Ipod touch non responsive

One day after work i went to listen to my ipod and it wouldnt do anything but showed the battery was dead. so i plugged it in but it would not power up but just kept showing the red low battery. My computer does not recognize it and it is completely functionless, im not sure what i should do with it

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.

  • IPhone Gen 1 - Bottom Multi-Touch non-responsive

My phone is out of warranty as of July 2nd, 2008. Google this issue about the bottom half of the iHone not working and this is a KNOWN MANUFACTURE defect but Apple wants $199 to replace with like model of Gen 1 iPhone.
If I want to spend the same money I can get the 3G but I have to extend my contract for a KNOWN MANUFACTURE defect.
Does anyone work at apple that could please help me replace my first gen iphone with another first gen. iphone.
    - Life long Apple User

I just had the same problem with a non-responsive bootom portion of the screen on my 1st generation. Apple knows that it is a screen defect yet to all of us first buyers and believers in Aplle service, they just want to sell us a new iphone. I had gone into the store after being told tha it was a know defect to Apple the day before to purchase a new 3G iphone for my girlfriend and replace my 1st generation phone...but am told that to since my phone was purchased in July of 2007, known defect or not, it will not be replaced and to repair it is the same price as the new 3G!!! so much for believing in Apple service, especailly when I see that others below have had their phone replaced "no questions asked"!!! If anyone hears of replacement or Apple standing up to the service standards, please let me know.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod shuffle 4th generation.
The iPod shuffle Dock is only compatible with the iPod shuffle 2nd generation as seen here:

  • My ipod touch is locked up and non-responsive

I have tried to reset by holding lock and power buttons at the same time with no success. I have a white screen and the ipod is non-responsive to anything.

    - If you can turn it off try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes.
    - Otherwise let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try a reset (both buttons) and a restore.
    - If screen is still white then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple stoe.

  • Trusty iPod Touches Last chance!!

After searching the web for almost a week, trying everything everyone else has suggested and reading forums until my eyes hurt I felt I needed to make a post to see if anyone can help...
    Here's the problem:
iPod touch 1st gen , firmware 2.2.1 - worked fine until the screen broke several months ago. A complete strip down and rebuild with new screen and worked perfectly (on daily basis) for well over a month - then a black screen. The iPod is non responsive to all buttons pressed and it doesn't matter what combination you use or for how long you hold them - just a black screen...
    * Plugged into itunes - ipod recognised in restore mode...
    * Pressed restore and got error code 1600
    * After a while on the net found that 1600 is related to firmware - therefore new firmware downloaded....
    * Tried all versions of firmware from version 1 to 3 - same error code when I specified the ipsw file to boot from - error 1600.....
    * Firmware 3.0.1 - iPod suddenly shows the apple logo, but hangs on the restore - left for 10 mins itunes comes up with a 1604 error....
    * Tried restore on windows machine (yuk!), but also did fresh install of itunes on both mac and pc - no joy... same error codes (occassionally through in the odd 1601/2 error aswell!)
    * Tried using different USB and Firewire ports - same result.
Question - why does it do nothing until I try booting from 3.0.1 firmware and why does it hang and finally give a 1604 error code? I have tried what seems to be everything and I am the sort of person who doesn't give up easily, so can anyone help?
p.s. The car is quiet on the drive into work because of no iPod and shelling out over £100 at the moment for a new one isn't quiet on the cards!

    Welcome to the discussions,
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
more info here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 , Specific error codes and resolutions
Some solved the error by deleting the firmware file on the computer and connecting in recovery mode to force a new firmware download from the Apple server. The firmware files are located in user/library/iTunes/ipod software updates. Copy them to a save place in case you'll need them again, delete the files in the folder afterwards and restore.

  • Loose dock connector in 2nd gen iPod touch

My iPod touch (2nd gen) won't charge because the dock connector is loose. I have two connector plugs, both work fine with my iPod nano. But neither works with my iPod touch. The connection feels loose. When I examined the connector in the iPod touch none of the pins looked damaged but all were dirty and dark, in contrast to the clean, shiny pins in my new iPod nano. I tried spraying electronics cleaner into the connector but that didn't help. I tried wiggling the connector but that didn't help. Any other suggestions? Is it possible to take apart an iPod touch and replace the connector? I'm sure I could take it apart. Getting it back together would be the hard part.

The problem is back, I restarted my computer and that didn't help. Looks like its time to buy a new iPod.
