Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

How to unlock my ipod touch 4 when forgotten passcode ?
You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it. If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

so ya I bought my daughter a new iPod touch for her birthday from the pawnshop. They said it's been put through the police data base and is not stolen(protocol ?). I took it home and put it away. Her bday is now next week and I got it out to put a cool wallpaper in it and charge it up. Turns out the previous owner has now turned the find my phone app on , so I can't do anything with it now? is it possible to factory reset it? I feel like I got screwed big time:( i hope someone has an idea foe me cause i am totally illiterate when it comes to technology.
Return it and get a refund. Without the prior owner's Apple ID and password that device is useless. Find My iPhone Activation Lock- Removing a device from a previous owner’s account. You were screwed by the ignorance of the pawn shop owner.

Forgotten passcode - can't restore iPhone
Hello.
My iPhone got disabled after I entered passcode wrong several times. It asks to connect the device to iTunes, so I did. I followed steps from the instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212?viewlocale=en_US ("if you've never synced your device with itunes" since I reinstalled Windows and lost the reserved copy of my iPhone in iTunes). After the first time I put iPhone into recovery mode, iTunes downloaded some updates and restored iPhone but I still had the problem with passcode. The device was still disabled and asked to connect it to iTunes. I put it into recovery mode again but I can't restore it because error 1611 occurred.
How can I restore my iPhone and solve the problem with passcode?
Thank you.Click here and follow the instructions.

iv forgotten the passcode on my ipad 4 useing ios 7 and when i try to restore using itunes on my pc a message appears saying that the find my ipad feature needs to be switched off first on the ipad, unfortunately i cant get into the ipad to do this, any help please.
Hello emilyg06,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
Take a look at this article about what to do if you have forgotten your Passcode:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Try this first:
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
If you have chosen to encrypt your backup, it will contain the passcode. Disable backup encryption before restoring from backup. Learn more about iOS backups in iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, select Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup of your device.
And this section if the above does not work.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
All the best,

Forgotten password. Can't restore because FIND MY PHONE is active.
I have an iPhone 5 (iOS 8.1) and I changed my handset passcode whilst drunk and now can't remember it.
I've tried to restore from iTunes (v.12.0.1.26) on my laptop but I get a message saying I need to turn off the "find my phone" option from the handset settings.
Catch22 situation, if I could get into the handset to turn off the "find my phone" option, then I wouldn't need to do the restore.
What can I do@?You can turn off Find My iPhone by going to www.icloud.com, logging in, and performing a remote wipe of the device (basically 99% the same as an iTunes restore), then reactivating the device.

HT1212 iPod Touch disabled due to passcode
I tried sync-ing the ipod to itunes. We had to download itunes first, since we've never used it. I am told that we just sync the ipod to the computer and it will automatically do a system restore. Itunes cannot get into the ipod because of the passcode. It was never sync'd before, so it doesn't know it. Now what do we do?
Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to a computer with iTunes. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -

how do you reset my ipod touch..daughter try passcode too many times now its disabled
Passcode Locked or Disabled
If nothing else will let you unlock the device - after so many unsuccessful attempts will be locked out - You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the Device.
Instructions can be found here.
