Ipod touch home button stuck and the power will not turn on

Can someone help me?  My daughter's ipod touch 4th generation has a stuck home button.  We have changed the settings so that the alternate home button is on the screen; however, while she was using it earlier, the ipod shut off and will not turn back on.  We have tried to plug it in, hold the power button, etc.  Since the home button doesn't work, we can't hold the power and home buttons simultaneously as recommended.  Any other ideas?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode, place the iPod in recovery mode using:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or

If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1320 I have a new IPod Touch 5G, 32 gb and suddenly it will not turn on, and will not restore using UTunes.  Any help appreciated.

I have tried many times to restore my  new IPod Touch 5G in I Tunes and it will not allow me to do it.  My Ipod will not turn on at all even when on a fresh charge.  Only displays the arrow leading up to ITunes logo.  I have tried the method of holding the home button and on button and this does not work.  Any help appreciated.
My I Pod was working fine until the day I updated the software to 6.0.1.

    Hi Clinton,
This happens to all the time and this is what I normally do. (Press and hold the pwer button until the computer shuts down) but, this doesn't seem to answer the real issue. Its just like you cut of the power to shut it down.

    Hi jesusdeloera,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If your iPhone was being backed up to the iCloud or iTunes, you will be able to restore from that backup and recover the data that was on the device at the time of backup once you have your iPhone repaired. Please review the attached information about iCloud and iTunes backups.

You'll have pay the Out-Of-Warranty-Service fee, to get it replaced, the water damaged the phone too much.

  • My 5th Gen iPod touch does not keep time and the bluetooth will not turn on. Full restore did not fix.

Recently my 5th generation iPod Touch stopped keeping time. As long as the screen stays on, it will stay accurate, but once it "sleeps" the time reverts to the last accurate time it had. If I go to Settings>General>Date&Time> and turn Set Automatically off and on, it will catch up, but just for as long as the screen stays on. Not too friendly for battery life that way. Also, maybe unrelated, the Bluetooth function will not turn on. When I try to turn it on, I just get a constant spinning wheel.
I have tried everything from a simple restart to a full device wipe back to factory default. No change. I took it in to the Genius bar this afternoon. They tried a diagnostic and another wipe. Then they said they didn't know and I could pay $150 to replace it. Not a bad deal, but not what I wanted to hear.
    Any ideas?

    All I can suggest is
Try DFU mode and then restore again to factory settings/new iPod

My mail screen will not convert to the original mail listings. this happened when I clicked on an attachment sent with an e-mail. How can I get the mail screen unstuck?

    Hi donna Ifromwa,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPad is unresponsive after clicking on an attachment and you cannot return to your email inbox, I recommend forcing the attachment and Mail app to close using this method:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
These steps come from this article:
iOS: Force an app to close

If you still cannot access your email, restart your iPad next:
