  • IPod touch audio issue: why do I only get sound from one channel in my ear-pods?

After upgrading my brand new iPod touch 5th generation to IOS 6.1.2 I only get sound from the right channel of my ear-pods.
I did not have this issue with IOS 6.1.1. Is this a problem derived from new IOS? Any idea on how to solve it?
    Appreciate your help!

Have you tried other headphones? If you confirmned it is an iPod problem:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • 3rd generation iPod touch syncing issues

The last time I tried to sync my iTunes account through a wired connection between my Macbook Pro and 3rd generation iPod touch, I had some major issues.
First: It deleted the YouTube, iBooks, Netflix, Dropbox, Facebook, and Kindle apps from my iPod and will not let me reinstall them because they are "not compatible with this iPod." This is really annoying.  It means I can never sync my computer with my iPod again.  The only way I can get those apps on my iPod is if I go to the store in the iPod and download each one individually.
Second: Some songs that I have recently acquired will not sync with my iPod because they are not the right format or something.  I never had issues with this before.  This song is in the same format as some songs I aready have on the iPod.
Solutions I have tried:  I tried reinstalling iTunes and it didn't help.  I tried reseting my iPod to factory settings and starting with a "new iPod," twice.  This did not help either.
My Question: Is this an issue because my iPod is out of date and means that I am just SOL or can it be fixed?

The shuffle and iPod touch use different drivers.

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch Syncing issues

I recently receive a 5th Generation iPod Touch as a gift and I am having issues with it. I plugged the iPod into my Windows 7 PC with iTunes 11.4.0.18 and had issues from the start. First, my iPod would not even sync any media content from my library. So I messed around with the settings until the content was on my iPod. Once, it was on there I went to play a song that I had downloaded and it immediately skipped the song and kept going to the next available song , so I went back on to the forums to see that it could be a corruption on the backup and all you would have to do is restore your iPod and it would fix your issue. I did that got to the same step and a few songs played but most skipped. The album art is there for most of the songs not the music. I then went to iPod>On this iPod to find that every song I had just sync had an exclamation point error by the song. This is only happening on the On this iPod menu the music plays fine on the music menu without an issue. I am curious of what I am doing wrong here? I also read that it could be a much bigger problem in that I would have to delete all my music and re-install it. If that is the case I will deal with the iPod as is. It is not worth my time to spend hours trying to re-install 15+ GB on my PC again.

Verify that all play in iTunes on the computer.
    Then
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync

    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

  • Ipod Touch: My Issues, help needed as fast as possible

Well recently i got an Ipod Touch 2nd Generation for christmas, and i must say i love it. But i have got some serious problems. 1) all applications that were not standard on the itouch crash unexpectedly and the only way to rectify this issue is to download something from the app store and they work again :S. Yes that is as bizarre as it sounds. Sometimes it will work fine and i can use any of my apps whenever i like. But frequently(more frequently as time goes on) the applications dont open, i touch them they open the background for the app and they take me back to the main screen. I have tried the following: reseting the iPod, restoring it to factory settings, uninstalling apps and then re-installing and this issue is resolute. I also happen to know that some other 2nd Generation Touch owners at my school have the very same issue. I have seen some threads dotted about explaining their issues that are similar to this, meaning its fairly widespread.
My second issue is really bugging me, i opened the itunes store for the first time on my iPod(i never get any of my music from itunes normally i detest the application.) and all of a sudden it downloaded a podcast without me telling it to. It was called Podhead: The DoorWhores Off to vegas. This is something i really do not wish to have on my iPod. So i synced it to my windows OS and tried to re-sync the iPod's podcasts with my library so that it would dissappear. But it didn't, i then tried setting it to manually putting files on my ipod and alas it doesnt show up in the podcasts sub section of the device. I tried playing the podcast and it takes me to the home screen of my ipod with the Play triangle flickering constantly in the top right of my ipod. I don't know what is going on with that but i havnt restored it to factory settings after this issue, mainly because my iPod refuses to accept that i own all of the apps i have backed up and i have no desire to manually re-download them to my ipod.
    3) That last scentence brings me nicely onto my final problem which is this: my computer tells me that i do not have the authority to put onto my ipod. Despite all of them being free and despite all of them having being backed up from my ipod.
Any help with these issues would be much appreciated. I am in desperate need of assistance before i come to the end of my tether and resign myself to a long trip to the nearest apple store. thanks in advance

Did you try to restore your iPod to factory settings and add your apps one by one to find out which app causes the crash? Try not to restore from a backup it may contain the corrupt parts you don't want to install again.

