IPod Touch disabled, iTunes won't let me log on because iPod has a passcode.  Help?

My daughter's 8 GB Touch says it is disabled and  to connect to iTunes.  When I try to do this, iTunes gives me a message that it cannot connect to the iPod because it is locked with a passcode.  It seems to be stuck in purgatory.  Can anyone help me?
Tom

If you can't remember the passcode, the device must be restored from the computer it was last synced with.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

    Hello zahler4,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! This is a common alert message when your Apple ID has not yet been configured for use with the iTunes Store. To configure it, you should have the option to “Review” - at which time you can add a payment method to your account. For more information, check out this resource:
Using an existing Apple ID with the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support

  • ITunes won't let me log in.

I don't understand what is going wrong. I have followed every single suggestion.
I recently got my old desktop pc out and hooked it up and reloaded iTunes onto it. When I first opened it an old screen name was signed in that belonged to another family member. I signed out and now it won't let me sign in with my user name. All it does it continue trying to load. The store comes up fine, I can browse music fine, I just can't log in. My user name and password work on the website so I know this is not the issue. I also do not have any firewalls blocking it and my LAN settings are all correct as well.
Is there anyone else who it is just NOT loading for at all? I have tried on two different computers at this point and have been trying for two days. It simply will not allow me to sign in at all no matter what I do. I even tried to use the screen name that was signed in when I opened it the first time but it won't let me sign in with that one either, even though I once again verified the user name and password online.
I need to sign in so I can redeem a gift card and download some music but it simply will not do it. Like I said, everything else is working fine. I even removed the program and then reloaded it again and am still having this problem.
I have gone through every single possible issue that is listed on the site as well as all the other posts I could find where people were having issues signing in. I have followed every single suggestion. It doesn't give me an error message or anything like that, it just does the scrolling bar (lines going across the bar) on top and stays that way. It isn't freezing or anything either, it allows me to cancel by hitting the X in the tool bar next to the loading progress bar and then continues to let me browse around the store.
I even attempted to purchase something and then sign in when it asked me to and had the exact same results.
Am I the only person who has been having this problem lately?

I'm having the same problem myself. I go through my AIM account for itunes purchases and I keep getting a message saying that my screen name doesn't exist or my password is wrong. Which is impossible since I'm logged onto AIM right now.

  • ITunes won't let me sync my iPhone without entering that passcode, but I've forgotten my passcode. How can I get assess to my phone again?

Unfortunatly my friend was being stupid and stole my iPhone and put a passcode of it, but he made it a random code that he doesn't know himself. I tried to sync it with iTunes but since I never synced it with that computer it won't give me acess to anything, the computer I origanally sync it to was wipped and got restated from scratch. I never had the need to sync it to it again so I never did (Which I'm now really regreating.)
So is there a way I can get back into my phone again? (And if there is how do I do it? and will it erase everything on it?)
Thanks so much for your help

    LOST PASSCODE
You may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device.
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes prompts you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes", below.
Right-click the device in the left column and select Back up.
When the backup is complete, select Restore.
When finished, restore from your most recent backup.
    Otherwise read this
If that doesn’t work  you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it. Or read:

Problems connecting to the iTunes Music Store often
stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a
firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as
McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet
Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a
    download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: Overview of Music Store
    Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of
the problem. What you need to do is temporarily
disable any such service and see if that fixes the
problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet
filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to
set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect
    to the iTunes Music Store.
    Hope this helps.
so, you're saying to start isolating other things as you mentioned and see if itunes begins to work normally?

  • Whenever I try to log into my itunes it says I have a -50 error, but I'm not downloading anything. I don't know why it won't let me log in.

I don't know why my itunes won't let me log in. All the Apple website tells me is that it's an error when I'm downloading something, but I'm not downloading anything.

    Hey shelbylynn18,
Thanks for the question. (-50) is a timeout error that can occur when downloading content or when simply trying to access the iTunes Store. If you have automatic downloads enabled, you may be experiencing this error when iTunes is attempting to automatically download available content.
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
This can happen when the connection timeout occurs while downloading purchased content from the iTunes Store. Certain types of software may also affect the way a computer sends and receives information from the internet. Here are a few examples of these types of software:
    - Firewalls
    - Web Accelerators
    - Ad Filters
    - Virus Protection Software
    Resolution
If you have any of the software listed above, and you cannot access the iTunes Store or complete your download, you will need to configure these applications to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet.
Refer to the documentation that came with that software, and if necessary contact the software's manufacturer. You will need to configure the software to allow the following domains to send and receive data from the Internet.
    - itunes.apple.com
    - ax.itunes.apple.com
    - albert.apple.com
    - gs.apple.com
    - deimos3.apple.com
    - phobos.apple.com
If a web accelerator appears to be causing the issue, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or the software manufacturer. If your computer is on a network, you may also want to try using a different computer on the network, or discuss the issue with the network administrator.

  • Mac book pro won't let me log on

My mac book won't let me log on. It has the window for me to log in my password, but it will not let me type anything in. then the screen turns black. any advice?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • My Ipod touch 4th generation won't let me drag the songs from my Itunes to the Ipod itself or how do you sync checkmarked songs?

I'm confused, my ipod touch 4th generation won't let me drag my songs from my itunes library to the ipod? So i tried checkmarking the songs I want and I don't know how to sync those? Also, I try to sync apps to my ipod and it says my computer doesn't have the liscense for it?

Did you download the new iTunes update that was also released this afternoon? That might be the problem. The new iTunes update came out today as well as the new iOS 7 update and if you haven't downloaded the new iTunes update it may be a compatibility problem so if you didn't, first update to the new iTunes and try again.

Syncing music via iTunes is only one way: from iTunes to your iPod.  If you need to copy the music from your iPod back to your PC, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to do this.
