Ipod touch cannot determine my location.

Hi all [I know this have been asked before and I was going to join that discussion but it was so long ago the threads been archived] I won an ipod touch 8G about a week ago, found it so amazing I went and brought the 32G version as my wife wanted the 8G, only thing is the 32 doesn't pin point my location on the maps (via the icon) yet the 8G does everytime, exactly the same settings, same location, both pods side by side... what the hells with this!!?? Some people in that old thread said it depends on hotspots and location.. well thats rubbish cause here.. right in front of me on my pc desk.. one (8G) is pinpointing its location perfectly the other (32G model) isn't. Find my ipod is on of course. I'm thinking of taking this thing back and either getting one that works or my NZD$400 back!! Not happy!

Thanks bob.. of course. My bad for using that as a nick. Yes wi-fi.
I have to add something here. I won that 8G ipod touch, found it so amazing I went and brought a 32G... thing is NONE of those two can connect to Find My Phone (.. find my ipod app) !!  Called Apple and we spent over an hour tring to sort it.. its set up fine they said, they were nice to offer me another device, I actually turned it down (for now) as I truly think two devices the same not doing the same thing is a bit rad.. Im thinking it might be the firewall in my router maybe.. its the only thing I can think off!

    Do you have location services turned on? See Settings > Privacy > Location Services
    In any event Maps can be used to obtain directions by supplying the start and end locations after touching "Directions" in the upper left corner.

  • IPod touch cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes Library

    Hi, I have just transferred my whole iTunes library from my old computer to my new one and am trying to sync my iPod to the new one. However I get an error message saying "iPod touch cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes Library (additional 5.38GB required). I currently have 8.5GB free on my iPod so I don't understand why it cannot sync.

    Hey Georgiarose94, If what's going on, is what I think it is, when you sync the information it's over written, it can take 2 to 3 times more space the get the info on your iPod, once it's there the info only occupies the space it needs. Kind if of like moving, when you first step in the room with boxes of stuff there's no room. But after you get everything put away all is well. If you haven't already, connect your iPod to your computer, from your iPod Summary page, go down to Options and check reduce bit rate to (select 128 kbps). (Wording maybe a little different). Will greatly reduce memory space needed on your iPod, and you really do not hear the difference in sound quality. Other option, go to music and select manual so you can pick which music you place on the iPod. You need to reduce by 5.38GB of information to finish your download. Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • "Podcasts on the iPod 'iPod touch' cannot be synced ....?????

    I'm getting a "Podcasts on the iPod 'iPod touch' cannot be synced because all of the podcasts selected for syncing no longer exist" pop-up when ever I sync.
    Here is a post that seems to addressing the same type of error message for a failed music sync but after reading it I'm not making any sense of how it might relate to the a problem with a podcast sync: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1788041.
    In a reckless attempt to fix the problem I deleted all the playlists which I created in iTunes, then deleted and resubscribed to the podcasts, and then did a sync. But the error still occurs and no podcasts were added to the iTouch (even though the newly resubscribed podcasts are in iTunes on my PC). I also found that I could download a podcast directly to the iTouch without having to subscribe to the podcast in iTunes. But I'd rather be getting the podcasts via the subscription feature that is in iTunes and then syncing them to the iTouch.
    Any ideas what is going on ?
    Thank you.

    After reading your post several times, I think I understand what you are saying, but can we just check the precise sequence of events, for (let's say) one Podcast episode?
    Are you:
    1. downloading the Podcast in iTunes;
    2. Syncing the iPod and therefore placing that Podcast on the Touch;
    3. Listening to the Podcast and then using the delete facility _on the Touch_ to delete that Podcast from the Touch;
    (3A. Adding more Podcasts (and/or music) to your iTunes Library;)
    4. Performing another Sync and getting the message "Podcasts on the iPod 'iPod touch' cannot be synced because all of the podcasts selected for syncing no longer exist"?
    Step 3A may or may not have occurred, it's not crucial. What is important to find out from you, are you deleting Podcasts on the Touch?
    Phil
    Oh, and by the way, if new Podcast are no longer being transferred to the iPod, has the setting for syncing Podcasts been changed? Look on the Podcasts pane when you connect the iPod to iTunes.

  • Can anyone tell me why maps cannot determine my location over wifi?

    can anyone tell me why maps cannot determine my location over wifi?

    If you only have the wifi only version iPad then the location is derived from the router that you are connected to - if it's not in the database that Apple use then your location can't be determined. Only the 3G iPad has a built-in GPS chip. If you have another wifi-only iOS device that does get a location then you could try this https://discussions.apple.com/message/15446656#15446656

  • Found an Ipod touch--how can I locate the owner?

    I found an Ipod touch--how can I locate the owner?  The Ipod requires a passcode.

    You can't. Turn the iPod into your local police department, or the station closest to where you found the iPod. They have resources for identifying and contating the owner, should they wish to take that time.

    After update to ios 5, my ipod touch cannot recharge anymore... it's out of battery now what should I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.

    The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
