IPod touch is not turning on, showing up in itunes, and it's not showing up in My Computer

My touch is 2nd generation. I have tried to do all the restarts and tried to put it into DFU mode, but nothing happens. I din't drop it or anything and that is why I'm confused. What would cause it not to turn on at all, or show up in My Computer and not show up in itunes?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

It doesn't quite work that way. Transfer your music from the old computer to the new one. Then, sync the iPod.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

Hi... I really need some help from you guys. My ipod touch is not responding whenever I connect it to my PC. It gives no feedback. I have only used it for a year now and the warranty that came with it is expired. I hope I can get a good answer from you guys. ThanKs!!!

Whenever I put my ipod touch off and plug it to my computer it turns on but it doesnt sync... .. Moreover, I have used different PCs so as to try it syncing.. I have used mac book pro and windows 7 laptops but it gives similar feedback, which is NO FEEDBACK at all...

  • Brand new iPod Touch is not being recognized by my computer

    Hello,
I just bought a brand new iPod Touch. I had iTunes installed since this is a replacement to a very old iPod. When I plugged my new iPod Touch to start the very first sync, iTunes crashed and started giving me a Windows 7 error (999). After many frustrated attempts to reinstall iTunes (and a few blue screens in between), I followed a recommendation in one of the postings to delete all the Apple programs in a certain order. It worked and I was able to reinstall iTunes. The problem now? My USB, which at one point kept asking for the software to install the iPod, won´t recognized it anymore. Period. I´ve rebooted several times and whenever I plug my iPod in any of the four USB ports, absoluletely nothing happens, as if nothing had ever been plugged in. I tested the USB with my blackberry and it recognized it. Please help!! Thanks!

Ok, I just figured out so I´ll post it here in case someone has the same issue. I turned off my iPod while connected to the computer. Afterwards, the "other" connection showed up again in the device manager but this time it stayed there without disappearing and with the exclamation point on. I then proceed with one of the instructions in this posting to install the driver for the apple mobile which then showed up in the USB section of the hardware (it was never there until now). Bingo! I got my iPod Touch to connect for the first time! But seriously, why should it be so hard???? I'm concerned with the number of postings here. It looks as if Apple is selling the hottest toys but not be the best ones in terms of quality...

  • My iPod touch is disabled, it says to connect to iTunes and I did but it is still disabled! How do I get it not to be disabled without also erasing all my files and data in my iPod?

I really need help with this, my iPod was disabled by my brother and I don't know how to get it back to normal again. I connected it to iTunes and it still shows up there with all my songs. However, the iPod itself is not working. I've tried multiple things but I don't want my data to be erased so im a bit cautious about what to do. Also, it would help if someone could explain what exactly happens when an iPod is 'restored' 'restored mode' or in 'recovery mode'. If someone could help me it'd be much appreciated. Thanks

    You need to restore.
Everything should be on your computer, so you can just sync it back.

  • My iPod Touch Will Not Be Recognized By My Computer But By Others

I had my iPod touch on charge last night and then turned everything off. This morning,, I needed to charge my iPod so I plugged it and my laptop wouldn't recognize it at all. In "My Computer" and iTunes, and it won't even charge. I plug it in different USB ports and it still doesn't do anything. I try a different computer and it works fine.
    What's wrong?

    Have you tried here:

  • My battery on my ipod touch keeps draining.  i have updated in itunes and turned off wifi....can anyone help??

My battery life on my ipod touch used to last for days if i wasnt using it.  I have updated from itunes recently and my battery is draining in hours.  i have switched off wifi and this has not helped.  i also turned off notifications as well.  can anyone help

Did you already reset your device by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Also try to delete the mail account in case you're using push/fetch to get your mail. There have been cases in which mail didn't stop connecting to the server, causing the battery drain.

  • 4th gen ipod touch wont charge, turn on, or appear in itunes for recovery.

I have been trying to fix it for a few days now, repeatedly being linked to the same support pages but to no success. I ran the diagnostics tool in iTunes and everything is working fine it is just the device wont appear at all. I saw a back up that is saved from a few months back but i'm not sure what to do with it. It is stuck in a black screen, and nothing appears on screen. I have left it plugged into a wall charger and into my computer for several hours but no progress. It has 6.1.5.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
