  • IPod Touch apps will not open (through no fault of my own)

I'm really starting to get frustrated. I just got my new iPod Touch 2 days ago. I loved it. However, today I tried opening several of my apps but they won't open.
    1. I tried connecting the iPod back to iTunes to see if they just didn't synchronize correctly... didn't work.
    2. I tried to reset all settings in the settings menu... didn't work.
    3. Tried resetting the iPod by holding the sleep and home keys... didn't work.
The last option is to delete all the apps and download them again, which I don't want to do. I feel like of I have to download them again after 2 days, then how many more times will this happen? (Understand what I mean?)
The music and video playback is fine, but if this was all I wanted, I would have saved $150 and bought an iPod Classic.
I'm sure this problem has a reasonable solution that doesn't involve deleting or re-installing anything. I'm just hoping that one of you know what that solution is.
    Hope you can help me.
    Thank you for your time.

It could be that you are trying to run apps that require version 3 software, and although you've only just bought your Touch, there are several posts on the forum which suggest that they are still being shipped with version 2.
To find out which version your Touch is running, go from the (Touch's) *Main Menu* to Settings/General/About and look at the version number towards the bottom of that list. If it's version 3, then there's a different problem, but if it's version 2 (or 2.2.1), read on.
Go to the *iTunes Store/apps* section and look up the apps that don't work. (Once in the store, you can type the app name into the *Search iTunes Store* box at the top right.) Towards the bottom of the screen, on the right hand side is the heading REQUIREMENTS and under here is says *Compatible with ...* & also *Requires iPhone OS ??? or later.*
Many apps only require 2.2.1, but if obviously, if you have one that requires version 3 and your Touch is only on version 2.2.1, that's likely to be the problem. (A less likely problem is the *Compatible with ...* An app that is only compatible with the iPhone, but not with the Touch is usually because the app makes use of the phone parts of the iPhone which are not on the Touch.)
So, is it the version number? If so, the solution is to upgrade your Touch to version 3. The bad news is that you have to pay for it. It's approximately 10US$ or £5.99 here in the UK. (I know what you're going to say, "why am I paying again when I've only just bought it?" The Apple view is that version 3 is a major upgrade to the operating system that offers new features and is not part of "maintaining" the existing OS. I cannot answer why new Apple are shipping new Touch's with the old OS - because I don't know, sorry.)
If you do require the new OS, I recommend that grit your teeth and buy it. To do this, connect your Touch to your iTunes and look (in iTunes) on the Summary pane. Somewhere at the top of the pane will be information about whether your Touch is "up to date" and you should be able to see the option to upgrade.

  • My ipod 4  apps will not open i try to update and i get cannot connect to itunes store

My ipod 4 apps wil not open. They blink on then off real fast. I try to update but get the message "cannot connect to itunes store"> New apps work. I recently upgraded to windows 7, but our other ipod works fine. I recently deleted some songs and apps and since then have had this problem. i've tried all the suggestions I can find on appe support, nothing works

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • IPOD Touch Apps will not launch

I just upgrade my IPOD Touch to 5.0.1.  We restored from a backup and the apps will not lunch. We installed a new app and it works fine.  Any suggestions.

Instead of restoring from backup, backup firmware and software.

I would first try resetting your iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you have trouble running PS Touch. Have you tried to reboot the device? How much storage do you have left on your device?

  • Ipod touch camera will not open and bottom is flickering.

So, this has happened before. A long time ago, last year, my ipod had water damage. So i turned it off, left it in rice for a few days and it worked again. It's been working for about a year up until now again. As far as i know, the ipod has had no water damage what-so-ever since then. But, just to be sure, I immediately turned it off and put it in rice. That didn't solve the problem. So I went online and people said If I updated my ipod software to ios.5 then it would resolve the problem... It didn't. I've turned my ipod off for days and turned it back on to still find the problem. I've even reset my ipod 5 times. I don't know what to do... When I press the camera, it's either all black or the shutter is closed. And almost always at the bottom, the camera/video slider is flickering. Please please please help.
And, it's never been broken or cracked, and protected when dropped... So I doubt it's a hardware problem

    - Have you tried just restoreing the iPod to factorydefaults/new iPOd?

    - The problem may be due to the previous liquid intrusion.  Sometimes it can take awhile for some damage to occur.

  • My Reminders app will not open. When I try to open it, quits and gives me an error message: "Reminders quit unexpectedly while using the CalDAV plug-in." My Reminders is synced with my iPod touch, and it is fine on that. How do I fix it?

Also, the Calendar is loading very very slowly, and sometimes it quits and gives me the same error message as above.

The problem has been fixed with the most recent OS X software update.

  • TS1702 Game Center app will not open, in setting I only have a spinning icon , which seems like it can't download the app.

Game Center app will not open. I only get a spinning icon on settings. Trying to open but stuck. On app itself , it's just blank.

    Hi Free lee,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would first try closing any pertinent apps like Settings and Game Center:
iOS: Force an app to close

If the issue continues, a restart and possibly a reset may also be warranted:

  • My iPod Touch 5 Will Not Turn On... At All.

My iPod touch 5 will not turn on.
It's not that it's dead, nor that I turned it off.
I left it on, wrapped my earbuds around it, plunged it into my backpack and headed out... In the rain.
I had an otterbox case on it too.
I come home, leave it to chill out before using it for about 20 minutes because it's also very cold outside. (15-20 degrees fahrenheit)
After 20 minutes pass, I need it for something. I try to turn it on, and nothing pops up.
    No apple logo.
    No empty battery photo.
    Nothing.
I tried plugging it in in a variety of different wall plugs and computers.
    Nothing.
iTunes doesn't open, iPhoto doesn't, nothing.
I don't want to reset it completely because I would lose over 1,000 photographs and memories.
I don't even know HOW I would go about resetting it considering it's not working.
So much for a "protective" case.
It was in a backpack, an otterbox case, and I was outside for about 2 minutes in the rain. I'm not sure what to do.

Plave it is a sealed container with uncooked rice for a couple of days. Then:
    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
The above my erase the iPod. If you do not have a backup contacting a data recovery company may be in order. Not cheap.

  • Kindle app will not open.is there a way to retrieve my books.

My kindle app will not open and I can not get to my books.  Any suggestions as to where to go from here?

Have you tried closing the Kindle app completely ? From the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Kindle app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Apart from you could try deleting and reinstalling the app, though you'll then need to re-download your Kindle books from Amazon.

  • I upgraded my iPad last week to iOS 5.1.1 but since then most of my apps will not open....help!!

I upgraded my iPad last week to iOS 5.1.1 but since then most of my apps will not open....help!!

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps including Apple's then try closing them all via the taskbar and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
