IPod touch burning hot

My iPod touch is burning hot to touch while charging and has 2 burn marks on the right side

That is far from normal, take the Touch to an Apple store genius bar to be tested by the techs to see what is going wrong.  It should not be too hot to touch at any time.

My daugther's ipod touch got hot and will no longer turn on.  Is there a solution to this problem or is the ipod fried?

I'm not sure if it's fried or not, but try rebooting the device by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for about 15 seconds or so. Hopefully you will see the Apple logo.

  • IPod touch gets hot when in dock without charger

My iPod touch gets hot after a while when I put it into a MT-035 universal dock without a charger. I use this to connect to my stereo.
My iPhone stays cool in the same situation.

Yes, it is normal for the iPod toi get quite warm with heavy use like gaming and videos.

  • IPod touch gets HOT!!

My daughter's iPod touch (4th generation) suddenly started running extremely hot near the top of the iPod. It is so hot that it hurts to hold it.  At the same time, the iPod stopped connecting to wi-fi.  I have rebooted it, I have reset orginal factory settings, I have tried to connect manually to a wi-fi network.  I have restored as a new iPod.  Nothing worked.  It is so hot I do not want my daughter using it for fear it will burn her.  Any thoughts?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.
A third-partty place like the following my be less expensive. However, it is hard to tell because oyu do not know what has to be replaced.

  • My ipod touch burns up when it is charging or sometimes when i play games at the same time it charges. why is this and what can i do to stop it? please help!!!

HELLO! I have an Ipod Touch thats 32 gb, and its the really old one without the camera. ( im sorry i dont know which generation it is, but i bought it in 2010. ) Anyways, I've had this Ipod for almost 3 years now, and it still works pretty good. The thing im really worried about is that recently, my Ipod has started to overheat, meaning when i touch it, its almost burning. This happens when I charge it, or when I play games on it while charging the Ipod. When i remove the charger, it stops burning/overheating and goes back to normal. Why does this keep happening? Also, what can I do to stop it? please help!!!
    Thankyou!

J.K. ROFLing  is correct. It is normal for the iPod to get quire warm when charging and during heavy use.. If concerned make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • I have a grey screen and the back of my iPod touch is hot to the touch. I can't do anything with it, any ideas ?

My iPod touch has frozen and the back feels very hot. I can't get the apple sign up probably because it's hot. This is the second time this has happened in as many weeks. Anyone have any ideas on what to do. The screen is grey btw.
    Thank you
    Jobbers

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is it common on all iPod touches that while playing games even though the speaker is mute and the speaker is on that the iPod's bottom back right on the capacity logo, it gets warm, warmer, warmer, and hot? i think this is a problem because it drains my battery and i have to recharge daily. this happens when i use apps, but not when i listen to music.
and another question, how bad is the quality of the included earbuds? i've been using them only for three days and the left bud just blew out. this has happened to all my apple earbuds. and right now i'm using the earbuds with controls and mic that came with my iPhone. should i just replace these buds?
Plus owning a touch is fun!!! the form and look is very addicting!!! but the issue with the apps and the heat is disappointing. anybody else?

my ipod only tends to get warm when it's been in my docking station for long periods of time. it could be worth getting it looked at.
i've never used the supplied earbuds, to start with because it was early days and dad suggested walking around with white (blatantly ipod) earphones was asking to be mugged. but since then more because i already have far more comfortable sennheiser cx300s.

  • IPod Touch really hot :(

Alright well while i was using my ipod touch at work it got really hot, so i turned it off and put it in my pocket with my glasses, when i finished work i pulled my glasses out of my pocket and there was a mark on it like it was burnt or something, the only thing in that pocket was the touch, I'm wondering if this is normal? and if not what should i do my warranty expired and i don't want to pay basically the same price as i did for the ipod in the first place just to get it fixed.
If anyone can help or answer my question, than thanks a lot

My Touch gets hot too, but when it syncs, or when i charge it and use the internet. Plus, mine is in a leather case, so it`s normal, and it never got so hot ... It may be two things.
    1) Your glasses are scratched by the Apple Logo, which is pretty abrasive ( best case scenario )
    2) Your battery shorts out. This is pretty bad, unprobable but fixable, that`s if ... you don`t burst in flames. Jk :P
You should take it to the Apple Store, it can`t be out of warranty, the iPod Touch came out in autumn last year.
Good luck, and hope this has helped.

  • Ipod Touch is hot to touch and shutting off

I'm trying to download a season of vids. While waiting for the remaining downloads, I'm watching the first show, and the pod shuts off and returns to menu. Also, I noticed that it is slow in responding in turning on with the button, and responding to my touch to the sliding button. As for temperature, the pod is warmest at each ends of the pod.
It is fully charged, but not charging. Am I just working it too hard, or could there be some major malfunction going on?
    Thanks people!

It is normal for the iPod to get warm.  I would try the following standard fixes in order:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on your computer
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Ipod touch got hot and stopped working

I was playing a game and then pressed lock button then my ipod would not turn back on.  Is there a solution or is the ipod dead?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch gets hot while using, is that normal?

It really gets hot very fast

An iPod can get quite warm with heavy use like gaming.  Since how warm is too hot is subjective, I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

How hot?  Can you still touch it?  When you are doing what? Charging it?, Playing video games?  Light usage?  You may want to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  There is no cost for them looking at it.
