IPod Touch clock app fails to sleep in 3.0

It seems that since the 3.0 update, the clock app fails to 'sleep' my iPod Touch (1st gen) when the set time elapses -- allowing the ipod to run all night, and completely drain the battery. Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with the clock app?

    - You can redownload yur apps at no additional cost.  See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
    - You only get one download of music and it is up to you to make a backup.  However, sometimes if you explain what happens the iTunes store may allow a redownload of music.  You can contact them by starting here and selecting the appropriate topic:

Yeah, i found the file 'iPod touch app pack 4a93.ipa' in mobile application directory, which directory in Mac should i copy to? Is it \user\<name>\music\iTunes ?
    Hi,
I think that is the old "January update", I'm not so sure it is necessary to transfer that one but it would go here -
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
Look here for the latest 2.0 etc. updates -
    C:\Documents and Settings\"name"\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
Even then I'm not sure even these are required but best back them up to be safe.
I'm not sure where the go in Mac OS X though.
I'm sure someone will let us know soon.

Is it possible to add virtual sleep/wake buttons and volume buttons to my home screen?

No. Assistive oud was first introduced in either iOS 5 or 6 but your 2G can only go to 4.2.1

Correct. That error indicates you have a 2G iPod. You say you have an 8 GB 3G iPod there is not such thing. Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods. You have a 2G iPod.

  • IPod Touch / iPhone app "Remote"

Does anyone else attempt to use this to remote control your AppleTV ?
I was full of expectation when I went through the hassles of setting up an iTunes account on my junk email address (and without having to submit my credit card details - sorry, call me luddite, but I like to buy my music albums and movies and tv series on optical media, usually for less than iTunes is charging).
Then I find that the iPod Touch remote will only show iTunes purchased movies and tv shows, and not the "shared", personal movies / tv shows. Anyone with children of their own will understand, I have hundreds of home movie clips I want available.
I guess the "networking" between the iMovie and iDVD departments and the AppleTV department is broken, and has been since Take 2 was planned.

This must be where I'm going wrong.
I have nothing synced - all turned off when I setup after the "update" to Take 2. I previously had all my TV shows (including all my home movies) sync'd but the wireless speed is so fast and reliable I've gone back to stream everything.
I have only the one library ("Mac Pro Library") connected at the Apple TV. To play anything not purchased from iTunes, I have to select "Shared Movies" (or Shared TV Shows, etc), the "My Movies" shows nothing, presumably because I don't sync anything.
Are you saying that I could change some setting to get the whole streamed library content through the "My Movies" (or My TV Shows, etc) menu, and therefore possibly through the iPod Touch "Remote" app ?
I'm also a little miffed that the "Shared Movies" are not sorted by the "Sort Name" in iTunes in Take 2 v2.1. Apple TV v1.0 didn't sort by sort name either, but v1.1 did.
I factory restored to v1.0. Do I miss Take 2 ? LOL. I might use it if there was one good thing about it. Or it offered me some flexible access to my own content. Is there anything WOW I'm missing ?

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect to iTunes and update via iTunes. Others have had the same problem.

  • 1st gen iPod Touch, old app no longer runs

I have a first generation iPod Touch, version 3.1.3.  About a year ago I bought an app, "Converter Plus (Universal)", and it worked fine until recently when I received notice of an update.  There were a few app updates and all loaded successfully except the Converter Plus (Universal) which gave me an error message that the software I have does not support the updated app.  I understand and accept that my old iPod Touch does not support most (almost all) new apps.  The problem, however, is that the old Converter Plus (Universal) app that worked fine for a year no longer runs.  I try to open it, the initial screen pops up but shuts down right away.  I can only assume that when the recent update was attempted but failed it somehow messed up the old app.  Is there any way to restore the old version of the app so I can go back to using it?  The app only cost $1.99 so it is hardly the end of the world if I cannot use it any more, but I am worried all my other older apps (some of which receive regular updates) might also stop working and that just seems wrong to me.  Feels like I am being robbed.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try deleting the version of that app that is in your iTunes library. Then do the following:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Then delete the app from your iPod and sync the app back to your iPod and see if it works.
    - Next try restoring from backup. Make sure that all the apps that are compatible with 3.1.3 are in your iTunes library so they can be synced back as part of the restore from backup.
    - Last, restore to factory settings/new iPod and sync your media to the iPod.

  • New iPod Touch - no App Store app on it.........

So, my 11 yr old got a new iPod Touch 4.3.4 for her birthday, and several recurring problems:
    1. No App Store app on the device, and i cannot find out how to install it.  In General/Settings/Store, my log-in an pw is set, but without the App Store 'app' (sic), it's of no use. How do I get it installed on the device ?
    2. Using Safari, even to Apple.com, pages will not load - I'm getting 2 recurring error messages:  The first says 'Cannot Open Page - Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occured'  - and this from a link on Apples own webpage.
The other error message I get a lot is 'Cannot Open Page - Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid'      This from clicking on a link on Apple's own webpage.
    Can anyone help ?

    Regarding the App store:
    - Have you used the Spotlight search on the iPod to find it?
    - Do you have restrictions set on the iPod such that the App store is hidden? Go to Settings>General>Restrictions to check.
    For Safari try:
    - Going to Settings>Safari and deleting cookies, cache and history
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Resetting network settings>Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Do other devices work OK through your router?

  • IPod Touch (2nd generation) fails to sync correctly under Windows 7 SP1.

My 2nd generation iPod touch has started acting strange since I installed the latest service pack to Windows 7. It worked fine prior to this, but since I've updated to service pack 1, I've been unable to sync my applications properly and when I attempt to restore the iPod to the original factory settings I get the following message: "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)". I've attempted both an update on an existing Windows 7 installation and on a "clean" installation where I install the OS, then the service pack and then the iTunes software (latest version 10.2.0.34). The second method worked to sync my iPod touch intially, but a day later after I downloaded updates to some of my purchased apps, these programs failed to sync to the iPod as they were not "signed". I've authorized and deauthorized my computer as suggested, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and backed up my iTunes library as suggested. The problem continues and I'm more than a little frustrated by this. The sync fails and I end up with a iPod with NO content on it. Or, when the restore fails I have an iPod that's looking for a connection to iTunes. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Why does my iPod Touch clock go back 1 hour?

I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch. It's been working fine but lately my iPod's clock would go back one hour. I changed the clock back to the real time then it would go back maybe fifteen minutes later. After I changed it again, it was fine for the day and it turned back an hour later. I turned off my iPod twice and the same thing happens.
Please help because I don't know what I should do.
    Thank you.

I have the same problem. The clock is going crazy and go back one hour. Exactly one hour. It happened when I use an app which goes to twitter (echofon, hotsuite, twitter...). But some time it does it when I go to app store... I have reset my ipod, change the language, bhut it still does it. I have chez my time zone on my itouch and in my twitter acount. They match.
