IPod touch disabled for 23 million minutes and won't connect to iTunes

So my iPod touch has been dead for a while now. I bought a new charger and when it finally turned on it told me "iPod is disabled try again in 23,000,000 minutes". I've tried recovery mod but when I try connecting my iPod to the computer nothing happens. No message pops up, nothing.

- Try Recovery mode and then restore a couple of more times.
- If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
- If still not successful an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch disabled for 4342386 minutes!

So last night I let my iPod Touch chrage overnight, when I woke up and turned it on, it said it was disabled for 4342386 minutes. When I try to sync it with my computer, it wont let because its says I need to enter the passcode first on the iPod...Is there anything I can do to dump it and restore it? I have tried restarting it 10 times but same result so any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gus

    Hey finnpoika19,
Try connecting the iPod to the computer you normally sync with. After disconnecting from the computer you normally sync with, you should be able to try again.

  • Ipod touch 2G is black screen and won't restore in Itunes (error 21)

I have aquired an Ipod touch 2g 16g that I was hoping to make a present to my daughter with.  The device is I guess what is called "Black Screen of Death".  I can't get any image to display on the Ipod when trying to charge (which it apparenlty accepts) the item or when trying to connect it to Itunes.  Itunes recongizes the item in recovery mode, and attempts to restore the item and consistantly gives the error 21 message.  I am using Windows 7 and have tried to restore the device on a laptop running Win XP with the exact same results.  The screen will turn white during the process, and the machine will from what I have read and believe go into DFU mode, but it stops with error 21.  I am a Noob and have googled and googled for a week now with no luck.  I have tried the reinstallation of Itunes, all the updates to both Itunes and the machine, no security software, the works.  I tried connecting it to older son's laptop running Win 7 which he uses for his Ipod 2g 32 gig without problems.  My device was recognized on his machine, and he said on his Itunes he briefly saw songs on the device he did not have on his machine/device in his library before it hung again in the recovery mode loop.  I have read different articles and tutorials on jailbreaking and tried loading just the 'oem" firmware from apple with Redsnow and thought i was successful.  The device went through the process of white screen, several boots/dings of on my PC, and then an image appeared on the Ipod of "loading Jailbreak data".  After a few moments/minutes it then began what I believe is displaying the "verbose" booting running the lines of text on the screen.  I then notice it to stop and give me an error of something to the affect of init failed, and then a "lan error, watchdog timeout, giving up, a long pause, then quick scrolls down the screen and reboot back to white screen.  Holding the power button or home/power button puts it right back to a black screen and in the Itunes recovery mode loop/error 21 again.  Can anyone please help me resolve this issue before I pull what's left of my hair out.  I would love to get this working for my daughter before her birthday.  Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Common, no one has any ideas?  Well, don't know if this will help, but here's some new data to process.  I noticed that when I was trying to load the firmware with Redsnow w/o installing any options to include Cydia I got errors displayed on the Ipod such as WMR NAND format invalid; NANDLegacyFTL failed.  Someone has got to know something.  I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts from anyone with any idea.  Thanks

  • My Ipod is disabled for the wrong password can't connect to itunes

My daughter has forgotten her password to get into her ipod touch, it is now disabled and says we must connect to Itunes. However I do not have the original laptop her ipod was synced to, and upon reregistering it does not connect to itunes and says I must enter a password for the ipod before it will connect. Not real sure what to do now? I called support but they want 29.99 to have a 1x support session. Does anyone know what I can do to unlock this ipod??? Please

Place the iPod in Recovery mode and connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. If you do not have a backup. you have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IPod Touch disabled for 4961238 minutes

I don't have 4961238 minutes to live, but my iPod says that's when I should try to use it again.
I haven't used it in a while, so I got it out to use it to find this message. And in that time, fortunately, my warranty expired. Is there anything I (or anybody) can do short of buying a new iPod to salvage this thing?
P.S. 29 dollars to get help from an Apple Expert is ridiculous.

You will probably need to try to restore it.
If you do this, it will restore the ipod to factory settings and erase everything.

  • My iphone 5 is in recovery mode and won't connect to itunes

I was trying to update my phone using itunes but now my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode and won't connect to itunes.

