Symptoms that may have occurred with an unsuccessful restore may include a frozen screen—either at the Apple logo or some other application—or the device may repeatedly reset.
Talks about a force restore mode.

Max12345281, since the poster says he has iOS 4.1.2 he very likely has a 2G iPod and those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

On my PC, in I-Tunes, the iPod (touch) button disappears every time I try to sync or update.  Everything has been rebooted, but no changes. Any ideas on how to sync to the IPod?  Better yet, how to keep the ipod button on screen when itunes is open and the ipod is connected?

    - Have you tried another USB port and cable?
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • I have an ipod touch it is either a second or third edition and i have just had to restore it to factory setting as it was not working and now the wifi on the device is no longer working. Is there anything i can do about this?

i have an ipod touch it is either a second or third edition and i have just had to restore it to factory setting as it was not working and now the wifi on the device is no longer working. Is there anything i can do about this?

    Is it this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

    Otherwise:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Streaming freezing while playing, unless I touch the screen every few seconds to keep the streaming actively flowing.

Streaming from iPad, through an app and the streaming will stop unless I touch the screen which seems to wake it up and will begin from where it stopped. Can anyone tell me why it does this? Kind of makes watching something a little annoying. It's as if the iPad goes to sleep, which stops the streaming. Is there a way to keep the streaming going without having to touch the screen every few seconds to have a the streaming continue as a steady feed?
    Thanks,
    David H.

If you are streaming through an app it may need it to be awake so it can receive the feed on the iPad and then airplay it, depending on how  the app functions. You can set the auto lock to never

  • Merging iCal & iPod Touch Calendar at every Sync

I accidentally erased all events in my iCal. How can I import the Calendar in my iPod Touch back into iCal through iTune. In other words, how can I merge iCal & iPod Touch Calendar at every sync, rather than just from iCal to iPod?

  • My brother's iPod touch 4 crashes every once and a while on all games

My little brother's iPod touch 4g 8gb suddenly crashes in all his games.
I have to restart it every time because it wont let enter any game, after restarting it, they work again, but then around 3 or 4 hours of playing, they crash again!!!
I have an iPhone 4 16gb with half of the games he has, but all the ones he plays most, and from all of the 72 apps and games i have installed, they never crash. I barely have to restart or shut down my iPhone for any reason.
Does restarting it lots of times afect the battery life of the iPod?
If so, how can i prevent this from happening every time.
I cant restore it because its jailbreaked and he doesnt want to lose anything.
If there is a solution for it without having to restore, i would really appreciate if anyone could help me, if restoring is the only option then ill try and see if i can do anything.
And by the way, this isnt so important since he doesnt use iMessage or Timeface, but he cant activate it, after choosing the mail to use with it, it just loads but then it returns to the first part, where it tells you a short description of what is does and the activate button. That happens successively making him unable to activate niether of them.
    Thanks

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation; every time I try to back up and update, I get error -43. Help?

My iPod Touch is a 4th generation running on iOS 4.3.3, and I want to update to the more recent iOS 6.1.2; however, when I connect to iTunes to back up/update, about 3/4 of the way through the backing up, I get error message -43, telling me that continuing will result in the loss of all the contents on my device. I don't know how to fix this, and it happens every time I try to update. Solutions/advice is greatly appreciated.

  • I have an ipod touch 4. Every time I try to purchase a song in itunes it kicks me out

I have an ipod touch 4th generation running on ios 6.1.6. Everytime I try to purchase a song from itunes, it kicks me out and right back to my home screen. What can I do to fix this?? Does anyone know what the problem might be?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It sounds like the App is crashing.  Since it's a built in app and you can't delete and re-download it, try these troubleshooting steps.
    1) Restart your iPod.
    2) Backup your iPod.
    3) Reset All Settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings on the iPod.
    4) Restore the iOS via iTunes.
    5) Restore your backup that you created from Step 2.

  • IPod Touch restore after every charge?

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation, my battery life is probably around average for the age.
Everytime the battery on my iPod dies, I have to reconnect it to iTunes and completely restore it to factory settings.
I get a message that states my files could not be read, and that I have to connect to iTunes.
This only happens when I forget to charge it, and the battery completly dies. I cant seem to find any links to someone with the same problem.
Can anyone help me fix this, or if not tell me why this is happening? All of my software is up to date

As a test, just try restoring to factory settings/new iPod. The let the battery fully drain. If it happens then that indicates a hardware problem. It could be because of the battery or some other problem.

  • My apps on my iPod touch only open for a second then close, I tried the reset option of holding down the power button for ten seconds still no apps that I have down loaded will open just the one that are on the iPod like music app store whether time etc.

My apps on my I pod touch will not open.  They start to load for one second close down.  I tried holding down the power button to reset it.  And that didn't work. Is the only option is to delete all apps and then reload them?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • My iPod Touch keeps closing every app I go on

Every app I go on keeps closing before it loads properly, even Safari, sometimes if i'm lucky it won't happen but othertimes I can't go on anything. I've seen a simular question where they were told to hold the sleep/wake button and the home button for ten seccons till the apple logo comes up but my iPod home button doesn't work anymore, I use the Assistive Touch for the home button but when I hold both nothing happens, I dont know if it's because it's not the actual home button.
Is there anything else I can do to get my iPod working again?
