Ipod touch not working in itunes 12

Hello, I've just factory resetted my computer, and Itunes was deleted in the process. I reinstalled it, getting Itunes 12.0.1. Now when I plug my Ipod touch (4th generation) into my computer, it says that the ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed, please uninstall, and install a 64bit version of itunes. I do this, and it comes up with exactly the same problem. Any answers?

See

- I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • IPOD TOUCH NOT WORKING WITH ITUNES

    I am using:
iPod Touch 16GB 1.1.4 (With $25 Software Upgrade)
    Windows Vista Premium Edition
    iTunes 7.6.2
Whenever I connect my iPod, the device connect sound is made and it shows up in the my computer window, but it will not show up or sync with iTunes.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE FOLLOWING:
    Reseting the computer
    Reseting the iPod
    Using a different USB port
    Using a different cable
Erasing ALL of the iPod's contents (Yes I lost my $25 update as well)
Restarting the "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT" in the "systems" application
...As well as many other things, all with absolutely NO results.
I have tried to manage my ipod through other programs, nothing seems to work. I connected the iPod to a different computer and everything worked fine.
I ASSUME the problem has something to do with the iPod Touch's drivers; for whatever reason they might be corrupted or installed incorrectly, thus preventing the iPod from automatically reinstalling them as well as preventing the possibility of syncing.
My question is, how can I reinstall the drivers without having the iPod touch do it automatically?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    I fixed the problem myself.
If anyone else has this same problem and is looking to fix it, here is what I did.
I found this on another site:
"Okay well I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple trying to fix this problem. The guy I talked to seemed to have delt with this problem before. He tould me that Apple was getting numerous calls about the iPod touch not connecting with iTunes. So here is the solution that worked for me.
The first thing you must do it uninstall iTunes and Quicktime using the controll pannel, add/remove hardware, on your windows computer. Once you have uninstalled both of thoes programes go ahead and look for anything else that is Apple and uninstall them as well. There should be an Apple updater or driver that is very critical to uninstall, this was the cause of iTunes not recognizing the new iPod Touch. Next make shure you have the very latest update for Windows on your computer, you can check this on Microsofts web page. Finnaly once you are shure you have UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING that says Apple, iTunes, or Quick time restart your computer and MAKE SHURE THAT YOUR IPOD IS NOT CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER. Then download the newest version of iTunes and install it. Once the installation is complete go ahead and connect the iPod Touch and everything should work.
I am not shure if this will work for everyone but in my situation it worked. I hope it helps some of you out there!!"
That worked like a ******* charm. Hope this helps.

  • Ipod touch not showing in iTunes

    Anyone help?
On an imac with 10.6.1 Mac OS and iTunes 9.1.1
Recently the HDD failed and Apple replaced, but since then ipod touch not recognized in iTunes.
Have followed all the steps in the support document for resetting, rebooting, reinstalling etc. and ipod touch is recognized the first time after following this process, but then after that when I boot up my mac and iTunes a second time, it stops being recognized again. I cannot reinstall iTunes every time I want to sync my ipod touch!!! Anyone else had similar issues and solved?
    Thanks

I am having a similar issue. I have a 1st-generation iPod touch, and a MacBook running Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3) and iTunes 9.1.1. It's a bit old now and the WiFi isn't very good, but my iPod touch still works perfectly, except that it doesn't show up in iTunes, which I discovered yesterday when I tried to sync some new music. I got my iTouch G1 the first week they came out and it worked perfectly with my iBook G4 running Tiger, and also worked perfectly with my new MacBook running Leopard which replaced the iBook when its logic board bit the dust. I recently updated to Snow Leopard (about a month ago now), and now my iTouch doesn't show up in my iTunes sidebar, but a volume shows up in Disk Utility that could only be this iPod and things do happen when I plug in the iPod (the first time I connected it since I added some Snow to my Leopard, iPhoto opened and prompted a download of a screenshot I'd taken with the iPod). I'm mostly writing this right now because the support page pertinent to this issue is down due to some sort of Apple web maintenance and I'm tired of getting the same error message. I actually have everything on my Mac backed up, and when I installed Snow Leopard I just did a basic installation but have been thinking of going back and doing a clean wipe and install and then getting the iTunes and iPhoto libraries et cetera off of my external HD. Would this fix my problem? I figure that since my iPod touch's files and system have been constant throughout this, it must be some issue with Snow Leopard, however before I wipe everything and have to set my system up again from scratch, I would like to know if this problem would be fixed by doing that or if there is some problem inherent in Snow Leopard that needs to be manually fixed.

