Ipod touch doest seem to shuffle very well

ok well i use an ipod touch 2g with a alpine ida-x100 radio unit so that i can listen to my music in my truck. lately ive noticed that while listening to the songs my ipod will play certain songs more than others and some artists back to back. is there a way for me to make my ipod shuffle better? and if it helps i have about 450 songs, and ive made sure skip when shuffling is off.

Yes- I agree the only way I was able to get it to shuffle was with the app on with the screen turned on. However, the Apple Store, said they didn't think that was necessary. I cannot get my unit to shuffle at all any other way.
When you get your unit to shuffle, do you have to shake your unit really hard or wildly? I have to do that with mine.
I have tried a restore but when I restore, and it asks to restore with last backup and I click to do that aren't I just putting back on the same that was there before the restore? So if there is a problem with the original download of 3.1.1 software aren't I just putting it back like it was? Should I tell it to restore as a NEW iPOD?

  • My ipod touch 4th gen stops shuffling at song 12 repeat and shuffle bars are blue - what could be wrong

my ipod touch 4th gen stops shuffling at song 12, and the music stops all together, does not go to next song - I am playing my ipod on my Bose system  -  the repeat and shuffle bars remain blue - it only occurs on this particular playlist -Note:  I created this playlist on my ipad - the first ipad out - with icloud it is on my ipod as well -  I am totally baffled - and have checked settings, etc - do you think i need to connect to computer to sync?  Please help

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat. You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
    Any luck there?

  • Does the amount of gigabits for an ipod touch have to do with how well it runs?

does the amount of gigabits, for an ipod touch, have to do with how well it runs?

Only when you have very little storage available, like less than 1/2 GB or so.

  • Mine is ipod touch 1st generation..its very hard to find the accessories, where can i find it?

mine is ipod touch 1st generation..its very hard to find the accessories, where can i find it? and some application couldnt work, for example: nike+

What "accessories" are you looking for?
The Nike+ app now requires iOS 4, and since that version of iOS won't run on a 1st-generation iPod touch, you will not be able to run that app.

  • I upgraded to 4.3.3 and now my iPod touch music won't shuffle. When I press shuffle it keeps replaying the same song over and over.

I upgraded to 4.3.3 and now my iPod touch music won't shuffle. When I press shuffle it keeps replaying the same song over and over.

There are two arrows below the time a song is plays. One is circular (repeat) and the other has two arrows crossing each other (?). The one going circular needs to be pressed to turned it off.

  • IPod Touch 3rd Gen: Battery Draining very rapidly after iOS4 upgrade.

    Hello All,
    Sorry for the long post:
I was wondering if others are experiencing this issue as well? I have a 3rd gen ipod touch 64gb.
Prior to the iOS4 upgrade my battery life was very decent. I would easily go a couple(2) days before requiring a full charge on the device even with modest internet, game and music use. As a rule I keep my back light as low as I can stand to conserve battery unless I'm in direct sunlight and have no choice but to bump it up in order to see.
After the iOS4 upgrade my battery life has been drasticly reduced. Going even 24 hours without plugging the device in is totally out of the question and in many cases I find myself having to plug the device into my laptop or car pretty much any chance I get in order to have uninterupted use of the device while I'm out and about. Although I've never timed my actual use, my usage habbits have not changed as far as I'm concerned.
I went so far as to exchanging the device at my local bestbuy as I purchased the blacktie protection plan which grants me an exchange of the device for "any" reason; be it manufaturer defect, accidental breakage, or anything really short of losing it. The replacement was a brand new non refurb ipod which I synced and charged fully upon bringing it home. To my suprise, the battery life is just as bad as the ipod I just turned in. I have yet to downgrade to iOS3 but am considering it if only to see if I suddenly see a great improvement of the battery life.
If anyone is having the issue or has some suggestions other then downgrading please comment. If this is an "unknown" bug/issue/flaw in iOS4 I'm sure apple would like to know about it and I'm assuming they monitor these forums for reports of these issues.
    Thanks!

  • IPod Touch now seems to be real sensitive.

Hello, I've had my IPod Touch since March of last year, I got it for my birthday. About a week ago I was on the bus listening to music on it on my way home, and all of a sudden the music paused; I thought I accidently pulled my headphones out, but that wasn't the case. I tried using a new pair of headphones but I'm still having the problem come up. Whenever I grab my iPod with a normal grip (I.E. it won't slide out of my hand at all) it pauses whatever is playing and turns the sound off, even with the volume control up to 80% and headphones plugged in. I began to notice that if I touched the side of the iPod where the black front cover meets the metallic back cover, the sound cuts out OR whatever is playing pauses. If I touch the metallic back near the headphone jack, the sound seems to come out, and if I hold my iPod sideways (horizontal) to watch a video and my hand touches the port for the charger, the video pauses and sound tends to cut out. It also seems that if my headphones are even slightly nudged, the sound cuts out and whatever is playing pauses, and even putting it on sleep tends to do that at times, as well as slipping it into my pocket.
The only way I've found to bring the sound back is to push down on the black part of the front cover beneath the screen and right above the headphone jack. Do I need to have my iPod sent in? There's no Apple store or anything like that where I live that I can get it checked out at.
    Thanks.

Here's the thing, and I stated this already, there is no Apple store nearby, or within reasonable driving time (30 minutes to an hour). I'd have to drive from the coast to the middle of my state just to see an Apple store, and I'm not about to do that to get my iPod fixed.

