Ipod touch backup folder

I am trying to find the location of the ipod touch backup folder. All info i have seen shows where the iphone backup folder is, but no information on the ipod touch backup folder.

On my iMac, it is in the same folder. There are 2 folders within the MobileSync/Backup folder, one for my iPhone and one for my iPod Touch.
On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
On a PC running Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
On a PC running Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.

  • Where are iPod Touch backup files

Did the location of iPod Touch backup files change with iTunes 8? Previously, I found them somewhere like this: Libraray/Application Support/Mobile Applications/Backup and they had extension .mdbackup But I can't seem to locate them now (I had to replace a lost iTouch recently).
    thanks!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/ as the path.

  • How can I recover texts & contacts on iPhone 5c after syncing it with an old iPod touch backup?

I used to have an old LG flip-phone and an iPod Touch. I lost the iPod Touch about six months ago. This week I got my iPhone. I had to go to the Verizon store to have them take all the contacts off the LG phone and put them onto my iPod.
I had painstakingly pared down my iTunes music library to choice selection of checked items that were small enough to fit on the iPod touch. I didn't want to go through that process again, so I hooked my iPhone up to my computer for the first time, opened iTunes, and synced with the iPod touch backup on my computer. It would have been smart to have backed up the iPhone first, but I didn't. Since I couldn't text with the iPod Touch, it didn't occur to me that the existing texts on my iPhone would be overwritten.
Now all the media files and apps from my old iPod Touch are on my new iPhone 5. The new iPhone apps I downloaded yesterday are on there, too. But the contacts and texts have vanished.
To review: no iTunes backup of iPhone data. No iCloud backup, either-- I've never used iCloud before.
I downloaded Wondershare's iPhone Data Recovery program and used it to scan data on the device. The scan shows 0 contacts and only the 2 text messages that I've received this evening. Curiously, it does have my entire call history from the last week.
So is there any way to recover the texts from this last week?
This seems pretty hopeless but I thought I'd try. Thank for your help.

You are correct. There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.

  • How do I get an old iPod touch backup onto a new iPod touch?

My daughter dropped her iPod touch 32GB and shattered the screen. We replaced it today, and I am trying to restore the last iPod touch backup from my iTunes account. It is about one week old. When I first connected the NEW iPod touch it gave me an option to restore, but then prompted me that the IOS was out of date and I had to first update the IOS then restore.  Exact message:
The backup of "NAME iPod" is cannot be restored to this iPod because the software on the iPod is too old.  To restore this iPod from the backup, you must first set up the iPod as new and restore the software to its latest version.
So I chose NEW, and then it seemed to configure it.  It is IOS 5.1.1.  But all to the "base" system. How now do I restore the apps, music, etc from the last backup
I named this new iPod the exact same.

    To restore from backup see:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
The backup does not included synced media like apps and music. you can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
The apps have to be in the iTunes library before you restore from backup otherwise there is no place for the app date to be restored to.

I recently had to reformat my PC, but when I did that, I lost my iPod Touch Backup, so my question is: is there a way to sync my iPod to my PC without losing any information (such as applications and the information I had on them) and/por making a backup of it?
I have an iPod Touch 2nd Generation
    Thanks in advance,

Yes there is a lot of ways to back-up your purchases and apps from iTunes, buy an external hard drive and sync it there or better yet, if you have a mac, but the Time Machine, it automatically back-up your files every hour. So if you lose anything you can just look it up there and restore it. Or if you have a PC and you don't want to buy an external hard drive, there are other storage websites where you can back-up your PC.

  • IPod Touch Backup

I'm about to reformat my PC. Once I reinstall Windows and iTunes, can all of the apps, music, photos, and videos from my iPod Touch sync up to my new install and transfer everything over? Thanks!

    No.
Your iPod Touch backup does not include your iTunes media (music, videos, apps, etc). Here's what your backup includes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
You need to backup your iTunes media to an external hard disk or to CD's/DVD's as explained in these articles:

It should.  Make sure your new computer is authorized for the iTunes account.

  • Readers for iPod touch backup?

What are the readers necessary for an iPod touch backup to work? I have an iPod touch 4g, and I think there may have been a problem with the backup reader because when I tried to restore it from the backup, in the summary tab under devices, it showed all of the data, but not the separation of music, apps, etc. It also wouldn't start past the frozen apple logo with empty loading bar, which leads me to believe that it couldn't separate the data properly. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I really do not understand your question. The backup does not included synced items like app and music. See:
    iTunes: About iOS backups
Try terminating the restore, reboot your computer and reset the iPod and try again.
    - Reset the iOS device.
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If problems try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and try again.
    - Next try DFU mode and try restoring again.

  • Transferring iPhone/iPod touch backup data from PC to a Mac

Hello everyone! Is it possible for me to transfer my iPhone & iPod touch backup data from my PC (Windows 7) to a Macbook Pro? Because I'm planning to switch to Mac soon. I've tried transferring my backup data from PC to PC and it worked (Windows XP2 to Windows 7). I was able to sync my previous data to my iDevices when I plugged them into my new PC. If it is possible, can anybody please tell me how?
    Thanks a lot.
    STEPHEN, 23, PHILIPPINES/DUBAI, UAE

... I fear that if I connect my iPhone to it all my iPhone information, including apps will be deleted.
You are correct. Transfer your iTunes library, which includes your app and music purchases from the PC directly to your new MacBook Pro. Your photos, contacts, and other information can be transferred also if you use Migration Assistant.
This explains how to use Migration Assistant: OS X Lion: About Windows Migration Assistant
After you sync the iPhone to the PC for the last time, "deauthorize" the PC for music purchases.
When you sync the iPhone to the MacBook for the first time, it will tell you that it is already synced to another computer, and give you the option to erase and sync it to the MacBook.

