IPod Touch: Listining to music after having watched a video

I have a Ipod Touch (32G) since last Saturday and absolutely love it. However, there is one thing that I am wondering. I use the Ipod during my commuting and sometimes I listen to music (using the shuffle option) and other times I watch video. After I have watched a video I want to continue listening to the song that was playing prior to watching the video. Unfortunately, the ipod starts all over with a different song. Does anybody know if its possible to return to the same song after having watched a video?

Unfortunately no. At least not on the iTouch firmware version 2.x (I didn't bother checking on 3.x). This is my biggest gripe with iTouch. It can never remember which track your played after switching to the video or restarting device. My theory it remembers it as long as Audio Player application is still loaded in the RAM. But usually when you call up Video Player app it needs to free up RAM and closes down Audio Player.
But you CAN return to the same place in the TRACK if you set it in the iTunes to remember track position. This very useful for audio books or tracks that are very long (i.e. mix compilation when album in single track).
EDIT: I was wrong! Never was I so happy to be wrong. Looks like they did something in 3.x firmware. It now indeed remebers which trac/album you were playing! But you have do double-tap home button and it will go to the last song you played. Amazing! Thanks Apple!

  • Ipod Touch shows more "music" after sync than is on Ipod

    Hi,
I received an Ipod Touch for Christmas last year, it's been updated to iOS 5.0.1 but no farther. Since December, the Ipod is showing that I have (currently) 1.4G more music tracks than are really there, but only after I hit the "Sync" button in Itunes. The "Music" bar goes from 47.6G to 49G, and usually will not drop back down after the sync is over, and the amount of "lost" data has increased over time. The Ipod itself says I have 47.6G of music on the device, not 49G. I manually drag and drop my tracks, I do not use automatic sync.Today I right clicked on the Ipod through Itunes, hit "Backup", and after doing the back up it showed 1.4G missing from the Ipod. Could the backup be corrupted?
I can't figure out where this "ghost" data is going. I have downloaded podcasts directly onto the Ipod, I have cancelled syncs due to the "greying out" of tracks, I have deleted tracks off the Ipod through the Ipod - I don't know if any or all of that is cauing the problem.
I hesitate to do a "restore from backup" as all the "music" on the Ipod are audiobooks, which I keep in the "Music" section of the firmware. I have read that the restore *may* return all my tracks to the Ipod, or it *may not*. As it's a 64G Ipod, that's a lot of audiobooks I will have to find on backup and reformat if the tracks don't return. Also, as I have no idea WHY it's happening, I have no idea how to prevent it from happeneing again. The idea of having to do a biannual reformatting of the Ipod to reclaim lost gig fills me with distaste.
I have not called Apple as I have no idea if I used my free call or not, I don't have "Apple Care", and I haven't taken it to the "Genius Bar". I just thought maybe someone here has had a similar issue or maybe knows what's going on with the Ipod.
    Thanks for your time!

the laptop is about 6 years old and runs a wobbly windows XP pro on 1,5 GB RAM (transfer speed is 0,5 GB/hr, not really an option) and the main PC runs Vista 64 4GB RAM.
Same version of the same antivirus program, both are set to scan ipod only on demand. Exchange of drive letter did not make any difference.
Neither port change or exchange of cable did make any difference until the latest itunes update everything worked fine (no other updates made around that time).
After a complete deinstall and reinstall of an older version of iTunes - no change.
Complete format of ipod and "let itunes find ipod to restore" - no change.
Checked all involved drives and media - no errors - no change.
Restore Pod on laptop and move over to main PC - no change.
I'm getting rather frustrated as I simply cannot figure out what is the problem.
The most bugging part is I use mostly audiobooks (audible format) so Songbird is not an option either as very few other programs have aa/aax plugins (which is the only reason I'm using iTunes). Last time I used the pod, I simply wanted to sync the library, no errors, no hiccups, eject and ... no audiobooks, no music, but 111 GB of other.

  • IPod touch stop playing music after two songs!!

    Hello,
I hope you can help me, because my problem is very frustrating. I am listening to my iPod touch, in my car through the car speakers, or through the earbuds. Once a song stops playing and the next song after it starts playing, the second song gets about 20-30 seconds into it, and then it stops. Completely stops, and I look at it and I am back at the home screen. This does not happen every-time, but I still don't know why it does this.
I also have another problem of the same type, but this has to do with the videos in YouTube. I watch a YouTube video almost all the way through, but then at the end, maybe 1 minute left or so, it stops, and goes back to the home screen.
Also, when I am on the internet, Safari, and I am listening to music while loading a page, the music stops quickly after the page starts to load and then everything gets put back to the home screen.
I know thats a lot to read, and maybe reply to, I'm sorry, but those are all my problems.
Thank you so much for your time.
    -Sean

I have the exact same problem as originally reported. The song stops in the middle and then proceeds to the next song. One time I also saw the failure where I was returned to the main screen. More details follow.
My issue is 100% repeatable when it happens. As an example, I have a song I purchased on iTunes and downloaded last night. The song is 3:53 long and when I play it on my iPod Touch, while watching the "progress" bar, it consistently stops when the song reaches exactly 1 minute played. The progress bar continues silently for a few more seconds before then proceeding to the next song. This happens 100% consistently. However, if I manualy drag the progress indicator past the 1 minute mark while playing this song, the song will then play successfully until the end. I have the latest version, 1.1.2, on my iPod Touch.

