  • IOS 8.1 iPod touch 5 problems

I recently updated my iPod Touch 5th gen to iOS 8.1 and have found a few rather annoying problems.
    1) It now takes basically a whole day for my iPod to charge. I cannot use my iPod and charge it at the same time (or only on very low battery use apps), which I could before . The battery life has dropped pretty significantly. When I plug it in, it is extremely tempermental about being connected.
    2) I added some new songs to iTunes and it took over fifteen tries over a three day period to get it to sync my iPod.
    3) This one is very important as much as extremely annoying. When I start typing on the Internet, Safari will freeze up and stop working.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Has anyone found any solutions?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • 4gen ipod touch typing problem.

Hey guys new user thanks for having me onboard. Just recently having a new problem that i never ever had before dont know if its a ios 6.1.2 update or what but then again just had this problem today and i updated when it came out and never had a problem until today the problem is on my 4 gen ipod touch is that when i try to type in the searching for a song in music or goog on safari or in a app when i start typing the first letter in like the letter t it would type in like 2 or more letters more than my first letter punch and when i try to use backspace it doesn't work whatsoever and i'm 100 % positive that i didn't do anything to the screen so i typed iso 6.1.2 typing problems on another computer and couldn't find anything and was wondering if anyone else has this same problem and no how to fix or what not any help would be greatly appreciated thanks again.
BTW already restored it andsame thing happens.

Yes, I type in the phone number, I also tried their apple ID or email address and I put in a message. The Send button would not highlight. I'm trying to send a message to 1 particular person who has an Iphone 6. However, I sent one to my Iphone 6 and it worked so I don't think there is a difference in the software. I know this is an older gen ipod but it says it's up to date.

  • 2nd Gen IPod touch screen problem

    Hello,
This question is regarding a 2gen 16gig Ipod Touch. My son’s Ipod touch just recently started having a screen fill of static for lack of a better work. As a way to describe it when we reboot it holding the home button and power button the apple logo appears but white line on the right hand side of the screen. When it fully boots up there are repeating vertical or horizontal lines across the screen. If you slide the bar across the button something happens but the screen is so staticy that you can’t see what is going on. He says he didn’t try to jailbreak it, nor does it have water damage that he knows of.
We have tried to do a software restore within Itunes but if hasn’t helped (tried a couple times and set it up as a new touch). Is there anything else we can do, are there any other tricks to try or should I make an appt at the apple store?
If a picture of the screen would help we can post try and post one tonight.
Thanks for any help you can give.
    Mike

If you restored it to factory-new (you did not add anything to it like apps, mail accounts) and you still have problem it appears that there is a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at an Apple Genius Bar.

  • IPod touch mail problem?

I recently reset the password for my Hotmail account and when I tried to check my mail on my iPod, which was already synced it asked for the new password and I entered it i got an error message saying "Unable to verify account information". I deleted the Hotmail account and tried to add again and I got the same message. I have entered the new password multiple times and I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I got it right. I have also added my email address multiple times and I'm sure that I've got that right too. I have reset the password once more and still have the same problem. I have an iPod touch 4th generation with iOS 5. What should I do? Any help will be most appreciated, thanks

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that didn't help try
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

  • IPod Touch shuffling problem

There's a bit of a problem with my iPod Touch 5th Gen. (64 GB).
I always keep it on shuffle, because I keep a lot of music on it and I mostly listen to it on my way to work and back.
I will explain how this problem occurs...
In the morning, I turn the music on and it shuffles fine all the way.
I reach my destination and press the button on the remote to stop playing
I disconnect the headphones (Earpods with remote).
For the next 6-7 hours I use e-mail, some apps, some browsing and games.
On my way home, I connect the headphones again and it starts playing around 10 last tracks. Tracks I already listened to in the morning, and every next song is the song shuffle chose in the morning.
I am also noticing that the shuffle option skips different tracks on purpose, and prefers other, and I don't know why. Maybe I am just unlucky so some tracks are chosen 2-3 times in few hours, and I don't even remember hearing some.
I noticed the same issue with my old iPod Touch 4th Gen. (8 GB) and thought it must be iOS version related, but it remains the same even after updating to 6.1
Tried restoring it, and all of the standard procedures.
I am an experienced Apple user, and APP, so I didn't miss anything.
    Any ideas?

