IPod touch erased every thing by it self?
my ipod erased everything and when i plug it in to itunes it says "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. you need to restore it". and i do that it comes up with " The iPod ~iPod~ could bot be restored. An unknown error occurred [29].".
So what can i do to fix this?
you probably set it to DUF mode also known as "recovery mode" which will make the ipod appear unknown at times to your computer. So I would just look up a video on youtube on how to put an ipod out of DUF mode... You basicly just turn off the ipod and hold the power button for like 5 seconds, then let go. then after you let go you press it again but hold it for like 20 seconds this time. After the 20 seconds are up, click and hold on the home screen button for another 20 seconds. At this point you should be holding on to the home and power keys at the same time. So after these 20 seconds go by, relese the power button but still hold on to the home key. Eventually it should restart. [By eventually i mean un less than a minute]

I have tried to update OS from 4.3.5 to latest on Ipod touch but every time after 70% completing an error is prompted and say update cannot be completed. Please check the setting. Please guide in this respect to be updated.Disable the computer's firewall and antivirus during the download and update.

Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it). -

Why can't I add TV shows to ipod without wiping every thing else out?
I'm a newby so forgive me. But I've already lost all the apps I purchased for my ipod because I wanted to update my music library (transferring from macbook pro itunes to my ipod touch). It said to do so would wipe out all my apps. I said yes thinking I could go back and add the apps later—because I still "see" them in itunes. But when I tried to select and transfer the apps they're all grayed out! I can't find a way to select and reinstall them. Same with tv shows purchased on itunes: I want to put them on my ipod but it says to do so will wipe out my entire music library. At least it gives me an option to select those unlike the apps. How frustrating! It seems I can't add one thing without entirely wiping out another.
Yes. Same computer. Yes. The computer is authorized. I am able to move my music to the iPod so assume it's signed in to the account. The iPod actually came with the Computer. It has never been synced to other computer. Am I just doing something wrong? Why can't it update my music library without copying over my apps? Why can't it add the tv shows i bought without erasing all my music in the process. And finally, I see ghosts of the apps I used to have installed on my iPod in iTunes but iTunes won't let me selected them to move them back to the iPod.

Accidentally erased iPod from Find My iPod Touch and is now stuck on a progressing apple logo, but does not load or progress! Tried DFU and Recovery mode, it didn't work.
If the iPod remains on when diconnected and you can't turn it off then let the battery fully drain they try everything again
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

When I plug my ipod into my computer, it erases all the songs already on it.
This has happened to me too. I had 700+ songs on my ipod touch and once I put around 15 more all of the 700+ songs were gone but the 15 were on my ipod touch.

Might have a good one for you guys...I work at a local electronics store and a customer came in with an Ipod touch that they claimed to have a "virus". I am aware that Apple products are not prone to viruses (I've never witnessed one before) however I went along with it to hear what the issue was. When using the Ipod Touch, after turning the screen off for a little while, the ipod restarted but there was absolutly no content on the device. Music was wiped, pictures were wiped, and apps icons will still present, but when selected they did nothing. I recommended doing the recovery option by connecting the Ipod to the origional computer it was first synced with, but they tried that and the computer does not register the device. The customer said they contacted the retailor because they purchased an exteneded warranty through them, but it doesn't cover software issues apparently. They contacted Apple support and Apple said their 1yr warranty does not cover software issues, but for $200 they can push an antivirus to the device (I was present during the phone call, which was on speaker phone). The customer is fairly upset about the situation, and rightfully so. I just took it on as a side project just to help them out as they have done a lot of local business with us and I'd like to help them out if I can.
This is where you guys come in. Not knowing exactly what was done to the Ipod doesn't give me a starting point for any tips or tricks that may exist, but I'd like to just run it over with you guys to be sure I'm not going on a while goose chase. Any help or recommendations would be welcome!

That does not make sense. The warranty covers defects in hardware and software.
I suugest making an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Help¡ ipod touch say every time "cannot find server"
I am new on this so please talk slowly if you can. I get my ipod touch by christmas and when i try to connect to internet say that he could not find server. i dont know what type of router it is. It is a trendnet. Does it mean something? please help me. i have windows xp and all ideas in this site are for mac so this make it difficult. HELP¡¡¡¡
i haved resolved the problem. For the ones who have the same problem think this. you can have a company who provide the internet of your house. this providers haves a password to enter the internet. in my case, i am from colombia and this provider is etb (the company of internet). i have his password and do not enter. this morning i found a card were my grandmother write the password of the router, and it was completely different of the one of etb. so look if your router has another password and if it haves, i will connect and get automatically to internet

Is it bad to turn your iPod touch off every night? If I don't, the screen will be blank/distorted.
I just got my new iPod touch from Fry's electronic, and just last night, I put it on sleep thoughout the whole night. I wake up, press the home button, and it lights up a gradiant grey-white. It happened the other day when I was playing with Draw Something. I then tried turning it off, and it took forever. But now its working. So I was wording if it's bad/not the best to turn your iPod touch off everynight, and if you do it?
I just let my iPod sleep overnight. I turn on airplane mode to minimnize battery drain.

IPod touch showing unusual things while restore.
I was restoring my iPod touch to ios 6. Suddenly the power went off and my ipod was in update mode. Now it is not showing up in itunes or in Computer. Please tell me what to do. My home button doesn't work and I have tried to use RecBoot which doesn't work either. Please Help. Will leaving the ipod as it is and draining the battery solve the problem. The screen is shown in the image.
Try a hard reset. Hold down sleep/wake and home button for 10 seconds until apple logo appears.
If that dosen't work make it go to recovery mode. To make it go to recovery mode hold down the home and sleep button for 20-25 seconds. When the Apple logo appears let go of sleep button. It should ask you to connect to iTunes.
If these don't work, try another usb port or another USB cable.
If that dosen't work either try other programs or another computer.
