IPod Touch Connecting Through Airport with Access Control

Assistance requested.
I want to connect my iPod Touch to my Airport wireless network. I have access controlled to my wireless network so that only devices with an Airport ID specified in the Airport configuration may connect to my wireless network.
Does the iPod Touch have an Airport ID that I can enter into my Airport configuration? I realy do not want to make my wireless network open to anyone.
Thank you,
Doug

Sorry,
Thank you for the contribution. I found my own answer with some searching on the iPod. This was my solution in case somebody else is having a similar problem.
Required address (Airport ID) of the iPod was found as follows:
Settings
General
About
Wi-Fi Address
Added the Wi-Fi Address to my Airport Access Control List.
On the iPod performed the following:
Settings
Wi-Fi
Choose Another Network
Typed in the wireless network name (case-sensitive)
Selected the proper security protocall
Typed in the password to access my Airport Network
Click Join
Problems connecting were resolved and my network remained closed to people not pre-approved to access it.

  • Problems sharing internet connection through Airport with a PS3

Does anybody know how to share an internet connection wirelessly with a PS3? I've tried everything including following directions from the tech support people from both Sony and my ISP (Verizon) and nothing works. Last time I've talked to Verizon I've obtained a IP number from them as Sony recommended and that did not work either. Is anybody out there with a PS3 sharing the internet connection through Airport successfully? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.!!

    Let's double-check your Mac's Internet Sharing settings ...
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wired to Wireless):
    Setup the Network
    Cable Modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[Ethernet port] Mac > (wireless) > PS3
    Enable Software Firewall
System Preferences > Security > Firewall
o Block all incoming connections (enabled)
    Enable Internet Sharing
    System Preferences > Sharing
o Select "Internet Sharing" from the options in the left column
o Share your connection from: Built-in Ethernet
o To computers using: AirPort (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
    AirPort Options...
    o Network Name: <anything you want>
    o Channel: Automatic
o Enable encryption (using WEP) (optional)
    o Password: (optional)
    o Confirm Password: (optional)
    o WEP Key Length: (optional)
    o Click OK
    o Select "Internet Sharing" again
o Click "Start" to start Internet Sharing
    o Click Start

  • ITunes quits when I refresh podcasts with iPod touch connected

If I click the "refresh podcast" button in iTunes (version 11.3.1.2) while my iPod touch (32G capacity currently with 4.5G available; still running iOS 5.1.1) is connected, iTunes quits. If the iPod is not connected, the refresh runs just fine; any available podcasts are downloaded. I'm running iTunes on Windows 7 with all the latest security updates. This issue first occurred August 16, 2014.

That sounds like you've engaged one of the automatic syncing options for your nano.
Plug the nano in, and go into the Device screen for the nano in itunes. Is "manually manage ..." unchecked? If so, check the box for it, and click okay. Disconnect and reconnect the nano. Is the content on the nano able to be selected in your iTunes now?

  • MacBook loses wireless connection when iPod touch connects to network

    hi
ever since upgrading to 10.5.5. on my MacBook i've had the "intermittent network connection" problems that have been described and discussed (without any real solution from what i can see) in another thread.
PROBLEM: every couple of minutes my MacBook loses connectivity to the network - the AirPort icon still says that i'm connected, albeit with one less bar than before, but i can't connect to anywhere, not even to the wireless router - and to re-establish a connection i need to switch off AirPort, switch it back on, it will then reconnect, and after two minutes or so i have to do it all over again because the network connection drops again.
NOVEL OBSERVATION 1: reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater helped somewhat. i used to get an error in system.log about there being too many state transitions on the wireless network and about network traffic reduction measures being taken to overcome this problem, but after reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater this message never appears in the logs and I get kicked off only sometimes (see what i say in point 2 below)
NOVEL OBSERVATION 2: now my MacBook will only lose its connection to the net if i switch on my iPod Touch and switch its wireless interface on. in fact, the only way to avoid the MacBook getting constantly disconnected is to make sure that the wireless interface on the Touch is switched off in the Touch's system preferences; if I just sleep the Touch (top button) without switching off its wireless network interface first in its System Preferences, then the MacBook will keep disconnecting even while the Touch is in sleep mode (presumably the Touch keeps polling the network or something, even while it's in sleep mode).
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 1: I have another wireless device (my Nokia E51, which has wifi capabilities) and if I connect it to the wireless interface then the MacBook's connection isn't dropped - i.e. the MacBook only loses its wireless connection when my iPod Touch connects to the wireless network.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 2: I have upgraded my wireless router (before I had a Linksys WRT-54GC, now I have a Netgear WGR614v9) but that has made no difference.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 3: I have also tried altering the router's settings (i have played around a_lot with this, trying every combination I could think of - e.g. staple down particular devices to particular ip addresses, use only 802.11g versus automatic b/g, etc) but that has made no difference either.
    RANT:
The only thing that prevents these disconnections from occurring is to keep the iPod Touch's wireless switched off, which ***** because if I'm in the kitchen I can't have it switched on to monitor my email (yes, I've no life, i hang around waiting for emails), or if I go have a lie down and want to check out stuff on the net, or to browse the iTunes music store or whatever, then I know that my connecting my iPod Touch the computer will be disconnected.
This obviously *****, right? And a lot of people are having wireless problems with their MacBooks, right? And these problems seem to have been around for over a year, right?
So why hasn't Apple solved this problem yet? Or am I just being melodramatic?
Your thoughts on any or all of the above, or flames if that's your preferred method of communicating, are invited. =)
    Cheers

