Ipod Touch/iphone wireless podcast

Call me a luddite but why OH why does Apple make a wireless device that can't download podcasts wirelessly???
Even a greater sin after the v2 update and 3g iphone. Does Apple really expect someone who is travelling lots to have to tether the ultimate wireless communication device to a PC/MAC to get a new podcast!
Are their any plans to expand the itunes app to allow podcast download?
Where can I make a plea to Apple.
I know Apple have a view on large app store app's not being downloaded over 3g/gprs and OK over wifi and obviously podcasts are normally quite large. Perhaps this is a 'reason' - pretty lame one if so.
If Apple want any clues on how to do it - check Mobilecast out (google it to find it).
Oh and again if anyone knows how to 'feature request' Apple and even better get a sensible explanation on the evil of podcasts then pls let me know!
Cheers

Thanks but I have never had a problem streaming podcasts, it's downloading and sync'ing that's the issue on officially locked Apple ipod touch V1.x.x and now V2.
As mentioned if you have the right type of ipod you can use MobielCast which is a perfect application and puts Apple to shame, especially in beta version 2.2.4 > read about it hear http://www.installerapps.com/2007/11/09/mobilecast/
I have bought V2 firmware but I am not upgrading until a wireless podcast downloader/sync app is available or Apple get their act together and make the itunes app on board able to download and sync over wifi.
Cheers

  • CANNOT CONNECT iPhone/iPod touch to WIRELESS INTERNET wi-fi - (TTLS vs WEP)

Hi. I bought the iPod touch on the day it came out; took it home, it all worked fine.
At home i have a wireless router, and it supports the WEP format. so my iPod connects to the internet perfectly.
the day i took it to school was the day I got very disappointed at Apple.
My school, Concordia University, supports only the TTLS format, because it provides better security. But not the iPod touch, nor the iPhone support TTLS, they only work with WEP!
So naturally, i'm not able to connect to the internet using my iPod, and i found out everybody else who has an iPhone has the same problem.
what's even more surprising is that most of the hotspots (95% of them) downtown also work only with TTLS. apparently it's a newer technology. You can imagine how frustrated i was when i was unable to use my iPod touch for one of it's main functionalities.
So why doesn't the iPhone or the iPod touch support this ????
it's such a simple and necessary function, and yet they decided not to put it on ...
So I ask Apple to include TTLS support in the next iPod/iPhone software update.
And everybody else who owns an iPod touch / iPhone should also let Apple know of this serious lacking in their firmware.

Ya i have to admit, i'm very disappointed right now. I'm really close to getting n iPod Touch but because of this situation, their's no way in **** i'll be spending that money without it working at my university (Concordia).
This is not an admin problem at my university. They're using a protocol (like many others) to protect their users from crooks and such. Doesn't it make sense to think that the majority of iPod users, go to school? Of course it does. I don't get how this "authentication" was dropped easily like this.
Unfortunately, Montreal is infested with TTLS format (which the OP has already mentioned) and that blows at the fact that iPT doesn't support it.
All students are crying out to Apple right now because of this, Guys! Make it happen, please!

  • Ipod Touch / iPhone as wireless adapter

i dont understand yet why apple hasn't given their iPod Touch / iPhone the ability to bridge a wireless connection and feed it to desktops or other devices. it seems to me that these small, portable devices would be perfect as wireless adapters. Why wouldn't apple want to do this?

this being a user-to-user forum, you might want to ask Apple via _*iPod Touch Feedback*_.

  • Internet: PC/Mac to Ipod touch/iPhone sync

New Operating system update request: To be able to connect to the internet through my PC or Mac without buying a wireless modem
My computer is in my basement and, most of my friends' are too, I really like playing my apps online in the comfort of my basement because it's steaming hot upstairs (where I can get internet) and I got want to get a wireless modem at this time. If there's going to be an iOS 4.1.2 i really want a Computer (PC/Mac) to iPod touch/iPhone internet sync.

You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. First you have to connect the iPod to the new Mac and via USB and make the Mac the new syncing computer. See:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
Then you can set up wifi syncing.

Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.

