IPod touch isn't showing up on My Computer

I'm trying to move my pictures off of my iPod and onto my laptop, but when I go to My Computer, my iPod doesn't show up. Forums and discussions said that if it's not updated, it needs to be, so I did, but it's still not showing up.

Open up the iTunes application. Does it show up there?

Mac OSX Lion v10.7.4 ipod touch isn't showing up in iTunes

I am using a Mac OSX Lion v10.7.4 and my ipod touch isn't showing up in my itunes. I've followed all of the articles' instruction and restated them both a million times and it still hasn't worked. What is there left to try?

have you tried using a different usb port on your computer some are not strong enough, does your cord still charger your phone? if not then maybe its the cord. have you uninstall itunes? ( it has six things to successful unistall it)

I realize that there are several other topics that talk about this problem, but so far none have really helped me. My goal is to have my iPod Touch be recognized as a camera so I can upload all my photos from my Saved Photos to my computer and finally clear up some much needed space on it. Please don't refer me to software that will allow me to move photos from my iTouch to my PC because either they are all only trial versions or they don't allow me to access the images from my Saved Photos album.
Currently my iPod Touch does not show up in My Computer. I'm running Windows XP. Checking my Device Manager for the driver, the only driver that comes up that relates to my iPod is called Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling that driver (and one I was able to get the iPod to show up in My Computer as a camera but when I clicked on it, it said that there were no pictures in the device [and I clearly do], and after uninstalling the driver again and reinstalling it the icon went away). I've read that maybe uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling it might fix my problem, but I'm weary to uninstall it for fear that I might loose all my applications that I've synced into iTunes as well as my purchases and all the movies and things I've downloaded.
If anyone has any comments, suggestions, or further questions about my problem, PLEASE say so because this is very urgent and I need all the help I can get.

Also, I forgot to add that my iTouch is a 1st Gen I believe (I'm sorry, I got it for a Christmas gift, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1st Gen).

It won't show. It's not the cable at all. I plugged up to the itunes on mom's computer and it showed up. I resatred my computer even installed new updates on my computer. I went as far as deleting programs I don't use. Itunes freezes up on me then I have to close it down. When I try to open it back up again, I have to click the shortcut on my desktop, on my toolbar, in my menu, and go as far as in the start menu and use the run option. I called apple and I had to pay to get help?!!?!?! That's some bullsh*t. I'm only a teenager. Where the **** am I going to get 29 dollars from?
BTW I'm using it on my pc and it's a second generation. If I uninstall Itunes will all of my music get deleted too??

Up until four days ago my ipod touch was working perfectly! Now it won't show up on Itunes however it still shows up on my laptop as a camera. I've tried numerous solutions to fix this problem, such as uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, factory reset on the ipod, I've tested it on other computers and it works fine, so I know the problem is with Itunes! I'm using windows 8 as an OS.

I haven't been able to sync my ipod touch forever because it's not showing up on my new computer which is an older macbook. I went through all the support questions and tried everything it said, but it's still not showing up. Any ideas?
I just updated itunes today. Everything works find on my ipod but this.

My iPod Touch isn't showing up on my PC

I have scoured the Apple support pages trying to resolve this issue, and have tried every possible solution, and nothing seems to be working. Whenever I plug the iPod into the computer, nothing happens. It doesn't show up on my computer, let alone iTunes. I have re-installed iTunes five times in the last day, done every little trick on my computer's end that was suggested, tried different cables and USB ports, and even formatted my iPod to try and at least get SOME sort of recognition, but nothing I could find on these pages seems to work. Is there something I'm missing, or is my iPod beyond help?

An iPod can't be formatted although it can be restored.
Just what did you do?
What was the "SOME sort of recognition"?

IPod Touch no longer showing up under My Computer

My iPod Touch is no longer showing in the device list under My Computer and as such can't access it to get my photos off it.
It works in iTunes just fine, syncs fine, etc.
If I go to Devices and Printers, it used to be listed under the Devices category as iPod, but now shows under the Unspecified category as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver, so basically a generic device.
I have no devices with exclamation points or any other trouble signs under Device Manager.

Well, I am not entirely sure what exactly happened but after trying numerous times to reinstall the drivers and getting all sorts of error messages, I finally got Windows 7 to cooperate. The iPod Touch now shows up and is being detected as a digital camera under Devices, and under Computer it is showing up under Portable Devices. If I double-click on it I can view my pictures, transfer them, delete them, etc.

A few months ago my old ipod touch stopped showing up in itunes and when I connect it to my computer. it's like it just doesn't exist anymore. what happened? how can i transfer my music to my new ipad? it still connects to the store and i can still download to it, but it is invisible to both my computer and itunes so no syncing....

IPod Touch 4G not showing up in My Computer (Windows 7)

I'm new to the forums and I don't know whether this is the right place for a Windows user to post a problem. If not, disregard this thread.
My iPod Touch 4G doesn't always show up in My Computer making video/picture transfer impossible. So far I've gotten the following results:
1 - iPod Touch 4g shows up as a digital camera with a camera icon. It then can be accessed through My Computer but iTunes won't see it.
2 - iPod Touch 4g doesn't show up in My Computer at all. iTunes, however, see it just fine.
3 - iPod Touch 4g shows up in My Computer as iPod with a black iPod icon. It then can be accessed through My Computer and iTunes.
I've tried updating, reinstalling the driver and plugging the device into a different USB port but so far no luck. This is actually a pretty common problem for Windows users. This is the only device that I have such an issue with.
I'm on a fresh Windows install and it's up-to-date.
