IPod Touch email - I can't send any email"

Hi All,
Just bought my iPod Touch, I love it so far, however I can't seem to get my email to send!
I'm using my TalkTalk email address, I can recieve emails with no problem at all - however when I try and send an email I'll get the error "Specific Email is not valid" or something along those lines, I know the email address is correct as it's my own address!
My Pop settings are Smtp.talktalk.net, I've read that I have to use the o2 smtp server, smtp.o2.co.uk. However, I don't have a username and password for this server? Could this be one of the problems?

Simon, it seems to me that mail on the touch is a bit fussy at times and, especially if you have a network that demands a specific sendmail username and password, this has to be set up a bit carefully. For a number of reasons, I have several accounts: three PPP mail, GMail and .Me.
I set up one only of the PPP accounts with the settings that, as it uses PPP (POP) requires that I send mail using that weird server setup. When I am out and about, I find that one of the other PPP accounts might work as long as I have checked mail first.
The other two -- GMail and .ME are fine these days in most locations, so these are my preferred accounts when sending mail. The .me one did have some problems, but the recent updates to the touch have improved things no end here.
I also work at an office where the proxy settings and blocked ports mean that much of the time, I have no success whatsoever. Settings and locations may well need some experimentation, I am afraid.

    The sending of email is accomplished via the SMTP server. Take a moment to get back into Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars and select the account. Go to the SMTP server and check to make sure that username and password are entered in all of the appropriate places. If you cannot get it to work after trying to just change those settings, remove the account from the phone and recreate it. When recreating, make sure you enter the username and password in every location, even if the phone says optional. Make sure you have the settings from either the email provider or from the other device. Make sure that SSL is on or off as necessary.

    My email isn't working on iOS 7, it is saying that my password is wrong when it is correct, I retype it in settings and try again it still says it is wrong, although I can revive emails but when I do I get three of the same thing and I can't send any emails, this all started when I downloaded iOS 7.

    Actually i also had changed my gmail password like to the above. Andyour recommendation seems to be the same to rebooting iPod touch, which didn't work for me when i had the same gmail problem with the incorrect password error in the continuous manner. However the problem has gone when i removed the gmail account so as to create the same one.

    I have the same problem, but I can send and receive e-mails from my home base.  When out of the range of my home I get this message: "
    A copy has been placed in your outbox.  The sender address: "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."

    Are you using the Mail application that came with your Mac (or maybe MobileMe or some other web based email service)? If it is just Mail, who is your ISP - it would be their servers you're dealing with.

    for couple of weeks ago i had a problem with Mail program and then it started to miss up entire system which even my apple id didn't work so i delete my entire keychain and then i add all again it start to work but now i have a problem with mail program which goes offline and i quit the program and leave it for couple of minutes and then i run it again it worked for 2 second and then goes offline again this is problem number one in other hand i can't send any email from program my emails go to the Outbox and after couple of minuts asking me to resend it which i usually don't do it and send it directly from website any suggestion i can fix this ? i called apple support afew weeks ago the guy didn't respond correctly and told me he has to call the engineer or something like that and after that because it took a lot of time one of my friend fix the problem for me but now i still have problem with this
    any suggestion ? or i should give up using this softwear ?

    More information is required for a meaningful reply. Do you have an email account? Are you settings correct? Can you receive emails on the iPad? Have you another device on which you send /receive emails? Is it working OK?

    Can receive messages but can't send any. What setting am I missing?

    I had this same problem with my zoho mail account.  It started when I changed my email password on the computer....Long story short I have been going crazy for a few days. I could receive mail, but couldn't send anything from that account! (Fortunately I have two other accounts which are a different server - gmail.) I turned my iPad2 off then on again...I did a sync with iTunes...I deleted the account and then added it back...Still it would not send..Just receive!
    I did finally get it fixed, but it took about an hour poking around and looking for help here.
    There were several problems:
    1. Somehow the server port numbers were incorrect. So when I added the account back in, I found that the "incoming server port" was not correct and fixed it. But I didn't see how to check the "outgoing server port." - somehow in the setting up process, that just wasn't exposed.
    2. Eventually I found the "outgoing server port" here:  - Go to Settings - General - Mail - Account. Then tap on the Account you need to fix. Check the information there to be sure it is correct.
    THEN: tap on the white bar just below the word "Outgoing mail Server"
    That takes you to "SMTP"
    You will see a primary server, and "other SMTP servers"
    Somehow I had 3 there that were the same account server name (zoho) ..all with the wrong port number!
    But even after fixing each one, I still couldn't send mail. This led to problem number 3:
    3. Apparently having 3 of the same account was a problem. After I deleted all three of the accounts, then tapped on "Add Server" and entered the information back in again. Bingo, I could send mail!!
    I don't know why, but now my "Primary Server" says "Not configured - off"
    And all the "Other" servers say "off" as well.
    But it's working so I am going to leave it as it is.

    I can't send an email because I sent another email five months ago and it had six pictures and I sent other emails over time and now the first email is still loading today to send ever since I figuered out that I will never be able to send it I click on the X in the "mail activity" and all it does is so how many kilobytes I have loaded which usually stays between 46 and 11 but it will never finally cancel.

    Try as I might, I can't see what this has to do with an iPod nano connecting to Windows!!
    Perhaps the Leopard Mail forum would be more appropriate?

    Your MacBook Pro doesn't have HDMI output... it's DVI. For sound, you will need to use the headphone out/optical digital audio out port to the TV/stereo. As far as video goes, I'm confused as to what cable you're using but at one point you're converting DVI to HDMI.

  • Can't send any email with touchpad client.

    In the last week or so I am no longer able to send any emails with the Touchpad email client. This had worked fine on my home WiFi up till then. I have a hotmail an a gmail account and neither work. I have seen a couple limited posts on this but am surprised there aren't more issues with this. I had restarted several times, deleted and re-added accounts and no fix.
    Any help appreciated....

    OK, I Doctored my Touchpad and the email sending via hotmail and gmail are now working.  I haven't doctored in about 6 months which isn't too bad but it would be nice to not have to do this.

    Hello David.
    You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