  • IPod Touch Sync Issues - Fails, then 100% CPU

I've been having a problem where when I try to sync my iPod Touch on my computer, it fails some way through, then the CPU is cranked up to 100% and I have to forcibly restart my computer. Ever since I've installed Windows 7 64-bit I've been having sync issues so I tried restoring it completely and I got myself into this mess. I originally had Vista 32-bit so I'm not sure if it's because of the change. But I have an HP Pavilion dv2615nr. Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I cannot get any music onto my iPod.

    dv2615nr
I believe you've got an nVidia chipset on that model. If so, and you've got over 4 GB of RAM, you'll need to update your Host Controllers.
It's available either as a Microsoft hotfix:
[You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972]
... or as a Host Controller update from HP:
[Driver update for Win7 USB issue on nVidia chipset systems now available|http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Driver-update-for- Win7-USB-issue-on-nVidia-chipset-systems-now/m-p/188193]
(Unfortunately, it doesn't always appear on the downloads page for a specific model ... if you upgrade to 7 on some earlier models, they don't always provide all potentially relevant drivers. I couldn't find any Windows 7 drivers available for you model for example.)
To doublecheck to see if your model does have an nVidia chipset, it might be worth posting over at the HP Support forums.

  • IPod Touch update issue

Downloaded update for iPod Touch 3rd Gen, iPod froze up.  Does not respond to turning off, frozen with applie image on screen....  iTunes does not recognize connection.  Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

    Hello
I have an itouch 1st gen and went to try and update the software to the latest 3.0 update. I purchased the software and then itunes tried to update my itouch with the latest software.
By doing so this has caused my itouch to freeze and go into recovery mode which I havent been able to get out of after trying all that article ts1275 asked me to do. i.e reinstall itunes / try different pc / try different usb port / try to reboot itouch etc etc
I resorted to contacting tech support which was of no help as I already tried all that I could to get my itouch out of recovery mode. The other problem is that as I brought my itouch way back in 2007 my warranty is out of date and that means basically there not willing to do much to help. I explained that it was the software update that caused my itouch to crash and prior to the update it was working fine. There reply is that the software would not put my itouch in recovery mode and that it must be a hardware problem.
End result after spending 1hr 30mins on the phone is that I have booked in with tech support at an apple store and if found to be a hardware issue then I would have to pay £116 for an out of warranty replacement.
I think this is a joke and its to easy to put the blame on hardware issue when the device was working fine prior to software update.
Ps I would be happy to hear if anyone else has had the same problem so we can build a case against Apple for causing the problem

  • Ipod touch hardware issue?

My ipod touch is doing some very strange things. When I am running an app, or on the internet, the app or Safari will close and display the menu screen. Then the screen will toggle back and forth from the menu screens, including the "Search iPod" screen. This is occurring without my touching the screen! If I try to go back to my app or web browsing, it will play tug of war with me and flip back to the menu/Search iPod screens. It will also occasionally turn on automatically, without being touched. I am guessing that this is a hardware issue, but I am not sure if I need to replace the LCD Screen Display, or if it is the touch screen digitizer assembly, or something else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you very much

  • Ipod touch engraving issue

I have a 16 GB 2nd gen ipod touch. I want to have it engraved (I know a place where I can get it engraved) My issue is that I currently have the invisible shield on it. What is the best solution to my problem. I already bought it the ipod touch, I'm just wondering the best way to have it engraved, it having a case on it.

I want to get my IPT engraved with a picture (the mac bomb w/ OLD SCHOOL written under it) Also, I'm a fanatic, I will never sell it or throw it out. It is a piece of apple history. call me a freak, I'm guilty as charged

  • Ipod Touch Space Issue

When connecting my Ipod Touch 8GB to Itunes it shows space usage as Audio/Photo's & App's as 4.3GB plus 2GB as "other" can someone explain what "other" is and how I can view to reduce? I understand the OS takes up 1-2GB but I should be left with at least 6+ GB to store on?

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:
How do I get rid of "other" storage: Apple Support Communities
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Ihome 8 and Ipod Touch 1G issue, ipod turning itself on

Since having upgraded my Ipod Touch to the firmware 2.x my Ipod Touch is turned on at arbitrary times when docked in my Ihome IH8. Also when just playing music on the Ipod, the typical beep sound of switching on is produced by the Ipod when docked into the IH8. In both cases this is repeated until I take out my Ipod.
My Ihome8 has already been exchanged, but the problem persist.
I have no clue as to cause of this; the ihome or the ipod touch.

