IPod Touch & MobileMe

I am looking to purchase an iPod Touch and was just wondering how it integrated with MobileMe. Will it sync contacts/bookmarks/calendars/e-mail over Wi-Fi using MobileMe?
All I can find on the iPod Touch page is setting up e-mail with a MobileMe account. No reference to contacts/bookmarks or calendars. I appreciate these items with sync when connected via USB.
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,
Yes, MobileMe can push contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and email to the iPod touch.
This article: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/features/iphone.html provides details about the MobileMe features available on the iPod touch.
This one:http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html will walk you through setting up MobileMe on your iPod touch and iMac.

  • Find my iPod Touch / MobileMe and Firewall settings

How can I configure my firewall to allow "Find my iPod" / MobileMe to to work from my home network?
"Find my iPod" doesn't find my iPod when I'm connected to my home network (I have a Verizon DSL connection, with a Westell router).
Everything else works, browsing the Internet, and the "Maps" app displays my location correctly.
However, on MobileMe, I get the "No location available" message and can't send a message or make the iPod beep either.
It works from other locations, but I was not able to find any documentation on some specific setting (firewall?) I'd have to change to enable it.
I do not want to completely disable the firewall on the router.

  • How to set up "Find My iPod Touch" 3G without MobileMe

Hi, I have an iPod touch 3G and want to set up "Find My iPod Touch" on it, as described here:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/find-my-ipodtouch-setup/
I'm running OS 4.3.4 (8K2) and have iTunes 10.4.1.  I have an AppleID but not a MobileMe account.  I understand that since iCloud is replacing MobileMe, they are not accepting any more subscriptions (not that I'm anxious to pay $99/year for what will now be a free service).  I'm not sure I want to create a new account anyway, because all the apps I own are linked to my current Apple ID which is not an email address.
I have a program called "Hidden" for my Macbook which works via wi-fi.  If I lose the Macbook, I log into the Hidden website and it triggers the Macbook to  broadcast its location via wi-fi (assuming it's within range of a signal).  So I would assume that since an iPod touch has wi-fi capabilities, it could do something similar even though it's not directly linked to the internet like an iPhone.
Does anybody know how I can get this going?
My son has an iPad 2 that is wi-fi only and I would like to set up the same for him.
Thanks for any help you can give!

I updated to OS5, and changed my Apple ID to the email account associated with it on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/manage/
and now Find My iPod Touch is installed!  Resolved!

  • Ical not pushing from mobileme to ipod touch

I've recently upgraded my ipod touch and switched from .mac to mobileme. My calendars are syncing OK between my mac and the "cloud" but none of the calendar data is raining down into my ipod touch. I've gone into the touch's system prefs, chosen my .mac account and turned on calendar syncing (the spoke ball spins for a few seconds to say its turning on calendar) but no calendars show up. I've tried turning it off and on again but still nothing. Do I have to go back to using itunes sync with wired connection to get my calendar to show on my ipod?

probably music sync is not open in itunes,go in itunes, select ipod, select music(you have there summary, music, video, etc.) and turn on music sync then go in summary and press sync and it must work

  • Find iPod Touch App - Problem Setting up MobileMe

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up the Find iPod Touch App. Unfortunately, not sure what "generation" this particular one is (is there an easy way to find out?)
I am following the instructions at http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/find-my-ipodtouch-setup/, and have OS v4.2.1 installed.
Following these instructions, I try to set up a MobileMe account, but when entering my apple id and password, receive a message saying:
"Device Not Supported". This iPod Touch is not qualified for free Mobile Me service.
Not sure where to go from here - is there something else I need to upload?
    Thanks.

From the 1st step in the above link:
Make sure your iPod touch is running iOS 4.2 or later. If you’re creating a free account for the first time, you need a fourth-generation iPod touch.
It sounds like you don't have a 4G iPod Touch.  Use this article to help you determine what generation iPod Touch you have.

  • MobileMe Gallery on iPod Touch

Hello! Anyone know if there's a way to get the MobileMe Gallery on Photos on an iPod Touch?

    No I had not!
It works great. Where in the world did you find that documented??
It would be nice if there were either an automatic redirect (once the me.com site identifies a Touch or iPhone) or an obvious button. I suspect many people will never figure this out on their own!

  • Is there any way to find a lost iPod Touch 4G without using Find My iPhone or MobileMe? By using the serial number or the iTunes account synced in it?

"Is there any way to find a lost iPod Touch 4G without using Find My iPhone or MobileMe? "
Other than looking for it or luck, no.
"By using the serial number or the iTunes account synced in it?"
    No.