    Hi
though it was about time to update my music on my 1st gen iPod Touch, however, when i connected it to iTunes it does not show up.
    Is anyone able to assist?
I have tried hard resets and it doesn't work.

  • How to get Column Browserfor  iPod Touch to work in  iTunes 11

The Column Browser for an iPod Touch device displayed correctly in iTunes 10 but now seems disabled in iTunes 11.
Is there anyway to enable the Column Browser for an iPod Touch device in iTunes 11?
I use the Column Browser extensively for the Device management.
The iPod Touch is configured in iTunes to Manually Manage contents.
By the way, the Column Browser displays for my iPod Nano Gen 2 in iTunes 11.

So fiend, you have iTunes 11, WIndows 7 and are able to conjure up a column browser on your iPod classic using Ctrl+Shift+B?
What is it that you're doing 'right'?
Hhhmmm! My apologies, but since I believed we had already covered this point, I read your comment as does not work in iTunes - not "does not work on iPod Classic in iTunes". Two different things. Possibly, my confusion was your use of the word "lame". It implies that you believe I'm stupid. (Don't worry, I know I'm not!)
I thnik we have established that the column browser cannot be displayed on the Classic when it is connected to iTunes. But I think you'll find there is an alternative. See my response to Community_User at 4:07 this afternoon.

  • IPod Touch not working at all

Last night I was browsing the internet on my iPod Touch. While browsing it gave me the warning "Battery at 20%" . The browser locked up (as it occasionally does) and so I held the power/sleep button to turn it off. So after the screen went black, I went to turn on the iPod and it wouldn't turn on. I took it out of its case and the back felt warm. So since the battery was at 20% I took the chance that the battery might have died.
So I went to go charge it and when I checked it, it still won't turn on. I plugged it into my PC, no indication it was plugged in. I plugged it into my Mac, still no indication on itunes that there was a device plugged in. The only thing I haven't done is let it rest while not connected to a power source for 24 hours. So just incase that doesn't work, is there anything I can do to get it to work?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
When the charge is very low an iPod is not reconized in iTunes right away. I would advise leaving it connected to the PC or Mac for a few minutes to charge it a little.

  • Ipod touch not working after update

I just attempted to install the latest iPod touch software update via itunes. It downloaded and started installing and everything seemed normal. Then I got a weird error that said something along the lines of "Could not update ipod. Error 9" Now the ipod won't turn on at all, won't reset, and itunes doesn't recognize it. When I plug it into my pc (where it is synced), I get a windows bubble that pops up saying the device isn't recognized. When I plug it into my mac, nothing happens at all.
    Any suggestions?
    -CEJ

Hey everyone. I had this same issue (1st Gen iTouch crashed in the middle of the update with an error, then perpetually showed the USB cable picture and wasn't recognized by my PC).
I was flying West for Thanksgiving, and the prospect of not having my music was so terrifying that out of complete desperation, I borrowed my roommate's Mac to see if I could somehow magically finish the update there. For whatever reason, it worked!
I don't know if it was the fact that it was a Mac, an older version of iTunes, or what, but I was able to do a restore after downloading the new firmware on his computer (I think it was an old Powerbook G4), though I lost all my data. Still, it works now, and I was (thank God) able to listen to it on the plane trip after re-adding my music.
So I wish I could give more details, but at the very least, THERE IS HOPE! Maybe someone more daring and less busy than I can narrow down the variables, otherwise I'll see if I can figure more out when I get back home this weekend. However, I sincerely hope Apple takes responsibility and figures it out themselves before then. Given how serious losing your ability to listen to portable music is for most of us, I really can't believe that they haven't even deigned to address this issue on their own boards.
Anyway, happy Thanksgiving everyone, and hang in there.