    Hello nancarter97,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone 5.  I would be concerned too if my iPhone was stuck in recovery mode and not recognized in iTunes so that you can restore it.
I recommend the following article for the issue you described and specifically this step:
    5. Use iTunes to restore your device.
If you don't see your device in iTunes, follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.

  • Ipod touch is "frozen" can't power off or connect to itunes

I was listening to music on my ipod touch when the song stopped and would not play again. Took my headphones out, put them back in, still nothing. Powered down to see if that would work. Put the ipod in my pocket after powering down and checked it a couple hours later and it was frozen. Now, if I push the power button the screen shows a cable connecting to the iTunes icon. When I push and hold the power down button I am unable to slide the power off button...the touch screen does not work. I connected to itunes but received a message stating it was unable to connect because my ipod was locked and I need to enter my password on my ipod....but it's locked! Ideas?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone stuck in restore and won't connect to itunes

Yesterday I started having problems with my iPhone 4s - there would be no sound when a text or call came through, the ringer buttons on the side of the phone didnt display the volume dashes when pressed, and for most of the day the signal just said 'searching' and would only occassionally connect to the wifi.
Tried to plug it into the mac last night (latest operating system, only a few months old) and the phone wasnt recognised on itunes nor would it back up.
Gave up, and having left it over night I tried plugging it in to iTunes this morning and after a couple of attempts of unplugging it and plugging it in the phone was finally recognised and I managed to do a back up. As the phone still hasn't been working properly I thought I would try a restore, however the phone is now stuck in 'recovery mode' the iphone screen just shows the connect to itunes picture, although its plugged in to the mac, nothing is happening. The phone is now stuck in no mans land and I can't get it to connect to iTunes, the couple of occassions it did connect it wouldnt restore and just came up with error code 1604.
I've tried different usb cables and different usb ports and have never had a problem connecting until yesterday, have also tried to restore the phone by pressing the home and power button but I cant get past the connect to itunes screen.
Am at a loose end as to what to do now... any help/advice appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks for this, but it hasnt worked...
the screen on the phone keeps changing on its own from the apple logo to the connect to itunes logo, and when i turn the phone off it just turns back on by itself straight away and shows the connect to itunes logo. itunes is still not detecting anything.
any other suggestions out there?? am slowly admitting defeat and can see a visit to the apple store coming on

  • IPod Touch 3G in DFU Mode and won't come out

    Hello,
My daughter's iPod Touch 3G appears to be in DFU mode, but won't come out. The screen is completely black, and when I attach it to the computer, it comes up with the message "iTunes had detected as an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." When I hit the restore button, I receive the error message "software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again."
I've seen this message posted several times in the forum, and I have tried all the troubleshooting tips offered by Apple Support and in the answers to some of the questions. I am a Systems Engineer, so I consider myself pretty technically savvy. These are the steps I have followed so far:
    1) Completey removed and reinstalled iTunes according to the instructions provided by Apple.
    2) Downloaded the firmware for both the 3G and IOS4 from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and attempted a manual install - when I do this, I receive the error message, "the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored because the firmware is incompatible"
    3) Downloaded RecBoot to attempt to exit recovery mode, but it does not appear to be detecting the iPod.
    4) Attempted to exit and re-enter DFU mode several times to no avail.
    5) Called Apple Express Lane and was willing to pay the 1 time phone support charge, however the agent told me that he could not help me, and that I needed to take the iPod into an Apple store (the iPod is 190 days out of warranty).
My last effort is to try the install from another PC. So, prior to taking the iPod into the store, I was wondering if anyone has had any success other than the steps I have tried above. I'm appreciative for any assistance anyone is able to provide.

Check the model number on the back, "A1318" = 3G, "A1288" = 2G. If it truly is a 32GB 3G Touch, then you're going to have a rough time going back to an iOS version earlier than the current release (4.3.1, available from iTunes). The iOS packs you get from the site you mention are not "signed" and you probably won't be able to install them ... I think 2G owners have better luck with those "unofficial" versions.
So, if you have a 3G, your best bet is to erase (or move) all earlier iOS versions and let iTunes download a fresh copy of 4.3.1 for the iPod -- no need to go to a 3rd party site. If you have a 2G, then the latest version you can install is 4.2.1, which is also available from iTunes. To increase your odds of this working out, you might temporarily disable any AV software and firewall(s).
