IPod Touch Cannot Sync with iTunes

I just got back my iPod touch from an apple store, after i had a previous problem with it restoring but they fixed that problem. Now, when i try to sync my iPod with my itunes library i get tons of different error messages and it doesn't work. Sometimes i will get "The iPod "name of ipod" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found". If I click ok to that message, I get another error message saying "The iPod "name of iPod" cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file." If I try to manually drag songs onto my iPod in itunes, nothing happens at all. At other times when I try to Sync it, I get another error message saying -6999. Now it says The Device Timed Out.
Please help me :S
Also, if i click on like photos, movies or music tabs, it shows the music sign and "Canceling Sync" (on my ipod)

Wow , ok now no matter what i try it says Cannot be synced, the iPod timed out.
Now in an attempt to fix it, i attached the usb cable to the back of the computer, now i get an error message like this "The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13014.
It seems every single error message is against me

i just updated my iPod touch 4G to IOS 5.0.1. after that my ipod cannot synchronise with itunes. during connecting to itunes my ipod seem to be synchronised with itunes but the song or application that i just downloaded did not appear in my ipod.

    - First try a rset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring from backup

  • Ipod touch stopped syncing with itunes since ios 5 upgrade

    Can someone PLEASE ADVISE ME!
I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing.  Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT.  Starting using ios 5 and was loving it.  Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours.  never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes.  Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up.  I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperate

ah now i see your reply in the thread.  well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized.  *** is going on with this stuff.  i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!
I really hope someone can advise me. Cuz i fear I may have to try and revert back to factory and spend like 6 or 7 hours again trying to resync and re set up my ipod

  • IPod touch wont sync with iTunes. Weird errors!

    Anytime I try to sync anything to my iPod touch, I get one of the following error messages;
1.)Attempting to copy to the disk “Duncan’s iPod” failed. There are too many files open currently.
2.)The iPod “Duncan’s iPod cannot be synced. An internal device error occurred.
3.)iTunes could not copy “a song of mine” to the iPod “Duncan’s iPod” because an unknown error occurred [-42].
4.)The iPod “Duncan’s iPod” cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.
5.)The app “various apps” could not be installed on the iPod “Duncan’s iPod” because an unknown error occurred (0xE8008001).
Most of the time, it's either the first or second error, but it changes pretty much every time.
I have tried restoring my iPod (that didn't work), erasing all content and settings on my iPod (that didn't work), even uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes (that didn't work, either!).
Any help, any help AT ALL would be appreciated.

by the looks of thing from what the second person said about using it on other computers it looks like it could be the version of itunes because there was a simuler problem when they brought the first itunes 10.1 out people had problems every where i have the same problem at the moment but i might have a temp fix to it till they fix this but wich is uninstalling itunes and installing an older virsion from filehippo.com hope this helps you i am going to give it a try my self

  • 3rd gen iPod Touch not syncing with iTunes 10.4.1 on Lion?

I've had a 3rd gen 64GB iPod Touch for almost two years now and I've only had one problem with syncing it before. I followed this (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1747) and it helped. But since I updated my MacBook Pro to Lion, this article no longer applies and iTunes hasn't recognized my iPod. My iPod does show up in iPhoto though. Everything is fully updated and I restored my iPod using another computer, but even after doing that my iPod isn't recognized in iTunes. Also, my iPod won't go into recovery mode. It shows the connect to iTunes screen but when I connect it, nothing happens. I've tried restarting my computer and my iPod many times and I've tried everything I know.
Now, since restoring, I have nothing on my iPod and I use it every day so any help would be appreciated.

I figured out how to show the hidden files, but even after doing that, the files weren't there.  On the page that you showed me, it says "Note: These steps do not apply to OS X Lion" and since I am using Lion, it didn't work

  • IPod Touch wont sync with  itunes

So every time i try to sync my ipod touch i get this error message
Attempting to copy to the disk "iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
i recently updated to software update 2.1 and ever since then i cant sync my music
    What do i do?

Your profile states Mac OS X (10.4.8) - is that correct? If so, that's most likely your problem - the iPod Touch requires at least 10.4.10.

  • IPod cannot sync with iTunes

Hello everyone. I have a small problem with my brothers iPod. It cannot sync with iTunes, but mine can sync perfectly. We have the same iPod (Nano, 2GB) but his is black, and mine is white. When the iPod is plugged in, iTunes freezes for a minute or two and then keeps going. When songs are being updates, it freezes, and sometimes says that the source cannot by written to or read from, Any help?

Oh and note that sometimes iTunes thinks its a White iPod but really is Black.
    Help!
Note: i did read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267 and it did not help.

Whenever I try to sync my iPod Touch 5th gen with iTunes I get an error message saying "The iPod "*****" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start". Is there any way I can fix this?

B-rock, thanks for posting the above.  I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\.  When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message.  I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?
    Thank you!

I can't get my ipod touch to sync with my new computer. My old one died. I downloaded itunes and installed music but the ipod will not sync with this new computer. What do I do?

You can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. To switch:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
