.
I have done a full "restore" and reloaded all other apps and music files but these 2 apps still fail to update? could it be the new software package? Both apps are "powered by yahoo"
I'd wonder if for some reason your ability to contact that yahoo widget is failing....
Did anything recently occur?
I've had this happen breifly in the past, but that was resolved once the yahoo services came back online.
It's strange, but as long as you have internet connection and the yahoo services can respond (saying that its not blocked by your ISP, WLAN, or other services) it should update.

"iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" will not sync to iPod after restore
Hi, new here.
I'm using Windows, and have a need to reformat & reinstall every six months or so (I install & uninstall a lot of software; I'm a tester by profession). Now, I do not restore my iPod touch quite as often as I reformat, but when it can't be helped, like this other day when iTunes suddenly won't recognize my iPod touch when I connect it. The first time it happened, I was able to contact Apple Support by phone and they kindly re-posted the January Software Upgrade to my account by default, and I was able to re-download it (I also sent an email, hence I was re-sent the file a second time after that, which I have also re-downloaded since). I realized I might run into the same problem in the future, (and I've been doing a lot of reading around these forums) so I backed up the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file.
Three months later (i.e., today) my iPod wonked out again, but I can't seem to re-sync the file I backed up to my freshly-restored, now-plain-vanilla, without the January Software Upgrade iPod touch. The steps I followed are as below:
(1) Copied the backed up file to "C:\Users\RonMarc\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa"
(2) Re-launched iTunes and made sure I'm logged in to iTunes with the account I used to purchase the upgrade
(3) Restored the iPod touch (it automatically downloaded 1.1.4 (at the time I purchased the upgrade, it was 1.1.3; I have also tried shift+Restore and browsed to a IPSW file of the 1.1.3 version)
(4) When prompted if I'd like to set up the iPod as a new iPod or if I wanted to restore a previously backed up copy, I opted to restore. I have also tried re-restoring it and doing it the other way, i.e., "set up as a new iPod"
(5) Ejected the iPod, reconnected it and Synced. Still, no January Software Upgrade.
I'd like to know if I missed out on any steps. Or if the "back up the IPA file" method works only under the Mac, as in here. The idea of

After reviewing your post, the iPod is not recognized in iTunes. A frustrating situation to be sure. You haven't mentioned what OS the computer you are using uses. You can choose what article to use either OS X or Windows from this quoted section.

Microsoft will no longer update Windows XP as os April 8, 2014 . They recommended to upgrade to Widows 8. If I install Mozila firefox, do I need o upgrade to Win 8. Thanks
You certainly will not be prevented from using XP by Firefox after April 2014.
Planning for the longer term you may wish to explore the other possible options.
The Linux route does have an obvious advantage, nearly everything is free as in costs nothing. So you do not fork out for a licence to use Windows or MS Office. Users sometimes forget the cost of the software because typically a computer is bought with Windows pre installed, but if you keep it for any length of time you may then need to consider the costs of upgrades for Windows (IF the machine is even compatible with the new Windows).
Dual booting (May be more difficult with Windows 8) is choosing at startup; or boot time; what Operating System to run. You could for instance retain and use Windows XP and have Linux available if required. The details of dual booting may seem rather complex at first, but if your machine has a USB port it may even be able to run linux off a USB stick.
Whilst it may not be something a complete newbie should try it should not be ruled out as an option I like the introduction in this article

When i plug in my ipod to the comp it wont charge even if i keep it plugged in for an hour but it heats up like crazy i have also got the temperature warning once , it charges only once in a while and and my ipod nano works fine when i plug it into my comp so please help

You may have to consider, if possible, a visit to an Apple Store with Genius
bar. Usually it's best to try & set an appointment. If you know an actual Store
you may call and ask if they can help you set a time to discuss this issue so

The iPod Touch you have may not accept the latest iOS8.x system, so if you
have older marginal Apps, they would not work and may not have equal or
similar replacements under the latest iOS version. iOS7 may not be available
and if you should upgrade to iOS8, you probably won't be able to revert back.
After looking around Support online, I do not see a method of restoring Safari
but your device may have one built-in to it; perhaps part of a reset process.
I am not certain... There are some items you may have to attach the Touch to
a computer and use it to see about updates or replacement software.

To ask a knowledgeable product specialist, and have the iPod Touch model
and serial number handy, may be the best way to go. Expect that with any
upgrade to a newer iOS system software, old apps won't work and new ones
that could be available, may not look, feel or act in the same way as old ones.

IPod Touch (5th Gen) and iOS 6.0.1 Update
I'm having some problems with upgrading my iPod Touch (5th Gen) to iOS 6.0.1.
The iPod is currently stuck in the mode where it shows the connect to iTunes symbol. When I connect to it to iTunes on my MacBook Pro, I am asked to 'Restore and Update' which I click. The update file downloads, but as soon as it completes, it disappears and never installs. I then have no choice but to start again which results in exactly the same problem. I don't seem to be able to restore the iPod without downloading the latest software.
Does anyone have any advice?
