Ipod touch - Clock/alarm

I love the touch, the clock and alarm functions though are a pain. I set the alarm and when the time is up a polite massage appears on the screen to inform of the fact....no sound is omitted... and yes the settings are set to sound and yes when I chose one of the sounds and on selection I can audible hear the sound but not when alarm is set or when timer is used (it tells me that "when Timer Ends checkmate") BUT NO SOUND
So help if you can

i have this issue too but i found out there's only a half cure for it. i managed to get the alarm to work by plugging in my ipod to itunes and then restart it by switching it off and on again(hold sleep button and slide to switch off).
that being done, i can have the alarm play through the built-in speaker and headphone even though i've set it to off in my sound settings. but the thing is, when you sync your ipod to your itunes again, the same problem returns unless you do the procedure again (switch it off and on).
hopefully the next update will see a fix for this.

  • Ipod Touch 3g - alarms are silent, so not very useful!

I have a 3rd generation touch that works great for most things, only last night for the first time I tried setting an alarm (not an app - the built-in alarms on the Clock page). My problem is that I can't really hear it. If I crank the volume way way up with earphones in, I can just about make out, say, marimba or alarm, but with the phones unplugged, or volume at normal, it's hopeless.
In Settings, Sounds, all 5 items are set to On (although none seem relevant to an alarm anyway).
How is this supposed to work???

Wow... I'd have thought this would've been a simple one. So either no one uses an ipod touch 3g for an alarm clock, or there's something very peculiar about mine.

  • IPod Touch 4G Alarm Volume

I just purchased a new 4G Touch and got it all set up with the data from my 3G and noticed right away that the volume for the clock alarm was about half as loud as the 3G. I remember hearing of issues with the alarm due to the setting for the new year but I can't see where this would affect the volume.
Any ideas, and yes the volume is all the way up.

I had the same problem - go into your settings, sound, and there is a separate volume for "Ringer and Alerts" you can slide it up to full volume or turn on the "Change with Buttons" feature.

  • Why does my iPod Touch clock go back 1 hour?

I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch. It's been working fine but lately my iPod's clock would go back one hour. I changed the clock back to the real time then it would go back maybe fifteen minutes later. After I changed it again, it was fine for the day and it turned back an hour later. I turned off my iPod twice and the same thing happens.
Please help because I don't know what I should do.
    Thank you.

I have the same problem. The clock is going crazy and go back one hour. Exactly one hour. It happened when I use an app which goes to twitter (echofon, hotsuite, twitter...). But some time it does it when I go to app store... I have reset my ipod, change the language, bhut it still does it. I have chez my time zone on my itouch and in my twitter acount. They match.

  • IPod Touch clock app fails to sleep in 3.0

It seems that since the 3.0 update, the clock app fails to 'sleep' my iPod Touch (1st gen) when the set time elapses -- allowing the ipod to run all night, and completely drain the battery. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with the clock app?

  • 2nd Gen iPod touch clock loses eight minutes

I set the time on my touch to the correct time. It stays correct for a while, but sometime over the next day, I discover that the clock is eight minutes slow. Clearly not a time zone or syncing thing (my MBP's clock is accurate). What else could it be? Any ideas?

I don't know what is causing it but I would restart it (hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the slider switch and turn it off) or reset it (hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons down together until you see the Apple logo).
Either one of those activities will most likely fix it. However, if they do not, plug it in to iTunes and restore it.

  • Looking for a good sound dock/alarm clock for iPOD Touch 4

I saw one other post asking about a sound dock here and out of the 3 responses, I think only the Bose was mentioned.
I was just curious if and/or what sound dock/alarm clock combos you all would recommend? I just got a hold of the White Noise app and I would like to be able to use it through a sound dock in my bedroom as I sleep with a fan at night and the audio output on the iPOD Touch itself is not loud enough.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg either on a sound dock/alarm clock if at all possible.
    Thanks,
    Whiteice

Altec Lansing. Im using the 'inMotion compact' and for its size it gives a h*ll of a punch with bass wise. As for as price goes, its reasonable.

  • Ipod Touch 3G no longer plays clock alarm sounds and just pauses and shows alarm messages.

All of a sudden, I am no longer able to hear clock alarm sounds like I used to.  Until recently, I was able to just play a music file, set the clock alarm with any sound from the selection while being able to preview the sound before I saved it, and then have it play at the time I set the alarm.  Now, whatever music I'm playing just pauses while the alarm goes off and the alarm messages are visble on screen. I went to settings--->general-->sounds and everything is on.  What happened here?

Yes, I did. All I needed to do was raise the volume from zero to above using the *actual buttons on the side* of the device instead of just the touch screen volume control. If you try to adjust the volume using *only* the touchscreen volume control, the sound of your music and videos will be affected directly as you desire, BUT if the volume control from the *actual buttons on the side* is completely down, the alarm clock will not sound.
I hope this helps. It may not make sense right off the bat but do give it a try.

  • Is there an alarm clock feature on the new iPod Touch?

Is there a feature (menu item) that allows you to set a time at which the internal speaker will play a selected playlist?
If not, is there some sort of App that would allow for this?

Well, maybe they are listening, but it seems to me they are not interested in what we are saying.
I already posted feedback twice because of this issue and I know of others who did so too. Nobody never even got an answer. Not even an automated one. And more than 8 months and 3 firmware updates later, the feature is still missing.
I guess the suspicion some others have raised that this has been made intentionally so you can't use music as alarm tones because Apple wants to sell ringtones for the iPhone that uses the same firmware basis as the iPod Touch, unfortunately seems to be true. This is the only believable explanation for the lack of this feature I have ever been offered. And it would explain, why Apple may be listening, but is not interested in changing it.
For those waiting for an application to solve the problem: It will not happen. Apples restrictions for applications do not allow a program that could do this.

  • My iPod touch 3rd generation won't play on my iPod dock when the alarm I set goes off. It plays normally and charges, but it won't work with the alarm. Could it be the iPod dock or my iPod?

My iPod touch just recently started doing this: I plug it in to my Sony iPod dock/alarm clock/radio. It charges fine and plays music fine, but when I set the alarm for it to go off, it doesn't go off. I can see that the dock is indicating that the alarm is going off, but the iPod isn't playing music. Could it be my iPod or the dock?
Also, there were 2 times when I plugged in my iPod to charge (once with a wall charger and once with the dock) and it said that it was fully charged. But it wasn't fully charged. I bought one of those iPod wall chargers from Target. It's not an Apple charger, but it is for iPods. Could it be that?
I'm going to try to reset my iPod and see if that helps any.

I have contacted apple support and Bose support.  When I have heard back will post for everyone.  I do encourage everyone to contact both companies until we get an answer to hopefully solve this issue.  The more people who contact them about the issue, maybe the better chance they will help fix the issue.

  • How can I silence everything but the alarm on my iPod Touch?

I have the 5th Generation iPod Touch and I have a problem. If I turn the ringer/alerts/etc. tones down I don't hear my alarm clock in the morning but if I keep them up loud enough to wake me then app push notifications, emails, etc. are prone to waking me in the night as well. I don't want to disable all those notifications, just silence them at night.
I've seen threads asking this regarding the iPhones and apparently they have a switch or something but I'm not sure about the Touch. How can I silence everything except the alarms?

You could go to Setting > Sounds > Text Tone or etc. and change them to None. But then you will have to set them back in the morning. But there is no other way then to mute all ringer and alerts.
