IPod Touch got wet, died. I need my notes...

My iPod Touch got wet and it's gone. I can get to the screen (albeit dim) that shows the slider to unlock it but the touchscreen is unresponsive. The computer won't recognize it.
My main problem is I have some very important notes that I need.
Does anyone know how to get the notes from the backup file "data.syncdb"?

This might help:

My IPOD touch got wet (it was not submerged in water, just rained on) and now only shows a white screen.  How can I fix this?  I already dried it in rice, and reinstalled it on ITUNES.

unless you have apple care which even that probably doesnt cover water damage. youre gonna need to buy a new screen. probably set you back $60 something. look up ipod touch 4g lcd screen in google and look for sites like amazon or something. unless you wanna have apple charge you like 100 bucks for it or probably more

To restore app data, the apps have to be in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore. The iPod ackup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod touch was out in the rain and now it won't turn on. Can it be repaired?

yeah it should be able to get fixed one is an costly way
and one free which you can do on your on which will on cost you a few pounds
ok first the colstly way ipod/ifone repair web sites will fix wet ipod/ifones but they can charge anything from £39.99 to £79.99 to fix some with have an free post and pack service with royal mail and some will have u pay for this this will cost u £19.95
ok the free way you will need two soft dry cloths and some where warm first lay one of the cloths down put the ipod/ifone face up lcd faceing up, now but the 2nd cloth over the top of it and leave it alone for 3-5 days after this try powering up ipod via its power button if it powers up and and buttons work it should be able to charge up

  • IPod touch got wet, can not restore with iTunes

I have a first generation 16 GB iPod touch that wicked up water over night from a glass surface. I didn't notice the water until morning when I picked up the iPod. I tried to turn it on but it was dead.
I dried it out using a desk lamp until moisture was no longer visible under the screen. I connected the computer and the dead battery/charging icon appeared.
Once the iPod received a few minutes of charge the display changed to 'Connect to I-tunes". I open iTunes and it displays that "an iPod in recovery mode has been detected" and to restore the device. I press restore and iTunes downloads and extracts the software, but either of the following errors occur...
    1. I-tunes tries to communicate and say's 'waiting for iPod', at which time the iPod has the apple logo and the spinning circle. This continues until the iPod is disconnected, and then iTunes says "the iPod could not be restored, an unknown error has occurred (9)".
    2. When iPod is in DFU mode and I open iTunes, It recognizes an iPod in recovery mode and sends commands to the iPod for recovery, iTunes then waits for the iPod and it's display stays black. When the iPod is disconnected iTunes says "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error has occurred (1601). When disconnected and reconnected the computed makes the usb device connected but iTunes doesn't see the device until iTunes is restarted.
    3. I 'shift' click the restore after iTunes recognizes an iPod in recovery mode. I point iTunes to "iPod1,11.1.1_3A110arestore.jpsw" (which is the version it came with) and it almost immediately gives me an error, "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)".
Since I am getting prompts on the iPod, I am hopeful to start a restore somehow... Is this asking too much ? Is there another way to start a restore ? Or is this something that can be fixed by sending it in for repair ?
    Thanks Kindly

If it was just plain water it may eventually work again. But..... you broke several rules for trying to save wet equipment: you should never use heat in an attempt to dry and you should never try to charge it or connect it to your computer.
Slow drying out may be accomplished but putting your touch in a jar with silica gel packs (if you can find them) or plain white rice (NOT 'minute rice'). Then wait!!! several days.
Or is this something that can be fixed by sending it in for repair ?
Your touch has built-in moisture indicators (one is the white patch at the end of the headphone jack). If your touch shows signs of moisture, you will not be covered by the Apple warranty.
Have a little patience and with luck it will work again.

  • My ipod touch got wet 5 days ago and it will not turn on.

My computer does not recognise that my ipod touch is connected.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • My iPod touch got wet and I used the rice method to save it.

After 3 days, I plugged it back in and it worked. But the problem is that the home and lock buttons don't work anymore. What can I do? It charges just fine but iTunes cannot detect it seems... So I can't backup my songs and all, which ***** considering the fact that I have over 1k of memories in there.
Does anybody have a suggestion? I don't mind paying for repairs at Apple, but I definitely want to get my songs.
The touch-screen works just fine although it has white stripes on it now.

    - It doesn't, no. It feels like something is preventing full movement.
    - No I didn't, but what do you mean by cycling the switches?
    - I think it is, but there were sort of pale stripes in the back of the screen. Would that be water by any chance?
    - Dammit what a shame, is it not possible to extract the iPod's HDD or memory stick (whatever it contains) and recover the songs?

  • HT1438 ipod touch got wet and won't work

My daughter dropped her ipod in the toilet...nice...now it won't work properly even after we dried it off and put the ipod in rice overnight.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Overnight probably don't do any good. Let it dry in rice for three or four days at least. Then try the iPod again. If it will fails, it's almost certainly damaged and you'll have to take or send it to Apple and pay their out-of-warranty replacement charge.
    Regards.

  • Ipod touch got wet and froze on the battery symbol. I forced a shut down and wasnt responsive.  tried turning it on and it wouldnt. Later on white screen appeared followed by the apple logo

i spilled a pop on my ipod and it froze up. the screen was loced on the battery symbol sign and i forced a shut down.  It tunred off and wont turn on.  Later a white screen popped up and after the apple logo popped up and dissapeared. I have tried to connect it to my computer and it said that the iphone(itunes read it as such) was in recovery mode. How do I get this thing to work again?

Leave the iPod off and place it in a container with dry rice to absorb moisture. Let it thoroughly dry.
Realistically, the chances of it working correctly again are slim, especially if the pop was sugared.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
