I am also having the problem of my ipod nano turning itself off after 50 secs. This didn't happen 3 days ago. I have reset, used other sets of headphones to no avail.If i plug the ipod into a speaker dock the issue is solved. Can anyone help me please.

If the solutions in the manual does not work, take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

IPod corrupt - nano 6th gen

I have a 6th generation iPod nano. It's brand new as it is a replacement to an older one. Upon it's first connection iTunes error message said it was corrupt, it recommended restoring it or reconnecting it. Either did not work. However I connected it to my girlfriend's laptop and it worked fine, is this a problem with the iPod (as apple have said they will replace it again) or could it be a problem with the laptop?

It's hard to tell if the problem is with your laptop as none of us can actually "see" it t know what is actually going on.

IPod Nano 6th Gen Touch Problems

So I have an iPod Nano 6th Gen, and my touch screen is acting weird. It will work and detect my touch, but it will randomly act as if I'm touching it when I'm not, for example I set it to time on wake, then when I wake it I see the clock for a second then it jumps to my home screen and starts "touching" icons. I did a test in the diag mode by holding all 3 buttons at once, and I get the results shown below, the Cal and SC and green and 0C is red, not sure what these mean but I'm guessing they are all supposed to say OK!. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried restoring the device?
Diagnostic mode is only for the Apple Technicians. We have no way of using that information.

Ipod nano 6th gen touch screen stopped working please help

Everything on the ipod nano 6th gen is working except the touch screen and once it goes to sleep i have to hold the sleep button and the volume down button to turn it back on. I went into the volume -, sleep, volume + menu and went through the tests and in the touch panel error check section it says i have IC error reported: 0xFFFFFFFF. Please help as i have reset and restored and update itunes etc. Do i need to send it in to apple? The touch screen was working at one stage and then i disconected from the computer while it said eject first (this is when the touch screen stopped working) and put the ipod on a different computer. The first computer was windows 7 which i used just to charge it a little and the second one im using is windows vista.

I have had the same problem and changed three Nano's. Each time the fault is diagnosed by Apple as "water damage".
If you take your Nano to one of their maintenance centres they will look into either the headphone socket or the power dock and and tell you that you have infringed the warranty by somehow getting the thing wet.
Basically is a poorly designed piece of kit whereas a simple shuffle is way more robust.
I have given up with my Nano and am now using an old model

Ipod nano 6th gen unresponsive touch after lcd change

hello people,
i just changed the lcd/digitizer over on a nano 6th gen and now the touch is completely unresponsive. the screen is a-ok im just wondering if theres some kind of magical 'thing' someone could suggest. ive tried the power/volume reset and ive restored it in itunes.....no luck.

When I originally purchased the Nano it had the small icons. Then a few days after the update 1.2 (the change to big icons) I noticed the stream of music would stop every time the screen either locked or went off automatically. I know that it's not my headphones because I never had any problem like this before. I've factory reset the thing twice via iPod and via computer- nothing. Also it's not my headphones because it does the same thing in my car aux port. I searched this this topic and it looks like other people are having the same problem

My ipod nano (6th gen) keeps connecting and disconnecting itself from my computer can anyone help?

I have read numerous posts online about the same problem but can't seem to sort mine out. I've tried changing power leads, restoring back till an older version of itunes, resetting the ipod, restarting my computer and tried every USB port in sight but still nothing.
I have plugged a friends ipod touch into my computer and it connects and appears in itunes fine, but with mine it wont stay connected long enough for me to try and restore anything with it on itunes its literally a 1 second interval between connected and ejecting. I thought maybe it could be the connection terminal on the ipod but i have had it connected to a wall charger and xbox with it staying connected with no problems.
I am running windows vista on the computer and the nano was previously synced to a different itunes could this be the problem and if so how do I go about fixing it??

