  • IPod touch home button jammed?!

Hello, this morning I came to my ipod touch, only to find that the home button was jammed!! By jammed, i mean it is stuck a little too far into the home button socket, and takes an enormous amount of pressure for the iPod to register that it has been pushed. I am currently out of warranty, so should I try to find a "do-it-yourself-guide?" or should I take it in to Apple Store or Best Buy? Thanks so much and ill be looking foward to what you have to say!

I am having problems with getting my ipod touch home button to work properly. Is this a new issue or is it simply because I have used it so much? I don't remember it happening after a software update.

  • Ipod touch home button stuck and the power will not turn on

Can someone help me?  My daughter's ipod touch 4th generation has a stuck home button.  We have changed the settings so that the alternate home button is on the screen; however, while she was using it earlier, the ipod shut off and will not turn back on.  We have tried to plug it in, hold the power button, etc.  Since the home button doesn't work, we can't hold the power and home buttons simultaneously as recommended.  Any other ideas?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode, place the iPod in recovery mode using:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I doubt it is worth the cost of getting an old 1G iPod fixed. Since there are very few apps that can be purchased now for the 1G

  • Ipod Touch home button is not responding! iOS 4.3.3....

I got my Ipod touch 4g used with an iOS of 4.3.3  on December 25th, 2011. It was February 7th, 2013 when the home button stopped working. Everytime I try to press the home button...it won't budge!
I have already restored it, got my data back on and deleted the other person's stuff, but I still can't update my iOSo the newest version so I will have the assistive hime button. Also, Ive already tried alchol but that won't work either. I don't have the money to go to apple or afford a new one. What should i do to fix this quickly without screwing my Ipod Touch up? I would really appreciate your help!
    Thanks.

  • IPod Touch Home Button Issue

Yes, I have an iPod Touch which I just upgraded to the latest 2.2.1 software a few weeks ago. Now my "Home Button" will not take me back to the main screen anymore. I have to completely turn it off and restart it to switch screens and applications.
Do you know how I can fix this? It is becoming a pain to work with.
    Thank you in advance.

I am not sure if this helps, but one of my mom's friends said to place a drop of alcohol (rubbing) just on the button and it will work, or at least it did for hers. So I tried that and it works (for a little while), which has got me to wondering, if it is stuck?

  • IPod Touch Home Button unresponsive

This only started to get bad Monday. It started to be finicky about Sunday. The button isn't stuck; "clicks" like it should when pressed but the device is entirely unresponsive unless it's pressed and held to get ANY response whatsoever. Very frustrating. When pressed, it goes down fully without much pressure like it should and comes back "up" when released.
I don't know what to do or what even caused this. It *almost* seems like a software issue, since I recently updated to 6-point-whatever iOS for the Touch 4 and that was pretty recently.
I'll try using canned air on the button itself this weekend if there happens to be any sort of dirt underneath it.

  • IPod touch home button single tap = double tap

Sometimes when I tap the home button on my iPod touch 4th gen (iOS 5.1.1), it acts as if I double-tapped. I have already replaced it under warranty. Is this a common issue? Should I ask apple for another swap or will it not make a difference?

That happens to me, but only when I hold the button slightly longer than usual but still acts as though I double clicked it.

  • Ipod touch home button now working

My ipod touch's home button ( circle with white square) is not working for some reason, which means i have to completely turn off my ipod touch. My ipod touch is 2nd generation, and has the newest software version , 4.0. If anyone can help me with my dilemma, it would be greatly appreciated.

If the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost under your warranty.
