Ipod touch compatable BBS

I was asked by some people at work to find out if there is a bulletin board system that is compatable with the ipod touch. I know that some websites don't work properly because of issues with plugins (flash and java) not working. So if there is a BBS, preferably free, that we could install on a inhouse server that would work with the touch it would help alot.

phpBB works out-of-the-box. But you can also customise it via styles especially for iPhone/iPod touch. http://www.phpbb.com/
E.g. http://code.google.com/p/phpbb-iphone-style/
Visit the demo site in Safari either on the iPhone, or the desktop Safari with the user-agent set to Mobile Safari.
It looks just like the iPhone user interface.
Other options available from a google search for "phpbb iphone style"

  • IPod Touch Compatibility with iPod Classic accessories

    Hi,
I'm considering buying an iTouch. I currently own an iPod classic and have the car charger/player, camera connector and wall charger. Is the iPod Touch compatible with these items?

if you have an iTrip with the power supply for the car, i can most assuredly confirm they do work, i had an ipod 5th gen, the first video and i just got the touch, the wall charger should also work b/c it is the same size as the itrip, as for camera, i have no clue, hope this helps

  • IPhone + iPod Touch compatability?

Hi, is it possible to use apps (games, etc) with an iPod Touch and iPhone, if they both have the same app? Thanks.

It is possible, but it is not legal for you to share your apps with a friend.

  • IHome with iPod touch compatibility

I'm thinking of getting an iHome but I was wondering if the alarm function still works and everything else.

I own two iHomes, older models, which I used with a really old iPod (the one with four buttons above the click wheel!). Recently, I bought an iPod Touch, and it works fine with my iHome clock radios. It plugs into the dock connector on top, and I can wake to music from my iPod Touch just fine. Every once in a while, if I plug it in and then hit the "iPod" button, I have to unplug the iPod Touch and then plug it in again, but it always works.
The only drawback with the iHome is that you cannot adjust the volume of the wake up alarm. Whether you wake to the radio or the alarm or the iPod it always comes on pretty loud. I wish I could turn it town a little, as it does not take that much to wake me. But if I turn on the iPod to "sleep" mode I can set the volume wherever I want, do to sleep to music, and it shuts off fine. In the morning, it wakes me to wherever the iPod left off, just at the default louder volume setting.
Hope this helps! I love having an iHome in the bedroom, and another in the kitchen. I use them both all the time.

  • 5th generation ipod touch & Nike+ compatibility

    Hi guys
I bought yesterday a pair of Nike shoes equiped with Nike+ technology which I'm willing to use. In fact my shoes carry the nike+ technology of the following type:
    http://www.nike.com/plus/products/training/
According to Nike, the nike+ technology is compatible with iphone (3GS,4, 4S) or ipod touch 3rd and 4th generation
    http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/support/#answers/detail/a_id/25469/session/L3RpbWU vMTM0OTI0NjQwOC9zaWQvWkYyUHVNN2w%3D/p/3169,3700
As I don't have an iphone (I might by iphone 5 but next year), I'll have to go for an ipod touch in order to be able and monitor my activity. And here are my questions regarding compatibility:
    1. Is the new ipod touch (5th gen) compatible with nike+?
    2. If yes, does it carry the nike+ sensor in its body (like the iphone 4s) or do I need to plug the Nike+ sport adapter?
    3. If I need to plug the nike+ sport adapter, I suppose that I'll also need one Lightning to 30pin adapter, right?
    4. Are older/other ipod devices compatible with Nike+ technology? i.e. ipod nano?

I found the answer at the main site. the 5th gen. ipod touch IS compatible with nike+ and has the nike+ sensor built in...

  • I have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?

i have an ipod touch second gen, how can i download the facebook app if it says its not compatable with my current iOS?
i had the facebook app but i could never upgrade it and i was ok with using the outdated version but when i reset the ipod so i could gift it to a friend it obviously got rid of the app and now i cant downloaded because it says its not compatable, how can i download the version i had before i reset it?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Is there a compatibility issue with the iPod Touch 4th generation and the TomTom carkit that worked fine with my 1st generation iPod Touch?

I recently purchased a new iPod Touch. The "keyboard" of my first generation was beginning to play up, but it still worked fine with my TomTom carkit (if you'll allow for the fact that being restricted to OS 3 meant you couldn't update the software either). But, contrary to what I'd been told, the fourth generation one refuses to work. I think it's making contact because I hear the connection beep, but it  doesn't charge up or seem able to find the satellite connection. I've seen someone saying it was a physical width problem. If it's making contact, why isn't it capable to pick up a signal? Is there a compatibility issue after all?

Got you! Why this didn't come up in my search before, have no idea. So it's all a question of design... How mean not to inform manufacturers of accessories about the change in specs. About to try the folded-over business card solution and then Velcro if the former doesn't give satisfaction. Did actually buy a silicon case, but it makes the protective filter buckle as it gets under the edges which isn't exactly useful. Went back to my previous leather case which I have to remove to use the car kit...

  • Apple wireless keyboard and iPod Touch 4th gen. compatibility?

Can Apple's wireless keyboard work using an ipod touch 4th gen? Both are bluetooth compatible and there's a pages app for iPod/iPhone? Just curious.....

I've found the answer - funny enough on Bose's website.
There is a compatibility chart here http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/pop-up/PopupiPod_compatibilitychart.jsp
So the 4th Gen Touch DOES work fine with the Original SoundDock

  • Current app compatibility issues on iPod Touch!

I have a 2nd Generation iPod Touch which I've had for a couple of years and I've never experienced any problems with it until the most recent update on the version of software it's running. Since the 4.2.1 update I am no longer able to run some apps on my device and I can't understand why. The two apps in question that won't run are...
djay for iPhone & iPod touch (Version 1.2)
    The 7th Guest (Version 7.2)
Everytime I attempt to sync either of these two apps it comes up with an error message stating "The app was not installed on the iPod because it is not compatible with this iPod". Now I've looked around at other problems with app compatibility issues and most people say that you should simply update the iPod. My device is currently up to date so I can't understand why these apps aren't working. Is it because the hardware itself on the 2nd Gen iPod is simply out of date? Any help or insight into this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

Your iPod's hardware is insufficient. djay for iPhone & iPod touch requires an iPod touch 3rd generation or later (per the developer's web site), and The 7th Guest requires iOS 4.3 or later which will only run on a 3rd-gen iPod touch. If you want to run these two apps, you'll need to get a new, or at least newer, iPod.
    Regards.

  • 1st gen ipod touch apps compatability

We have 1st gen ipod touch's. Kids say that facebook and You Tube dont work on it. Apparently ios software is too old and cant be upgraded?
    Is this true?

Unfortunately yes it is.  The newest version of the Facebook app require iOS 4 or later.  The 1G iPod Touch can only be updated as high as iOS 3.1.3 and there are no downloads of older versions of the app available in the App Store.
However, YouTube should still work as it is a default app that comes preloaded with iOS.

Does anyone know if my ipod touch running 3.1.3 will work with my new machine? eventually, I'll either get an iPhone or? Not right now. I just use the iPod from music in my truck. Ideas?
    Cheers

  • Power charger compatibility with ipod touch 3 gen

I have an ipod classic that came with one of the USB/dock power chargers about 5 years ago.
I had a look at the ipod touch 3rd gen & it apparently isn't compatible with that charger - 1 gen & 2 gen are, but not 3 gen. So is there a charger that will work, or can you get a different USB/dock cable to use for the ipod touch?

There are third-party chargers. Just do a Google search. Or you can buy a charger from Apple's Online Store.

  • Portable DVD Player Compatable with iPod touch?

Does anyone know of a portable DVD player compatible with iPod touch that has a reasonable battery life? Philips makes a portable DVD player - the DCP 851 - that has an iPod touch dock, but the battery life is only 2.5 hrs. There are several other portable DVD players out there with substantially longer battery lives (Panasonic has one with a 13 hr. battery life), but generally they don't seem to be compatible with an iPod (most appear to only have A/V input through a mini jack, and I can't seem to find an iPod-to-mini jack converter). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It will only require that you change the security and password on your other devices. Apple devices work much better with WPA, and WPA is far more secure than WEP.
It should be relatively simple to re-configure the router's wireless security to use WPA2 or WPA Personal security. WPA passwords do not require any special characters like WEP does. Once you re-configure the router all you need do is make the appropriate changes in your other devices to use WPA security and enter the new password.

  • IPod Touch 2G Compatability

I have a 2G iPod touch and a iHome2Go. When I connect the two, my iPod says "charging not supported with this device". However, my iPod still plays music on the iHome2Go fine. Should I keep using the speakers or will they damage my iPod?
    Thanks

When I connect the two, my iPod says "charging not supported with this device". However, my iPod still plays music on the iHome2Go fine. Should I keep using the speakers (iHome2Go) or will they damage my iPod?
Apple switched iPod charging from FireWire to USB a couple of years ag, but up to the 2nd gen touch, iPods would work with either and manufacturers didn't make the switch to USB charging.
You won't damage your touch playing with the iHome2Go; it just won't charge your touch.

  • HT1689 Why am I getting compatibility errors for FIFA 12 on my 3rd Generation iPod Touch?

I just bought FIFA 12 for my iPod Touch 3rd Generation.  I Tunes store is telling me that the software is up to date, yet I can not sync the app because it is telling me that it is not compatible with my iPod...

    - Reset the iPOd. Nothing will be ost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