I too am having this same issue. I connect my iPod nano (6th gen), and it appears for anywhere between 1 to 10 seconds and then automatically ejects.
I'm running a macbook pro with OS X 10.6.8 and the most up to date version of iTunes. The strange thing is that the nano works fine on my old macbook from 2007; which also has the most up to date iTunes but is running OS X 10.5. Another thing is that my iPod touch works just perfectly on my MacBook Pro.
I have read up on a lot of forums, and have found little help for those who are running into this problem on a Mac. The majority of fixes are for PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have changed USB ports, cables, reset, restored and was able to sync one time in parts, not all songs at once. I have seen a lot of this same issue, will Apple please find a solution, nothing works, I think I wasted my money with this iPod. I have the iPod touch, iPod shuffle, 4th gen iPod nano, iPhone and iPad. This is the only device that has this issue.

I was actually able to investigate and solve the problem myself. After readng many posts, I found that someone else's tips worked for me:

Try running a disk check out the iPod using the tools provided by windows.
To do this:
1. Plug in your iPod and close iTunes.
2. Go to "My Computer". Click on the iPod drive once. Go to File, and then click Properties.
3. Go to the Tools tab. Under "Error Checking", click Check Now.
4. Check both boxes. One says "Automatically fix file system errors" and the other says "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". Place a check mark next to each of these options and hit Start.
The scan may take several minutes or more to complete, but once it has, go ahead and restart iTunes, and try re-syncing files to your iPod.

IPod nano 6th gen digitizer issues

Hi,
I recently replaced the battery in my oow ipod nano 6th gen. After replacing everything, it booted up fine, but now the touch screen capabilties are not working. I took apart another oow 6th gen nano and I get the same result.
I went to the diagnostics menu and whenever I press "Sensor Test" it says Please Wait and will flash back to previous menu. The same happens with "IC version" and when I check for errors, it says No IC error reported. It's a bit confusing.
Does anyone have any ideas?

No, the 6th Gen Nano does NOT support video. It does not say that in the description. Find the tech specs here:

Video podcasts can be loaded, but then you will just get a frame from the video as album art and the audio of the podcast.

Sync address book & iCal in iPod nano (6th Gen)?

today I switched from an ancient iPod to a brandnew iPod nano 6th Gen. To my utter surprise there seems to be no (straightforward) way to sync my address book or iCal...? Needless to say, the olden iPod offered that feature. Have I overlooked something???

thanks for your fast reply! Unfortunately it is as feared... Of course you are right in that I could have spotted the missing functionality in the User Guide. However, nobody documents the functions they leave out -> you need a list of required functions and compare it with the available functions... :-(
I understand that Apple wants to differentiate the nano from e.g. the touch. But leaving out such basic functions which were even present in the iPod 1G is a sure way to p*** off even the most loyal customers. I buy Apple products (at a higher price) because I want things to simply work! If I wanted problems, I would by my PCs - or my MP3-players in the dept store around the corner. Arrggghhh!!!

Ipod nano 6th gen keeps disconnecting

Hi all, I have a 2 year old ipod nano 6th gen and when I first brought it I synced it with my windows 7 computer. I now have a mac so about a month ago I started syncing it with my mac, and all was fine. However, I noticed it wasnt syncing my 25 top played about two weeks ago so I did a system restore. After I disconnecting my ipod (which is the final stage in the restore) I then connected it again to sync all my music back on to the ipod, but after about 50 songs it came up with a pop up box saying that I had disconnected the ipod so it couldnt be synced, however I had not touched the ipod. I have also tried a friend's ipod cord and I have tried syncing my ipod with my old windows 7 computer but when I try to sync it it still says after about 50 songs that I have disconnected the ipod. I have turned off automatic sync and I have tried restarting the ipod and my computer and nothing has helped, any ideas?

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step. If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.

IPOD nano 6th gen recovery problem?

I am trying to restore my ipod nano 6th gen to factory settings as I was having problems with it. I followed the promps and now it just sits there saying "Do Not Disconnect" with the flashing circle with a bar through it. Can anyone help?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