This is the only post on this subject, that I've seen posted here. I defiantly would suspect the IH8 as the culprit. You should contact the company that made the IH8 and see what there willing to do about it.
If it is a big enough issue for you, return the IH8 to the store and get a refund.

  • IPod Touch cart issues

I am setting up a cart with 25 iPod touches and I am having issues getting them to populate all at once in iTunes and iPhone Configuration Utility through the cart USB connections. It seems as though there is something wrong with the USB cable set up because if I ever so slightly touch an iPod, sometimes it will connect. At most, 6-10 iPods have connected at the same time. Everything is up to date, Mid 2010 MacBook running OS 10.7.3, iOS 5.0.1, iTunes 10.5.3 and iPhone Configuration Utility 3.4. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before and has some input. Thanks.

This sounds like the same problem I'm having. When in the car my volume slider is all the way up and I'm using the analog out (headphone jack) to play through the car stereo. With the volume all the way up the volume is not anywhere near as loud as it should be. What I have to do is pause playback and then press play again. The volume then increases to where it should be. However when I advance to the next song the volume drops again (the volume slider bar stays where it is) and I have to pause it and press play again to get the volume back up. This is very annoying. The problem started when I upgraded to iOS4.
Anybody experiencing a similar issue? Apple wants $25 for a single support request, sheesh.

  • 2nd Generation Ipod Touch Sync issue with Apps.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch and Itunes says that I have 6 apps that need to be updated. But when I go to the Itunes app area and try to update it says there is not updates. How do I determine which apps are causing the issue? What can I do to reset the number? Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks!  Dave

My guess is that those Apps require iOS 4.3 or later, which a 2nd generation Touch cannot install.
So the notification in iTunes (programme on your computer) will say there are updates to the Apps, because there are. However, since your iPod cannot use them, if you look at the App Store App on your iPod, those Apps won't be (shouldn't be) listed. Occasionally, I think they do get added to the notification number showing in the Apps Store icon on the iPod. I currently have two Apps like that.
    Important:
What you should not do must not do is update the Apps in your iTunes Library (on the computer). If you do, then your next Sync of the iPod Touch to your iTunes Library will remove the App from your iPod and you will lose the App.
My advice is that you ignore the notification number in your Apps Store App icon. It is no longer accurate or even meaningful. Instead, go to the Apps section of your iTunes Library and click on the X updates Available message. That will take you to the Store and list the updateable Apps. Unfortunately, you will need to check each one individually for it's Requirements. If it now requires iOS 4.3 or later - or an iPod Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.2.1, do not download it. I think that now, every update will require iOS 4.3 or iOS 5, so there will probably be no Apps that you can update. If you do find one, you can update just that individual one by selecting Update as shown below.
I'm in the same boat as you:
Unfortunately, far too many people simply rant on about this, so that it's impossible to get together and lobby Apple to modify this so that those of us with older iPods can continue to use older versions of the Apps. They (Apple) appear to have forgotten that if an existing customer is not in a position to replace their aging iPod with the latest one, then that customer may no longer be able to use an App - thus losing the App's designer his/her customers.
I can see that their thinking is obviously; "the customer will buy a newer iPod because they want to have the latest iPod/they want to continue to use their Apps".
Hhhmmm! Not in the real world!

  • IPod Touch audio fault

I've just set up a new iPod Touch and sadly the audio from the internal speakers keeps cutting out. Audio through the headphones is fine at all times. It doesn't come back on when I detach the headphones even if I shut it down and restart it. The sound only returns once I connect it back to my Mac. As soon as the dock lead is connected it bleeps and the internal speakers work again. It then works OK for a few minutes before going quiet again!
    Any ideas?

  • New iPod Touch, audio quality really noisy.

I just recently purchased an iPod Touch 4th generation in white on Boxing Day. So far, I'm enjoying my product, however when I try to listen to music through any earbuds the quality of the audio becomes distorted and noisy. I've tried the earbuds on other devices and the audio quality was also poor. I've tried using different earbuds with the iPod and the quality remains poor. I think there has been a manufacturer flaw in the product.
Do I return to the store in which I purchased the iPod and demande for an exhange? And if I do, would it be exchanged at none of my expense?
    Thank you in advance.

Well I don't have time to experiment in detail with and document technical analyses about the device but I will say that I did briefly compare it to the 2nd generation Nano as well as my home stereo using the same files (a couple of 256kbit AAC files ripped by myself in iTunes 8; one rock and one hip hop) several times and I enjoyed the resulting similarity throughout the various sources.
I'm quite content with the sound quality coming from this device... and I'm pretty anal about these things generally.
