When I turned on my iPod Touch, I got the frozen Apple logo. I tried connecting to my computer by USB but iTunes would not recognize my iTouch. Holding down the Sleep+Home buttons only restarted back to the frozen Apple logo screen again. Finally, I found putting the iTouch in "Restore mode" http://kaspers.freeflux.net/blog/archive/2007/10/15/how-to-force-your-ipod-touch -into-restore-mode.html
where you hold down both Sleep+Home, then let go of Sleep while still holding down Home. After a couple of tries, iTunes is now attempting to restore my iTouch.

I was updateing the software on my ipod through the wireless straight to the ipod and had to stop so held down both the power and the home buttons. Now the screen is frozen with the apple logo and the normal 'unfreeze' technique won't work. The computer does not recognise the ipod so will not charge or restore it. Is there anything that I can do myself?

Unplug it and let unit go dead. Then hold your Home button down and plug the USB power cord back in. iTunes should see it and then restore.

  • IPod Touch stuck with the Apple Logo

Ok, So i just got a new iPod Touch 16G. As soon as I connected it to iTunes, it started syncing then it just froze up and said data could not be synced because the iPod is not connected. I ejected the iPod & restarted it, but it just shows the Apple logo. It wont do anything else. I updated the software, charged it, and tried connecting it again but it shows the same message after syncing about 100 songs.
I've never even used it. Any idea what may be wrong with it?
EDIT: It finished syncing all of my music. But after it disconects, it doesn't do anything. Just the Apple Logo.

What happens when you try to connect it to your iTunes library in Recovery Mode?  See this article for steps on how to put your iPod Touch into recovery mode.  Don't be afraid to try this more than once.

  • My iPod Touch is frozen on the apple logo.

I received my iPod Touch as a gift for valentines day over a year ago. Over 3 months ago, I tried to reset my iPod and as usual, the apple logo appeared, but this time it didn't go away.
I went through the resetting process multiple times (holding the sleep and home button at the same time) but the screen would go black, then show the logo again. I let the battery run out and after I plugged it in to charge, the same thing happened. Basically, my iPod has been resetting itself for over 3 months. During this time, I did not have access to my computer. That was being restored. When I did get my PC back, i figured i could plug up my iPod and have it restored. BUT my comp didn't recognize my iPod as a device. I re-downloaded iTunes, plugged my iPod back up and iTunes didn't even recognize it.
I'm also having a problem with iTunes itself. Most of my songs are missing. The names are visible, but once I try to play them, the dialogue box appears saying, "this song can not be played because the original file could not be found" and it show a exclamation point to the left of each missing song. I WOULD transfer the songs from my iPod to iTunes, but once again, my iPod is "broken". I have recently read different articles on the Apple website, but once i spotted my issue, it told me that it had to be sent in to be repaired. I also called AppleCare but i was put on hold for too long and I just gave up. I Googled my issue, and found that many other people also have this problem. Answers were posted, and I tried them all but to no avail.

Question: If i buy another iPod Touch, will I still be able to restore my lost music on my iTunes account?

i tried reseting my ipod today and had a similar problem... it wont be recognized by itunes, the only thing i havent tried is putting it into DFU mode, or the state that it is in when u recieve it telling u to connect it to itunes.i recommend putting it into DFU mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34v8HMC9B98 this should better explain it. if i find another way, ill keep u updated

    - I suspect that he went to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.  For 1G or 2G iPod that can take hours and it will likely stall out if not connected to a charging source.
    Try the following:
    - A reset.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The connect to computer and try to restore via iTunes.
    - Id something is still showing onthe screen, disconnect from computer/charging source and let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour, Try the reset and restore.
    - If you can turn the iPod off, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovey mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

Can anyone help me with this issue???

Connect your iTouch to your PC then open iTunes, if iTunes does not recognize your device, try to hold the SLEEP Button and the HOME button at the same time (iPod Reset) for a couple of seconds until the "Charging Tone sounds, now you should be seeing your device name in the iTunes " Device List". If you do, just click RESTORE and iTunes will automatically restore your iTouch to original set-up and download the iOS6 update.
    Hope this helps..
