Ipod touch not registering touch

the screen on my ipod touch isnt registering gestures at all. is there anyway to diagnose / fix this? will a full reset cure it?

You are on the right track. Try in order:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPOd from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

As roaminggnome stated, File > Transfer Purchases in iTunes will transfer purchases from the iPod to the PC. This must be done before syncing.
Also, if you are in the US, use iCloud to download previous purchases.
Going forward, make sure you have a backup. It is ultimately the end users responsibility to ensure the safety/integrity of the data on their computer, this includes media.

I have "clicked" something and now my ipod/itunes isn't working properly.
When I connect my ipod, it doesn't register in my drives folder. When I go into itunes, all the songs stored on my ipod are there, but are greyed out. I have tried to upload songs to itunes and this goes onto my itunes player but is not added to the songs already stored on my ipod.
I have done all the usual things, switched the ipod off and on, changed the usb ports, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, all to no avail.
All help would be greatly appreciated.

We certainly want to make sure you get the most out of the GPS, wplaxico! Was this tested primarily outdoors? When did this begin? Any other recent apps of updates installed when this started?

I have a Windows XP and everything else works in my USB ports but my iPod. My iPod works in other computers just not mine.

Since yours is a old PC, the iPod will run into timeouts,
Re-install iTunes, it may update the iPod device driver.
Try connecting the iPod to a USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC.
Disconnect all other USB devices, and dont use any USB hubs
Disconnect from the Internet
Stop the Antivirus software

Yet another no mount ipod touch

I have a problem. I tried a number of things to make this work including all (that I could find) suggested fixes.
I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled.
I restarted my Mac
I restarted my iPod touch.
When I connect my iPod touch and launched iTunes the iPod does not register. The iPod does not show up in Disk Utility (if it does). Here is the funny part. When I connect my wife's iPhone it mounts and shows up in iTunes. When I connect my wife's iPhone into her Mac it mounts and iTunes launches. When I connect my iPod touch into her Mac it does not mount and iTunes does not launch.
So, though trial and error I think it is safe to say the problem is with the iPod touch. This is a new problem too. My iPod is v2.2.1 (5h11). It is a first gen iPod touch.
So, does anyone have fix that works? Ideas?

Does it charge?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Try another cable
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.

This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. The apple store is my next step. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some extremely eye-opening solution or check. thanks though!

Register button not enabled in Kindle app on ipod Touch 3g

I downloaded the Kindle app, it synced OK to my new ipod Touch 3g (1st ipod ever, still figuring out how to use it). However, I am unable to "register" the app. Whether I am within range of a wifi network or not, if I open the Kindle app I get the "register now to get started" page, and there is a "register" button but it is greyed out and not available. Other links work, such as "don't have an amazon account? create one now" but following that isn't any help because I already HAVE an amazon account and want to use it. Any ideas what is wrong? It might be incompatible with the current version of software on your ipod Touch.

IPod Touch will not register

Synchs fine, etc... but every time I plug it in this morning, it wants to register it. I plug in my AppleID, it accepts it, fills in my info (if you put in the wrong password, it tells you so), it then asks if you want to get the free video sample, and then I simply click "Continue" or "No Thanks" (either way), and keep getting:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The requested resource was not found. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

I had this same problem. Tried a bunch of times but always got the same message. I have an ipod nano in addition to the ipod touch on the same machine so I thought that this might be the issue or that the itunes software was not configured with all up-to-date files. Removed itunes, apple mobile device support, and QuickTime and then reinstalled. I still had the same problem. I saw a post from someone else that said they were able to solve this by first logging into itunes store and then attempting to register. This worked for me. It was not a big deal that I could not register, just more of an annoyance. So I suggest trying to log into itunes store first before attempting to register.

Several times I entered my card number correctly, there always bounced up a screen saying my number is invalid! At the same time, I have received a message from the bank that a dollar had been charged from my bank account!

Does the website sutract money every time you download anything? If i know beforehand that when registering the iPod need exposing my credit card and need paying all the time, i won't buy it at all!

That mini charge of $1 will not get passed the +pending charge+ status, after it is used to check the status of the credit card. I'll bet it will not be on your final statement.
As for the failed verification, it may not be the card number, because the other information is also cross-checked. Make sure you have correctly entered your address and phone number (the ones on record with the card) and the CCV security code.
You can also contact the iTunes Store support team, to communicate with an Apple employee on such matters. The people in the forum are mostly just fellow users. You can do so through their support web page