  • Ipod touch wont sync music after restore/update

i recently came back from the apple store after trying to update my ipod to 4.2 and running across many errors. finally, my ipod is working again however as it had to be restored i have to sync everything back onto it. The apps, photos and videos synced fine but when it tries to sync music, itunes freezes right away. it will say syncing whatever song and it just stops. First, the number of songs and what song it syncs first seems to change every time i sync it. Sometimes it says 1 of 1 sometimes 168 out of 168, when it should be at least over 500 songs. Second, after i let the computer with the frozen itunes sit for a while, it came up with 2 error messages; one saying the song could not be synced because of error -20 i think, the second saying the data couldn't be written onto the ipod and then it froze forever on the finishing syncing bar. i've tried restarting my computer, disconnecting the internet and disabling my firewall. itunes is up to date and so is the ipod obviously. we use ca security center. please help i just want to be able to use my ipod again

the ca security people fixed my problem and its syncing fine. if anyone else has problems syncing while running ca security post on this forum and they will pm you the solution

All of the music on my Ipod Touch is blown out after I synched it with my new MacBook. I didn't get the 'synch' warning-- but now can't find my library of songs. I'm about to panic!

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. Thes those iTunes are not restored to the iPod unless they are in the iTunes library.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • 3rd Gen. Ipod Touch Access To Music On An External Hard Drive

Wondering if anyone has heard of or experimented with getting your iPod touch to access music files from an external hard drive. I have a 3rd gen. 64gb touch that is full and even though I love the storage capacity of the iPod Classic, I would hate to lose the touch functionality by going to one. I listen to the majority of my music while on the road for work. What I imagined in my head would be to transfer my music libray to a portable hard drive and have my Touch connected to it where it could access it. I know you can transfer your music library to an external hard drive connected to your computer and have iTunes access it but wasn't sure if the iPod would be able to do this.
It doesn't seem like Apple will ever increase the size of the iPod Touch beyond 64gb since it looks like everyone is pushing music streaming. I guess I'm one of those people who want their music anytime and anywhere without having to have an internet connection.
    Thanks,

You can get a HD like this. It uses wifi to and an app to access the HD

  • IPod Touch Speaker Distorting Music

    Hey everyone,
I'm writing music for an app that is going to be released for iPhone and iPod Touch, using Logic. After bouncing the finished songs, they sound great on my speaker system, through any headphones, and through my Macbook speakers. But, when played on my iPod Touch without the headphones in so the sound is coming out the little built in speaker, it distorts when it gets to certain areas of these songs when particular instruments are playing. Any idea as to why this is happening, and what I can do to prevent this? It's certainly not normal, no other apps that have background music do it.
    Thanks!
    John

The first thing I'd take a look at is the file's RMS level. Too high an rms level and you will be distorting either the speaker or output amp. The Speaker is probably receiving the sum of both stereo channels, too high an RMS output will surely overdrive the output section/speaker
The headphone output is taken from a different point in the circuitry, before the signals are summed...that's why it's output is clean.
Do you have any downloads from the iTunes music store? Can you load one into a stereo editor (or Logic) and take a look at the levels?
    (The other more remote possibility)
Are you mixing with a subwoofer?
If not, check to make sure you don't have to much gain on the low end, it could be a single instrument or it could be a combination of two (or more) instruments interacting. A Fender Rhodes patch and an electric or upright bass can interact and produce some nasty difference pitches. That's why I suggested rolling off anything below 200Hz (as a test) to see if the distortion clears up.

  • My ipod touch still freezing even after restoring it

plz i need help....my ipod touch still freezing even after restoring it...plz send me email to [email protected]

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod do that. If yuo are still having problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likely have a hardware problem.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are just users like yourself.

  • IPod touch 3g plays music while locked

For some reason only when the remote headphones are plugged in it'll start playing as if it were haunted about 40 min or so later. It seems to happen if the iPod was playing music and is paused and then locked. I've done my research and it seems this is common and even if I restore or get a refurb it'll still happen. I just want to know if apple is aware of this and if it plans to be fixed?

If the problem isn't the headphones or earbuds, then by elimination the problem has to be the mini output of the iPod Touch - which is known for having problems. If you go to your Apple Store, the Genius Bar will able to take a magnifier and document what problem there is with your iTouch mini output.
If Apple repairs your Touch, the price is likely to run over $170; iPod Juice, which isn't affiliated with Apple, does the same job for considerably less. Or, you could sell it on eBay, stipulating the specific issue to the potential buyer.

Was your wife logged into the libray at the time you tried to log in? I have had a similar problem and it was because another user was logged into the library when I attempted to. I got the permission denied banner.

If you did not yet connect with iTunes, you can place any music from your library back into your iPod from the computer. When set to automatically manage usic and videos, whatever iTunes finds changed in your music app will be reset to what is on your computer iTunes library.