Having the same problem here. As a first time mac user, Apple has certainly made a bad first impression.
For me, the issue seems to occur when transferring files between computers that are connected to the same access point (when transferring files from wired computers on the network there is no issue). My vista laptop and every laptop I have tried has worked perfectly fine with this access point so I am 100% convinced it is the mac. Basically when I copy the files, after about 100mb, I am unable to access anything on the local network or internet until I restart Airport. The weird thing is that even though I am unable to access anything, the airport utility says it is connected. I might also note that the wireless signal strength is full.
If I can't get this figured out in a few days, this computer is going back to the store where it came from and I will officially label myself anti-mac. This type of issue is just unacceptable for something so main stream.

  • Piggybacking my iPod Touch onto my iMac to access the Internet

There is no WiFi available but my iMac is online. What do you think? Can I piggyback my iPod Touch onto my iMac to access the Internet .. on my iPod Touch?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.
    Michael

If your iMac is connected to the internet via an ethernet cable, you can indeed set up an ad hoc wireless network for your touch. Here's what you need to do:
    1. Turn on the Airport
    2. Go to System Preferences > Internet & Wireless > Sharing
    3. Set up your computer to share the ethernet connection with the Airport and you have a wireless network.
While this can be done, I really suggest you do this via a wireless router as it offers better firewall protection.

  • Can't play home videos made on ipod touch 4g  through apple tv 2

The videos downloaded from itunes work, but I bought the apple tv so i could watch my personal videos made with the ipod touch 4g, 1 out of 10 tries it works after exiting the camera and going back in but it only allows one video to be watched.

LOL OK for some odd reason now I can't access my videos made with ipod touch 4g through the photos icon. The "Albums" title sits on top of the "camera roll" folder making it impossible to touch and access it. Anyone else have this problem? I think I will just return my apple tv 2, it's just been frustrating.

  • Ipod Touch Went Through washing Machine

So my ipod touch went through the wassh but not the dryer. I know, it was really stupid. So, i put my ipodd in a bag of rice for a week and it seemed to absorb all the water out of the screen. The ipod looks like it is in perfect condition.
however, It only turns on if it is plugged in with an old ipod cable, going through firewire. As soon as i unplug it, it turns off. for a while, it connected to my itunes but ever since i reset it, it hasn't. Another problem is when i go to general setting it says i have "No WI-FI"
I don't have extended warranty. is it time to say goodbye to it or is there anything i can do?

Warranty does not cover damage, only defects. Putting it through the wash cycle is not a defect.
Time for a new IPT, most likely. Some credit cards offer damage coverage, perhaps home owners/renters insurance (although the deductible is likely higher than the value of the IPT).

  • My daughter forgot her passcode on her new ipod touch.  How do I access it?  The message says ipod disabled.  I've tried resetting by holding on/off and home but hasn't worked

My daughter forgot her passcode on her brand new ipod touch.  How do I access it now?  The message reads, "ipod disabled".  I've tried holding the on/off button and home button until I see an apple.  Then asks me to connect to itunes.  When trying to connect to itunes, it will not let me as it asks for the ipod touch's passcode (which we do not have!)  What next?

Did you use the instructions I provided in the document above?  It can be a bit tricky getting the device into recovery mode.  Try a few more times.