  • IPod Touch Backup, when syncing with iTunes 9

I have just switched to an Apple mac and now have a MacBook.
I copied the PC My Music folder to the Mac and dropped it over iTunes and successfully imported my library into iTunes on the MacBook.
When connecting my iPod Touch it asked me to confirm that I wanted the contents erasing and the current iTunes library syncing to the iPod Touch.
I answered yes and this was also successful.
My problem now is that when I connect the iPod Touch to the MacBook, it does recognise it and it does connect and it does start the backup before sync, but then the bckup runs very slowly and indeed so slow that it would take hours to actyally complete the backup if indeed it is working.\
I've checked that files are indeed being written to the Mobilesync Backup area and they are, but it's too slow.
Anybody got any ideas why this would be the case. My MacBook has 82+ GB free space and my iPod Touch is a 16GB device with 3+ gb free space.
Please forgive me in that I am an Apple MacBook newbie, although I have been successfully syncing the device with a Windows PC for some time prior to moving to a Mac.

Many thanks for your reply, however, it doesn't help me, because I have an iPod Touch with no camera and so the camera roll issue does not arise.
The sync process doesn't get to sync either, since it is in "Backup iPod" status and would be for what would be many hours, possibly as much as 24 hours.
Is this normal for a 1st Backup between a MacBook and an iPod Touch via USB to iPod cable provided with the iPod?
The iPod is about 14 months old and the MacBook is quite new, i.e. just a few months.

  • IPhone/iPod Touch Backup failure

    Hi there !
well, I'm asking for some help since I couldn't figure out what's happening with my system. Indeed, I recently updated to iTunes 9.2 and since then I'm having a very strange problem.
It just can't backup my iPhone V1 or my latest iPod Touch V3. However, it does sync them. iTunes says at the end of the operation that it couldn't backup them without adding any other information.
I'm reluctant to the fact of downgrading iTunes... I'm not sure it will keep my library organized. However, if it is safe, I'd rather choose to downgrade if this problem is without solution.
Before coming here, I tried to delete my two local backups and made iTunes creating others but that was without any result.
I'm running the x64 build of iTunes in my x64 Win7 (Pro).
    Thanks for helping .

Are you running an Intel P55 chipset (Core i5 processor, eg)? I was having this exact same problem after upgrading to iTunes 9.2 and attempting to load 4.0 iphone software (I have 3G version of the iPhone), backup failures, syncing issues, etc. Thought I'd lost everything as was really angry. Finally found that they'd had some issues with the USB support of P55 motherboards and that you needed to update the BIOS. I updated, and it solved all my backup issues. Was able to restore from the backup iTunes made before i tried to upgraded (that I'd thankfully copied out of the iTunes mobile backup folder so it didn't get overwritten).
Here's a link to a Microsoft forum on the issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprohardware/thread/b6692122-01 87-4960-8f17-4d0ac4042133
Still can't believe it was my BIOS the whole time, and not Microsoft OR Apple to blame. I'm taking back some of the nasty things I said about them both during the 5 days it took me to figure this out.
    Good luck!

  • IPod Touch Backup Issue

    Hi,
I have an iPod 4 and I have a backup related question regarding that.
On Dec 19, 2013, I was in the process of upgrading it to iOS 6 from iOS 5.
If I remember correctly, it asked to backup first and I believe it was an iCloud backup.
I believe it had finished the backup process (Not 100% sure though) and it was in the process of upgrading to iOS 6.
It was then that I accidently disconnected the wire from the computer. When I reconnected it, it either asked to restore or it automatically started restoring (I don't really remember.) When it finished restroing, I realized that it restored to an older backup (July 15, 2012 backup) and I lost new photos and all of apps. My focus today, however, is just on the photos. When I went into iTunes and clicked 'Restore from backup...', I saw two options, a '2012' option and the other was Dec 19th, 2013 option. I chose Dec 19th backup (Last Backed Up date did not change to 2013. It remained 2012).
It did go through the restore process but it seemed that it restored from 2012 again as I didn't have any of her new photos or apps.
Also, when I logged into my iCloud account, the only backup I see is that was taken yesterday (Dec 27th).
I also ran iBackup Extractore utility but it only found 2012 backup.
    I have a Windows 7 Desktop and I do see a folder for Dec 19th under Users/My_Name/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup.
So, where is the Dec 19th backup? And why do I get that option in iTunes if it was not successfully backed up?
    Thanks.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • Where are iPod touch backup file?

I need to location for the backup files on a Windows XP Pro because my computer is dying and I need to transfer it to another computer

Apparently I have 623 backup files in that folder.
Are you sure of that? How many folders show up at the top level of the folder 'Backup'? These will be folders with unique IDs for names (i.e. long hexadecimal strings). Each folder is a backup. Inside each folder are many files (hundreds or thousands) that are all part of that backup.
iTunes only keeps one backup, unless you interrupt a backup (leaving a damaged one) or manually create one in iTunes (secondary-click device and select Backup). So, for example in my Backup folder there are three subfolders - one for each iPhone (two syncing to this computer) and one for an iPod Touch. This can be confirmed in iTunes > Preferences > Devices tab, which lists the three backups by device name and date (and the dates match the modified dates on the folders).
If you really have 623 backups (i.e. you have 623 folders in the Backup folder and 623 backups show up in iTunes Preferences), you have something very odd occurring.
