Ipod touch device for Mac

Could the Ipod touch be used as a touchpad for input to the Mac. This would give the Mac the advantages of the new touch technology.

Short answer no, long answer kind of. Check out the [remote buddy|http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&objtype=infogroup&obj_id=24&o_infogroupobjcode=infogroup-23&sid=5443988G53d6087d04209b0f] software.

  • HT3965 I got what appears to be a reconditioned (pre-owned) iPod Touch 4 for Christmas.  How can I change the Apple ID on tis device so I can use it with my iTunes Acct and Wi-Fi network?  Thanks.

I received what appears to be a reconditioned iPod Touch 4th for Christmas.  How do I change the Apple ID on the device to my ID so I can use my iTunes account?  Thanks for any help/

It would probably be best to attach the iPod to a computer and restore it. This way you'll know it's wiped clean. Then, when you start up the iPod it will ask you for your Apple ID.

  • Transferring all content on Ipod 30Gig to new Ipod Touch bought for Christm

I bought a new Ipod Touch for Christmas as a gift and want to copy all the content from the persons old Ipod to a the new Ipod Touch. How do I go about doing it without erasing/losing the files on the old Ipod?

f the songs etc. you had on your previous iPod are still in iTunes they will load onto your new one. You just need to connect your new iPod and follow the on screen instructions to register and name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like.
If the content of the old iPod is not in iTunes then you'll need to copy it back there to load it onto the new device. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

We are evaluating the use of iPod touch devices to record best practice videos on our manufacturing floor and to post to an internal Moodle web site. How can you upload a video from the iPod touch to a site other than YouTube? The Moodle upload interface is expecting a file selection dialog box like windows or OSX. I do not want to have to go through an intermediary step of messing with a pc.
    Thanks!

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

  • Lost music..... replaced my ipod touch 2g for itouch 3g running iOS 5.1.1

I replaced my ipod touch 2g for a 3g and update it to iOS 5.1.1. I had no problem updating but I also discovered I lost some of my music from reseting my computer. Is there a way I can get my music back? also is there a way I can get my third-party music back?

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If the non-iTunes purchases are on the old iPod you can copy them to your computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
and then sync them to your new iPod.

  • Is it possible to sync an iPod Touch with a mac and a pc?

Is it possible to sync an iPod Touch with a mac and a pc?

You can only sync an iPod touch to one computer for music, videos, movies and apps. You could, however, sync to the Mac for media content and the Windows system for contacts.

    Do either:

    - Restore to factory settings via iTunes and start again

My daughters iPod touch asks for her pass code but when she types it in the cursor does not move or input any characters so,she cannot get into the iPod. This has suddenly happened for no apparent reason, what can we do? Can anyone help please?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If any of you are like me, I had one single AppleID under MobileMe.  Under my AppleID I had two additional Email addresses, one for my wife and one for her Mother.  Each used their individual email accounts on their login on the home Mac and on their individual Iphones.
In order for them to not lose their email acounts when mobileMe goes away and/or you move your appleID acount from MobileMe to iCloud, you simply need to beaware of the folowing.  Have each person with an email address under your AppleID MobileMe go to www.me.com; enter their email account and password in the corresponding fields.  However, don't press the login button. Instead press the sentence under the login fields that says something to the effect of "do you want to move/migrate to iCloud.  Follow the prompts from there.
In essence what Apple has done--albeit not communicated anywhere--is that they automatically created AppleIDs for each of those additonal email addresses you have/had under MobileMe.  Therefore, use that email and password after moving from MobileMe to iCloud and your good to go.

  • Install Adobe on Ipod touch devices

Is there a way to install Adobe on Ipod touch devices without going through Itunes. We use these devices in the factories and warehouse to do inventory and shipping transactions as well as access email for the users.  Currently, when the user recieves and email attachment of a PDF, that atachment does not render correctly on the device because Adobe is not installed.  We do not want to have the coportate Itunes account associated with the devices because the devices go into the field and only have intranet access, etc.  With some of our other vendors we have...internally signed apps (I have no idea what that means, but that is the term from our IT folks) which allows our IT to install the app on devices as needed or push applications to the devices as needed without going out and downloading it from somewhere.  Is this possible with the Adobe app for Ipod devices?

    Hi CJONES,
Thank you for posting on the forums. What are you referring here as Adobe? Is it Adobe Reader or Acrobat ?
Acrobat :- We do not have Acrobat for Ipad and Android.
Adobe Reader:- You need to download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/reader-mobile.html

  • Want to use an iPod photo configurated for Mac on a PC

I want to use my old iPod photo (configurated for Mac) on a PC (but do not need to keep my songs and photos). Is this possible? If so, what do I do?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 5th generation 60 GB

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. Macs can read Windows drives so you could restore and format the iPod on a PC, this would also mean any future software updates would have to be done on Windows. This will erase your drive so you need to have your songs and photos backed up. Alternatively there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows, this is one for instance gets good reviews and has the functionality to let you copy content from the iPod to the PC. Not sure if it does photos but have a look: XPlay 2
You can read another user's experience of using XPlay at this link: iPod on Mac and Windows

    Thanks for answer

If you go to Apple, they will not replace your battery, but exchange your iPod for a refurbished iPod of the same model with a new battery.  Therefore you will lose everything that is not backed up.  If you change it yourself or have a third party change it, you will most likely not lose anything (but still best to make a backup as lllaass suggested).