I see the discussion is about smart playlists.
Correct, it is. And that's the point. If you notice, micarta, who set that question was experiencing the same issue as you. Namely, that the same few songs were being played too often in the shuffle list.
Try this - it's really easy and will take you all of three minutes to set up (less time than it's taken me to type this!)
Create a Smart Playlist (it's that very large + button in the bottom left corner of the iTunes window). Let's assume for now, that your 2,000 song standard playlist is named 2000 songs and that you listen to approximately 10 songs on each journey (so 20 songs per day, five days a week). That's 100 songs per week and in 15 weeks, that's 1,500 songs. Don't get hung up on the arithmetic, you don't need to remember it and it  will make sense in a minute.
    Your Smart Playlist rules should look like this;
In my particular example, both of my lists will have the same number of songs because I'm simply making up my list (which you'll notice only has nine songs, not 2,000. ) You don't need to have your 2000 song Playlist highlighted, as I have, when creating the Smart one.
Clicking on the arrows will show the drop-down menus, from which you make your choices.
The Match / all at the top will only change to that when you select the second rule.
Create a second rule by clicking on the + button at the end of the first rule's line.
Do not select the Limit to box, you don't need it in this set up.
Do select the Match only ticked items, it will stop songs that are not on the iPod but in your Library from showing up in the iTunes version of the list.
    Leave Live updating selected.
What you then have is the Smart Playlist, which I'll name Work Journey. The only songs in it will be songs that have not been played for 15 weeks. So if you have played - let's say - 450 songs, that are in your standard playlist, in the last 15 weeks, the Work Journey Playlist will only have 2000-450=1550 songs. The other 450 will not be there. So when you play from the Work Journey Playlist, it simply cannot play anything that has been played recently (surprise surprise, 15 weeks!) As each work day passes, the Work Journey Playlist has less songs in it - until - songs that have not been played for 15 weeks, are put back into the Work Journey Playlist and can be shuffled for play in it. So after a while, the playlist continues to have roughly the same number of songs in it, they're just different songs.
Based on my arithmetic, your Work Journey Playlist should never run out of songs. But if it should (perhaps because you've played some of the songs at another time and from the Album or Songs menus), then all you need to do is reduce the number of weeks in the rules of the Playlist (highlight the Work Journey Playlist and select File/Edit Smart Playlist).
There was one further thing. You believed that some songs in your standard playlist were being skipped. If a song is marked as Skip when shuffling, then it will be in the Work Journey Playlist but it will not be played in shuffle mode. You can spot if there are any.
In the 2000 songs Playlist and on your iPod, set the Playlist to play in normal mode and start with the first song in the list. On the Now Playing screen, you will see 1 of 2000 displayed, where 2000 is the number of songs in the Playlist. Before that song finishes playing, change the iPod to shuffle mode with the shuffle icon in the top right of the Now Playing screen. If the 2000 changes to a lower number, you have songs in the Playlist that are set to Skip when shuffling. All you need to do is find them.
In iTunes, highlight a song and look on File/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling.
Let me know how you get on.

  • IPod Touch Battery Problems

    Hey,
I have a 32 GB iPod Touch 4G that is about 5 months old. I'm thinking that my battery may be defective. After charging my iPod it will take about 1:00 for the battery life to reach 85% while browsing the web and listening to music. Once the battery life goes below 85% the battery life will literally jump off a cliff. A 45 minute game of unblock me can drop the battery life by 20%. When the battery life goes below 50% the battery will loose about 10% every ten minutes. I was going to get my battery replaced at the Apple store but I first decided to run some tests. Interestingly, when playing The Matix (with wifi on)it took a little less then 45 minutes for the battery life to go down 5% (which is much better battery life then even apple claims). This was very interesting considering that just minutes earlier my battery was going down 10% every 10 minutes. Is this behavior normal, or should I consider returning it to the apple store.

yeh my friend has that problem, it some times when you leave some apps on. double click on your button, then hold an app and delete them. but this wont delete your apps.

  • IPod Touch Backlight Problem

About 3 weeks ago, my iPod Touch backlight randomly shut off everything else worked fine, but I had to put a light up to my screen to see it. I tried resetting it, restoring it, and basically anything else I could do, so I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at the apple store. The "Genius" at the store restored it on his computer, and the backlight worked fine. Just recently, my backlight randomly went out, again, and the same exact problem from before persists. I really do not want to take bi-monthly trips to the apple store, so it would be great if someone could help me. Also, if the apple employee can fix my iPod, I probably can too. I regret not asking him what he did, but I believe he did some sort of special restore to reinstall the iOS4 firmware. If anyone can help me or tell me what the apple genius exactly did to my iPod, it would be greatly appreciated

I would guess what he did was put the iPod into DFU mode (google for instructions on how to do this) then he pressed sift + the restore button. I have the same problem with my iPod touch 2G but I have tried this and it didn't fix the problem. My next thing is to try to restore back to 3.1.3.

