Ipod touch Christmas present won't work

I got my daughter an ipod touch 4th gen. 32 gb. having serious trouble getting it to work. Upon connecting it to my pc for the first time I was prompted to have to restore it...didnt understand why a brand new ipod would need to be restored but i tried it anyways. I got several error messages...#1604 unknown error, apple mobile device usb driver faliled, while checking the device manager, under the usb section i got an error code from windows, code 37. I am running a pc with vista home premium. I have been using my nano for years and my daughter had her nano with no problems connecting or synching. Also, my son has had his ipod touch for about two years with no issues...until i tried to connect his today also...now his has the same problem. the device is not recognized by the computer and no drivers could be found for it. i've been thru apple support...i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and all the drivers several times with no luck...ive tried multiple cables to connect them with...still no luck. I gotta tell you, im very frustrated with this by now. i've been working on this all day and my daughter just wants her best gift for this year to work. I really don't know what else to try. All i get on her ipod is a screen showing the cable with an arrow pointing to an itunes logo...will not do anything else. Any help anybody can give would be greatly appreciated!! I just had to buy a new 2nd generation iPod touch because the last one broke. I was mad to find out that my FM tuner and my ihome wasn't supported by the new iPod. Is there any way I won't have to buy all new accessories?

Did you previously have a 2nd generation Touch? On this new Touch, did you install the 3.0 update?

Okay, so my iPod touch was acting wacky. I plugged it into my computer with the USB cable, yadadada. And I started to update to software 4.2.
But when I did that, the iPod had the "connect to iTunes' symbol abd iTunes said that the iPod was in recovery mode. I tried to restore it when iTunes said there was an error restoring. So I tried to restore on a different user but the same error message came up.
I tried restoring it on a different computer and still, the error came up. When I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, the error was still there!
Help, please!!

The ipod did not come with a power cord as we purchased it used from ebay. The ipod was half charged when we received it and it worked well enough to transfer songs to my computer (the previous seller didn't delete their 2000 plus songs). My son then used the same cord on his computer to transfer the songs, but processed an update to the ipod and after that,it wouldn't work. So, I'm not sure if we received a bum ipod, an update issue or we have a charger issue, but the cord we used to transfer the songs came from my son's brand new ipod touch. We've also tried 2 other chargers from ipods we have in the house, 1 being a wall charger.
One individual posted online that he took his ipod classic, mac and phone overseas with one charger and it worked fine on all but the classic. So, I'm thinking that they cords may not be universal. Online I've read that it must be a 6 pin firewire, high power 2.0 usb cord. Or that I need to purchase an applie charger. We don't live close to an apple store and I'm reluctant to order one just to have it NOT work.
My daughter is learning the hard way that buying off of ebay is not always the best solution to a cash strapped 12 year old.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

Seems to be an Apple or FB app problem. Nothing you can do but wait for it to be fixed.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Files cannot be downloaded from Safari on an iPod touch.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPod touch 2nd g won't sync with iTunes

My iPad 3 syncs with my MacBook 2007, Lion only, through iCloud but now my iPod touch 2nd g won't sync at all through iTunes. So does this mean it can no longer sync with my computer? The "sync iPod" under edit in iTunes 10 latest version is dimmed and won't sync.
I suspect I have to give up the iCloud and live manually.
Apple used to just work. Now I feel I'm swimming in the land of MS.

Can you describe your problem further? Are you getting any error messages in iTunes? Just appearing to sync as normal?

My ipod touch 4th gen won't pair with my aluratech istream universal bluetooth audio receiver. It automatically paired the first time I used it, but now will not pair. I removed the bluetooth receiver from the ipod because it kept saying make sure the receiver device is on and within range. Now it doesn't even detect the bluetooth receiver. Any ideas?

My iPod Touch (4th generation) won't connect to my house wifi that it's always connected to. I tried forgetting the network, and putting the password in again, several times. I've tried restarting my iPod, turning the wifi on & off, and also turning the router off and back on but none of this has helped. After I forgot the network and typed the password back in it just kept saying 'loading' and eventually it stops loading but still doesn't connect. It also shows other peoples wifi's but I haven't tried to connect to theres to see if it works. It just started doing this yesterday at this other place I was at but i just figured it was their wifi because when I got home that night it worked just fine but today it started doing it again at my house and I don't know what to do. Please Help!

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indiacte a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If you mean the headphones work but the speaker does not:
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