  • Ipod Touch not appearing in Itunes using Windows 7

If your Itouch doesn't appear in Itunes try doing this:
The problem is, for some reason, iTunes won’t install the Apple Mobile Device software or service. Even if you extract out the AMDS installation files, it still fails. The SOLUTION is to take the software and service from Vista for AMDS and manually install it. Then, it will work!
First of all, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. You can download it from here. These instructions will NOT work for iTunes 8 or 9 anymore. If you’re unsure, just uninstall iTunes then re-install with the latest files. If you want to keep iTunes 9 and don’t want to upgrade to iTunes 9, let me know in the comments and I can get the files to you…I still have them.
Next, you need to manually copy the Mobile Device Support directory from a working Vista machine to your Windows 7 computer
Now, we need to install the correct driver for your iPhone / iTouch. Windows 7 incorrectly identifies the device as a digital camera. To fix this:
    - Plug in your iPhone / iTouch (don’t have iTunes loaded at this time)
    - Go to Device Manager (Click Start, right-click Computer, then click Properties. In the window that appears choose “Device Manager” on the left)
    - Scroll down and find “Apple iPod” or “Apple iPhone” or “Apple iTouch”. It will likely be under the “Portable Devices” category.IMPORTANT NOTE: If your device is already listed under “Universal serial Bus Controllers” and not Portable Devices, you can skip these steps and go to Step 7.
    - Right-click the Apple device and choose “Update Driver Software…”
    - Choose “Browse my computer for driver software” in the window that appears
    - It will ask you for a location; you want to Browse to this folder (location is the same in 32 and 64 bit Windows):
    32-bit and 64-bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    – Click Next
    - It should find the driver for your device; let it install that driver
Once you complete these steps, reboot your computer. Once you reboot everything should work exactly as expected!

  • Ipod touch not working - what to do?

    Hi,
I was given an iPod touch for my birthday, installed iTunes, charging the iPod, followed everything in the guide. I listen to a couple of songs, then turn it off (as you do!), then I turned it back on about 2 hours later, and the apple logo comes up really dim (not bright!) and it freezes. I reset the Touch, and now it won't come on at all!
    What should I do?
    Thanks!
    browna

    Three step troubleshooting:
    - Reset | hold the buttons on top/side of the iPod Touch until the Apple logo appears...if the issue persists...
    - Restore | connect to the computer you sync with, click on the iPod Touch under Devices within iTunes and click 'Restore'. If the issue persists...
    - Return/Repair. Contact AppleCare at 1800 275 2773 (US).

  • IPod Touch not working with Verizon fivespot modem

I cannot get my iPod Touch to work with my Verizon Fivespot hotspot. The hot spot shows up in the WAN settings, but when I try to reach the internet it says it is not available. The Touch works fine with my home hotspot. Any ideas?

Do other devices work with it? What says "not available"? Is it Safari when you try to connect to a website? If you go into the network settings what IP address is assigned to the iPod? Do wifif arc show on the upper left? Have you looked at the documentation for the Verizon product?

  • IPod touch not working on new upgrade of iTunes 7.7

I upgraded my iTunes to 7.7, the new version. Ever since I downloaded it, my iPod touch won't show up on my left-side bar of iTuens, and it even freezes my iTunes so I have to shut down iTunes (not my computer). I tried seeing if I can swith back to an older version of iTunes but I can't find it. What is wrong? Help!

That is the exact same problem i am having. Exactly on the spot. There is a major bug in this new version and others are having similar problems. I tried going back to the 7.6 version but that didn't work as my library data file was already written with 7.7 The only thing i can think of is wait till another version, as of right now i haven't been lucky in finding a solution. I am still working on it, though and will let ya know if i can solve it. So far i've tried all the solutions that helped in the past, and nothing
it does work with my other ipod so, it seems that iphones and ipod touch are the ones effected at this point. Some people have said that it deleted their library, but that hasn't happened to me so i have no idea whats going on.