  • IPod Touch Buttons Not Working

My iPod Touch 4th Generation's (White, 8GB) power button and volume control buttons are not working. The Home Button works fine. I have tried to restart the device and I have restored the device but that has not solved the problem. The iPod is not very old, has not been dropped and is in a case. Please help!

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • IPod touch Battery Problems Since iOS 7 was installed last year.

Hello, I've had recurring battery problems with my iPod touch since the iOS 7 update was installed, and I find myself having to charge my iPod touch (5th Generation) a lot more frequently since I installed this update.
On iOS 6, I had never experienced any problems with the iPod touch's battery, as I was able to let the battery drain down completely, and let it charge for 4 hours (recommended). After the iPod touch was fully charged for 4 whole hours, I was able to unplug the lightning cable, and the iPod touch on its own would last a few days to at least a week or two weeks.
On iOS 7, since it saw its general release on the 18th September last year, I have found that the iPod's battery has drained so bad, that it dies too quickly, and when I put the iPod touch on charge, in almost an hour, the iPod touch tells me that it is 100% charged. However, when I take the iPod touch off its charge after it fully charges for that hour, it quickly drains down again.
I have gone through the standard procedure of restoring my iPod touch to its factory settings, and I have seen absolutely no improvement on the battery life whatsoever. I mainly back up whatever is on my iPod touch (I back up pictures, videos and also transfer updates that I have installed for certain apps onto iTunes), though I have seen how some people have backed up the data on their iPod's or iPhones, only they find their iDevice draining so quickly.
Even turning off certain features in the Settings app to improve the battery life doesn't help, as there is almost no difference that solves the problems I'm currently having with the iPod touch's battery.
I recently heard about the free iPhone battery replacement program which is now available, so I'm starting to worry whether I have to pay for a new replacement battery for my iPod touch.
Your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.
    Many kind regards,
    Alex Smithson

I mainly charge the iPod touch itself for four hours and it still doesn't make a difference. I've had my iPod touch for almost 2 years and since I installed iOS 7, it still doesn't make a difference.
I was wondering, if the article you have provided doesn't sort the problems with the battery out, is there another alternative??
Your help and advice is most appreciated.

  • ICal on Mac desktop to iPod Touch syncing problem

I have events on my iPod Touch that will not sync to my Mac OS 10.6.8 desktop.
What I've done that may have caused this:
I got a new MacBook for Christmas and so I tried syncing all 3 with iCloud, but that caused duplicate events
I tried only using MacBook & iPod Touch for sycing with iCloud and then directly syncing from my iPod with USB to my desktop, but it stopped syncing (later I found that my cord needed to be replaced, but I'm not sure if that was the problem - I was still dealing with some duplicate events, too)
I decided to stop using iCloud (I can do without using my iCal on my MacBook if there's no ideal solution to sync all 3 without duplications or other problems) and now my iPod Touch syncs well with my desktop for most items, but not all
I think my desktop thinks the events that are syncing have already been synced because they were in the past. The one that was important that I missed today, which is on my desktop (a repeating event) but is no longer on my iPod Touch, refuses to sync to my desktop. There may be more that I haven't noticed.
I thought maybe I could wipe my iPod Touch calendar and then sync my desktop to my iPod Touch, but I'm afraid that it might wipe my desktop as I don't know how to tell it to only go one way in syncing rather than acting as if it's a new program.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Be sure you've set your iPod to the correct time zone (ie, same as your computer). If you're on the East Coast it's three hours ahead of Apple HQ's time zone. A 5:00pm appointment in New York is at 2:00pm to someone using a Californian clock. Make sure your Touch isn't a Californian clock.

  • IPod touch connection problem!

My iPod touch no longer appears in iTunes when it is connected to the computer. I have tried to fix this problem in as many ways as I know but none of them have worked. So far, I've tried: Restarting my iPod, Downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes, using a different usb cable, using different usb ports, restarting my computer and stopping & starting the apple mobile device service. My iPod still charges when connected to my wall charger and the computer which I use (windows xp) still connects to my brothers iPod touch. I don't what the problem could be?! My iPod is 1 & 1/2 years old, but still works perfectly fine apart from this issue. Can anyone help?