  • IPod touch / iPhone: Smart Playlists empty / missing after 3.1.3 Update

    Dear all,
the following problem is very persistent and it happened to me and a friend of mine (iPod touch / iPhone), in both cases, smart playlists created in iTunes (Mac), latest version, are home to several tracks. These tracks are being transferred to the iPod/iPhone - but the playlist doesn't show up or is shown as empty (both cases happened). The tracks are on the iPod/iPhone if you select them manually.
Re-Creating the playlists helped, but this is not the solution as the problem pops up with other playlists after having done that (however, the re-created playlists work).
The iPods/iPhones have been reset, freshly installed etc., music has been taken off completely from them - the problem remains / comes back.
It seems as if 3.1.3 has a problem with smart playlists and dubious one at that. Annoying at the very same time.
I'm a bit disappointed about having wasted several hours of my life on this problem, that is not what I expect from Apple. :/
    Any permanent solutions out there?
    Alex.

    "Some sort" of solution.
So after having dabbled with Apple's attempt for a solution, I seem to have found one that seems(...) to work for me when it comes to audio books:
    - create a new smart playlist
    - filter the current cd "Terry Pratchett (Disc 2))
    - counter is 0
    and(!)
    add:
maximum of X hours, sorted by NAME... that actually did the trick.
Of course, you need one more thing: you have to add the track's name to the name of the audio track... (see Doug's apple scripts for that script).
Honestly... I'm a bit disappointed that I had to become smarter than Apple. Don't you want to give me a job, guys?

  • Can I set up an iCloud account without owning a Mac, iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad?

I would like to know if I can set up an iCloud account without owning a Mac, iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad.  I own a laptop that runs Windows 7 and I would like to be able to access my past purchases for all the computers in my family.

There is no way to setup iCloud on a PC, it must be setup first on a compatible Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all podcasts and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Tap Tap Revenge on iPod Touch/iPhone

Anyone downloaded a game application called Tap Tap Revenge? It's for iPod Touch/iPhone with the 2.0 software upgrade. I browsed through the iTune's Application Store today and found this game. It looks awesome, but when I tried to purchase it for free, it said it was no longer available. I even tried closing/reopening iTuns and tried to download the application, but it was still no good. Anyone who downloaded this game before it's availability was gone, mind uploading it for me and for other people who are in need of this awesome application? I don't want to wait until Apple fixes it. I want to play now. D:
    I'll really appreciate it. Thanks~

It wasnt working for me this afternoon and just downloaded it to try to kill some time and it works!

  • Ipod touch / iphone / ipod nano won't connect to iTunes (not recognized)

Up until yesterday everything was working fine. But now when I connect my ipod touch, iphons (1st), or ipod nano to iTunes, my PC recognizes them (show up in Windows Explorer), but iTunes does not recognize them anymore.
    I don't know what changed.
    I have reset all devices.
I have completely removed and reinstalled iTunes. (I've tried iTunes 10.5.1 and 10.5.2)
I have shut down and rebooted the PC (several times).
I have tried different USB ports and different cables.
My Windows 7x64 is fully updated.
Does anyone know how to help?

Sorry, I followed both guides and uninstalled everything - rebooted, reinstalled iTunes like your second link instructions said.
PC sees all devices fine in Windows Explorer (and makes the pling sound when I connect them, they just do not show up in iTunes.
(ipod nano, ipod touch 32GB, iphone 1st gen, ipad 1st gen)
Manually starting or restarting all itunes/ipod related services doesn't do a thing either, nothing will sync.
    I'm at a loss.

OK. I assume I can use the device to hook up to a projector/a big screen TV as well like a computer?

  • Creating iPod touch/iPhone web sites with iWeb

I have a web site created with iWeb, i was woundering if it's possible to create a web site specifically for the iPod touch/iPhone platform . Or is there some tamplates in iWeb for creating iPhone/iPod touch web sites ?

Here's a site I created with the iPad in mind.
    http://ipad.dailynews.webege.com/
    I used a template from iWork's Pages.
Then I made a page setup for the width and height of the iPad screen : 1024x768 or rather 768x1024.
The paper size = 28,40 x 34,50 cm. The papersize is slightly larger because I had a background in mind but changed that later.
The display percentage is 100% so it will look the same as in iWeb.
I copy/pasted the objects from Pages to iWeb.
Then used the iPad simulator to view it. Hopefully it's the same with a real iPad.
See if you accomplish the same for the iPhone/iPod touch.

  • IWeb - iPod Touch/iPhone web compatible templates

I really want to do a website for my band and embed some tunes/movies so peeps with mobile items such as the Touch and iPhone can view em.
    Help?

iWeb should automatically be compatible with iPod touch/iPhone-those devices get the full internet, with quicktime, automatically.
    good luck!
