Ipod touch doesn't appear under devices.  message - file not found.

My ipod touch doesn't appear under devices when I plug it into the computer.  My mac tried to sync with the ipod touch and then gave me the message "ipod touch could not be synced.  File not found."  This just suddenly started.  What file? and what happened to it? help, please.

PROBLEM SOLVED - I did not know that in itunes under "devices" there is a "hide" and "show" if you mouse over the area to the right of the word "devices".  My ipod touch was somehow hidden.  I still do not know why I got the "file not found" message.

Meanwhile I can play all of this music out of itunes I just cant seem to load it to my ipod. why? all of the songs in the playlists seem to have an "!" next to them in the track list. That is until i play them then it goes away im not sure if these things are related but i think they may be. plaese help

+all of the songs in the playlists seem to have an "!" next to them in the track list. That is until i play them then it goes away im not sure if these things are related but i think they may be.+
Yes, I'm sure they are related. I have no idea how your PC/itunes got into that state. What's happening now, is itunes thinks it doesn't know where the file is on your PC's hard drive, but when you double-click it, it mysteriously finds it.
I suspect after itunes finds it again, it will load to your ipod.
Is this music on an external HD?

  • Install OCS Single-error message "File not found \onebox\onebox_stg.rsp"

I am trying to install OCS Single Box on a Win2000Server and I get this message before as soon as installation begins:
    "File not found \onebox\onebox_stg.rsp"
The software was downloaded yesterday from OTN. It's version 9.0.3.1.0. It's the second time I downloaded it and I got the same error previously. I moved the Disk1 dir to the root dir and that didn't help either.

I installed the single box on Linux and had to start setup.sh (so search for something like setup.bat) instead of starting runInstaller
I also had to define the environment variables TMP and TEMPDIR in order to get the setup starting.

one morning my computer wouldn't boot.  it was windows xp xp3.
turns out bios is dead and unfortunately destroyed c drive and so i cannot recover windows etc.  fortunately itunes library on another still working drive.
new computer has freshly installed wxp xp3, but i cannot get itunes to see ipod. seperate (non)issue, itunes see library fine.
    no other obvious windows problems.
ipod works fine, windows sees ipod but gives a triple-chime, device manager has yellow !.
ipod is seen by a livelinux on this pc, and it mounts to itunes perfectly fine on my other computers.
windows xp sp3 itunes 10.5.2.11.  not sure of ios on ipod, not yet 5 but otherwise quite recent.
done ts1538. carefully.  including links to other articles.
    no security software.

this turns out to have been a usb2.0 problem.  although i have (only) usb2.0 ports, windows doesn't advertise it.  i repeatly tried to update the motherboard (asus ku8) drivers with the latest usb drivers but it didn't help.  device manager showed only "open" controllers, not "enhanced".
what did help is using device manager to update the usb host controller;  this seems to have over ridden the manufacturer's motherboard drivers and causes the usb controllers to be seen as 2.0 "enhanced".
for now, this is no longer a problem for me, i was able to get the ipod recognized.

  • Error message: file not found

I have an extensive list of music that has not been synced for a while on my laptop. I have since upgraded iTunes. Now I cannot play any of the music stored on the laptop, though the list is still there. The error message says that the file is not found.
If I sync my iPod with the laptop, will that restore the info on the laptop or wipe out my iPod list?

    Thank you Tom...
Can you see the text beneath each Demo picture? I can't.... and I only know that it is there where you have to click to play because I built it... but otherwise..
Lastly, is it not possible to link the mp3 files to the pictures? rather than the text... would be cool if people can click on the pictures to play the demos
Are you familiar with playtagger? I followed the instructions from a previous post, and expecting the little play symbols to appear next to each mp3 text link, they appeared at the top of the page.... not very useful. How does one edit placement of the play trinagles?
    cheers

  • Help re error message - file not found!

I have recently transferred my library from my old PC to a new laptop.  This seemed to go ok and the files are showing up in my new library.  However I have just tried to add some files to my iPhone and I am now getting an error message when I try to upload them saying the files are not found. Help!

Moving a library from machine to another can require some preparation if it is to go smoothly.
If you still have access to a working library on the original computer I can help you do the transfer again. Alternatively, as long as the files are organized within a media folder in a way that is vaguley consistent with iTunes, i.e. folders for artists, with subfolders for albums, then my FindTracks script might be able to relink the files.

  • Ipod nano 4th generation won't sync required file not found!!!

I had my computer fixed and so I had redownload itunes again. All my my music got saved to a folder as a backup.Well when I downloaded it,I put all the songs on itunes and tried to sync my ipod to add new music. But,it kept saying it won't sync since required folder is not found.I've looked everywhere online to see what to do.I tried uninstalling everything and again multiple times. The same error kept popping up.I switched to Manually manage music to see if it fixed the problem but no.A different error "the song....could be copied error ..." I switched back to sync.Nothing worked!!I tried restoring but it took so long as if it couldn't work it out.Previously I had this same computer fixed and when I downloaded again itunes it worked perfectly fine until now.Can somebody please guide me what to do?I cannot afford a new one.

That can sometimes indicate a photo cache issue. If you remove the current ipod photo cache, does that get you past the error?
For instructions on where to find it, see the following document:

  • Zen Touch Doesn't Appear in Device Mana

Ok, so I can't get my player to connect NOMAD explorer says "Not Connected", but the device isn't even showing up in device manager.
I've installed all the lastest drivers, software, and tried using a different USB cable and different ports (all of which I know work), but to no avail. HELP PLEASE.

Did you expand the "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers?" It should be in that list after you expand (the player has to be plugged in when you do this). If it isn't there, your computer has no idea anything is connected, at that point try a different cable cause it's probably the problem. You could also try a different usb port to see if it will recognize the player(if you haven't tried that already).

  • My hard drive crashed and when I replaced it, I am unable to sync most of my music.  The message "file not found" appears.  I have all my music on my .  How can I upload these to iCloud or iTunes?

My hard drive crashed and I replaced it.  I also switched from ATT to Verizon for my iPhone.  Now when I sync with iTunes, only about a tenth of my songs are on the new iPhone.  one or two from each album.  I still have an iPad with all my songs on it.  I subscribed to music match, but when I try on the iPad it wants to match with iTunes and erase a\the music on the iPad.  I have no music on iCloud when I sign in.  Can anyone help me???

If the hard drive that crashed is the one that stored the itunes library, be sure to restore the library from Time Machine (mac) or whatever backup you use on windows.  That will get back your music.  I suspect that the replacement drive has an empty itunes library and thus, perhaps, the itunes match used that to sync to its servers.
Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.

    Thanks,

    Hi iabrad,
I'm sorry to hear that you're running into problems with the Acrobat.com website today. Let's start with this:
Log out, clear the browser cache, and try logging in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/combinepdf
Try a different web browser. For a list of supported browsers, see System requirements | Acrobat.com
If that doesn't do the trick, let us know (and please tell us what browser/OS you're using, and if the error occurs regardless of what files you try to combine--if you even get the far in the process!).
    Best,
    Sara