  • Migrating to iCloud from MobileMe using iPod Touch

Sooooo...... I've finally decided to take the plunge and migrate to iCloud, well now I've been made to!
Having ALOT of problems. I now cant access my email at all, not via the web browser on my pc nor via my ipod touch's mail app.
All I get on the old mobileme site is "@me.com address needed. To use iCloud Mail, create an @me.com address by turning on Mail in your iCloud settings using iOS or OSX."
So off we go to my iPod Touch to try and Turn on Mail in my iCloud settings......
I try to sign into iCloud in Settings, after typing the correct password and login email address, it comes back saying that the details are incorrect!!!!
Then Settings completely freezes up, so I have to exit the Settings app, close it, and then try again, jsut to find the same thing happens each time.
    Any suggestions out there??
    Many Thanks

have you migrated your MM account to iCloud, using http://me.com/migrate or http://www.icloud.com/move ?
In all cases you should be able to login to iOS -> Settings -> iCloud using that old MM Apple-ID.
To access the URLS listed above you must use a Browser on a Computer ( Mac/PC/Linux ) , idevice's Safari  wont let you log in to the web-portals.

  • ICloud, MobileMe and iPod Touch 1G

My wife (iPad 2 and now iPhone 4S) and daughter (iPod Touch 4G) couldn't wait to get their hand on iOS 5 and iCloud.  So far they are very satisfied with all the changes.
Me, I'm still using one of our 1G iPod Touch units.  The battery is fine and it does what I need - music and MobileMe email.
When iClound was released I jumped first and converted my MobileMe account and didn't do all my homework.  I still get all my email, but I haven't figured out how to get my iCal and Contacts information to sync.  Can anyone point me to some help in configuring my Mac and iPod?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Thanks for the feedback.  Since my original post I've retreated all the way back to using iTunes to sync both my Contacts and iCal.  I managed at one point to get all my contacts off my Mac and onto iCloud only and found no easy way to recover accept to retrieve them from an earlier Time Machine backup.
If it wasn't for the fact that my employer found necessary to get my connected 24x7 via a BB, I would have an iPhone 4/4s now and enjoying all the new 'Toys'.

  • Can I sync an iPod Touch that is using a different MobileMe email?

Howdy! I have a MacBook Laptop, with separate user accounts for each family member (ie, the list on the Login Window). We also have a family pack for MobileMe, with separate emails.
I'm getting an iPod touch, and want to set it up with my husband's MobileMe account.
Can I sync the iPod touch to the MacBook while I am logged on to my user account and iTunes? Or does he have to sync under his own log-in account?
I'd like to be able to share the apps that I have already purchased... I know they go to my iPhone and iPad within my MobileMe account just fine, but I wasn't sure if getting another iPod touch with a different email within our Family Pack would be allowed to share the apps.
    Thanks for your help!

That should work, just don't synch the email account with your account, set it up manually on the iPod Touch.
    enjoy your magic machine

  • If I upgrade to Lion and migrate MobileMe to iCloud, can I still sync my 2nd generation iPod Touch to my MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo) via USB cable?

I am very reluctantly considering upgrading to Lion and going ahead and migrating MobileMe to iCloud before June 2012. If I upgrade and migrate, will I still be able to sync my 2nd generation iPod Touch via USB cable? Or will these changes force me to get a new iPod that can run iOS 5 because syncing will be nightmarish?

Thanks for your reply. I would prefer to keep using this iPod for a while yet. Cheers!

  • How do i get mobileme on ipod touch 2nd generation

i just bought a ipod touch 2nd generation from my friend. i already updated the iOS to a 4.1. i found out i couldnt get icloud. but how do i get mobileme on it?? please help!!!

You can't.  Apple stopped new subscriptions to Mobil Me a long time ago. AmobleMd shuts down in June of this year. This is what you can do:
iCloud: What if my device or computer doesn't meet iCloud system requirements?

  • Exchange - iPod Touch/iPhone - MobileMe- iCal/Address Book possible?

Not sure how to ask this other than to create a subject showing the flow I want.
I have an iPod Touch. I can connect to Exchange 2003 server and get my contacts and calendar from that into my iPod touch. HOWEVER, I want to get that data over into MobileMe (and from there into iCal and AddressBook).
This doesn't appear to be possible? Am I right? If not, why not?

Well, the way I do it on our Exchange network is:
    1. Use Entourage on my MacBook and setup the email / calendars with my exchange account.
    2. On the MacBook, in iCal, make a calendar called "Entourage" -- this will sync up the calendar from Entourage to iCal once you turn on the "iCal and .mac" sync option in Entourage.
    3. Then when I sync my iPhone with the MacBook, that calendar (and my others) are sync'd to the phone.
I don't use MobileMe so I can't verify if this will sync that as well.

  • Mail no longer syncs, MobileMe was fine, iCloud won't let iPod Touch sign in

4.2.1  , it's a 4 year old iPod Touch, mail synced using Mobile Me until recently. Now can't even get it to sign in in settings.