  • Why is my iPod Touch 4th generation playlist shuffle repeat malfunctioning?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch that is malfunctioning whenever I shuffle play a playlist, album, or individual artist's songs. I always leave the playlist repeat option on when I listen to a playlist or artist and all the songs in the playlist will play fine, but when the playlist ends and is supposed to start over from the beginning it does not play the first song that began the shuffle. It plays a different song that is in the playlist in the first slot and then continues in the same order as the first time through the playlist. For example I have 5 songs by the Eli Young Band on my ipod & when I play these 5 songs on shuffle with the loop option on their order through the first play through is Say Goodnight, When It Rains, Crazy Girl, Always the Love Songs, and Even if it Breaks Your Heart. Then after the fifth song the playlist begins again but instead of playing Say Goodnight in the one spot it played Even if it Breaks Your Heart followed by When It Rains, Crazy Girl, Always the Love Songs, and finishes with Even If It Breaks You Heart. So in the second play through of the playlist Say Goodnight was skipped & Even if it Breaks Your Heart was played twice & I can't figure our why. This happens with every artist and playlist I have no matter how many songs are in the playlist, and a different song is placed in the one spot and then repeated later every time the playlist repeats. The ipod has done this since I got it in December 2012, and I have already tried turning the ipod off and back on and restoring it to factory settings to try and solve this problem with no luck. I have also installed the iOS 6.1 software and the problem still persists. Any solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Try hitting the button again so it shows the replay sign and a little #1 in the top right corner of the icon.

  • My ipod touch's wifi range is very short and it's wifi is slow.

I own a iPod touch 3rd generation, and its version 4.3.5. It cannot detect the wifi unless the router is right next to it and the wifi disconnects as I walk a few feet away from the router. The download and uploading speed is slow as well... Any suggestions?

Does it work that way at other networks?
If yes yu can try the standard fixes in order
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If only slow on your network then I suspect  a problerm with your network/router.
If slow everywhere then I suspect a hardware problem with the iPod and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch  3rd Generation screen is very odd after updating

I just updated my hardware on my iPod touch 3rd Gen. and the screen is HUGE! It's like it doubled in size. Is there any way to fix this problem? I have tried to restore the iPod but it did the same thing when I restarted it. Thanks for your help!!

If you can't reach settings, do this:
Zoom in or out: Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPod touch automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.

  • THE IPOD TOUCH SCREEN SEEMS TO BE LOOSE

I HAVE AN IPOD TOUCH 8GB (THIRD GEN.).WHEN I PRESS THE SCREEN THE GLASS MOVES DOWN ( ONLY SLIGHTLY THOUGH ) , IS THIS AN MANUFACTURING PROBLEM OR IT`S OKAY ? REPLY PLZ
Message was edited by: apple rocks

If the glass is moving in any way then it is NOT normal. When you did you buy your iPod touch? If you bought this within the past 12 months then please take it to the nearest Apple Store and have them evaluate/repair the defect.

  • Shuffle feature doesn't shuffle very well.

    Hello all,
Is it just me or does my ipod play some bands (or albums) more than others when in shuffle mode? It seems that I constantly hear the same songs when I start a new shuffle. I'll get songs from the same twenty or so albums and none (or very few) from any others. Is there a way to set ipod to a more all-emcompassing shuffle? Thankfully, this has been my only complaint with the ipod so far. Otherwise, it rocks like all ****.

Apple is very secretive about their shuffle algorithm, so the best that we can do is guess at how it really functions.
One of the theories is that the shuffle mechanism will examine your playcount and star ratings. For examply, higher rated songs/albums may tend to play more often than lower rated tracks.
If you feel that some songs/abums/artists are being played heavily during a shuffled mix... you might want to see how they are rated. It could be influencing their playback frequency.
Then again... no one really knows for sure

  • My iPod Touch 4 responds and runs VERY slowly, it is probably not even a year old, is restoring it the only option?

My iPod runs VERY slowly, I preordered it when the first white iPods came out. Even typing here it can't keep up, I know if you have less than 6 GB left on your memory it supposedly runs slowly so I deleted stuff and have 13 GB left, I also always close my apps every few hours and my apps always shut down unexpectedly or even before the app can get to the main screen. I do not want to but a new one at all and my dad suggests restoring it and putting it to its original settings but I'm afraid I'll lose my smurfs village and tiny tower. So is restoring your iPod the only way to improve the speed or are there other things?

Try backing up the iPod and then restoring friom backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iTunes backup make sure that all you synced media like apps and music are in your iTunes library since synced media is not in the backup. You iPod will be like it was, included app data like saved games, when the backup was made.

  • Shuffle mode doesn't shuffle very well

When I put on a playlist or even an entire genre in 'shuffle songs' mode I experience an irritating phenomenon. It will often go something like this:
In my "Rock" playlist of around 700 songs I'll get
    Tom Petty
    Mary Prankster
    Triumph
    Tom Petty
    Van Halen
    Tom Petty
    The Doors
    Van Halen
    Nugent
    GnR
    Van Halen and so on...
It's consistent across my entire library. It seems like iTunes is shuffling within segments of the list of songs selected to play. I have all of my songs ripped in Apple Lossless. The files are huge. Could this be part of the problem?
As I'm writing this I'm listening the third Eagles song in 30 minutes. The playlist is almost three days long with over a hundred artists. Why isn't there a shuffle by 'artist' mode?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    ...

Apple has not revealed the details of its shuffle algorithm. It is known that if you start shuffling a list, and don't fiddle with anything, it will play each song once without repeating any. But there are no options to control how the next song is chosen.
But your "irritation," as you describe it, may have another source. If you shuffle a list of tired songs that you don't really feel like hearing, each song that Shuffle picks will be a tired song that you don't really feel like hearing. Maybe it is time for some new music.
