Ipod touch only plays through left headphone/speaker

my ipod touch first gen recently started only working through my left headphone, at first i thought it was the headphones but then i tried it with numerous other headphones and speakers etc and it still only plays through one.
I've reset, restored the ipod and tried everything if any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if my itouch is 2 months out of warranty? I don't think it's reasonable to ask me to purchase a new one for a headphone jack problem. I expect a 300.00 piece of electronics to last more than 14 months, call me crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion other than replace? The Apple Store in Orlando told me it would cost about the same as a new one to fix it. Please help!

  • Ipod touch only plays through one speaker when docked to car

It was working fine yesterday until I restored my touch and now this morning only plays through the left speaker. Ive read other topics with people that have this problem but no answer that fixes the problem.
I have a 8g touch and an alpine system in my car. The cord is fine because my old video works perfectly and the touch has no problem connecting to the computer.

hmmm sounds like a could be either a faulty connection in your alpine, or the ipod touch has a problem sending the signal through the USB Pin look into google search for this kind of problem, but I would try another cable or a new usb cable. either way it could be the connection to the audio pin section of the usb connector of your alpine.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • My Ipod only plays through its onboard speaker i want to use my headphones again help!!

My IPod Nano only plays through it speaker even when the headphones are plugged in.What can I do to fix this problem?

The earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.
If you do a forum search, you will find this same solution. If it does not work, you will need to take your iPod to an apple store or call the Apple iPod tech support if still under warranty or you have Apple Care.

I am also experiencing some problems with the new software version, I bought the Belkin TuneBase for my car 25 days ago it had been working fine since I upgraded my Ipod 2 days ago, you know that sometimes if you don't get good reception you can change to a diferent preseted station on this Belkin Transmitter but since this Ipod upgrade I can't change to a diferent station and also i can't disconect it like before because before it said you were ok to disconect and I'm afraid to return because perhaps afterall is a software problem.

What model iPod and iOS works and which does not?
Sometimes a 4G iPod will not fully sead in the dock because its case configuration is different that previous models.
Also, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility.
Have you checked the dock manufactuer's support stie for compatibility?
    Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Why does my 3rd Gen iPod Touch still play through the speaker when I plug my headphones in?

When I plug my headphones into my iPod, it plays through them, but it also continues to play through the built in speaker. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks

    - First see if it woks OK with another pair of headphones.
    - next, to rule out a software probem:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  It is liklely a problem with the headphone jack i the iPod.  There are third-party places that will replace he jack.

  • TS1382 why does my ipod only play through one headphone?

i tried other headphones although no matter what kind of headphones i use, the left headphone will only play. anyone know why?

If none of the 5 R's also help resolve this problem, it's likely hardware related with the headphone jack meaning you'll need to have the iPod serviced/replaced either by Apple or a third party service.

  • My ipod touch wont play through my docking station

hiya i have an ipod touch. aout a week ago it stopped working with my docking station. it wont play through the docking station speakers. ive tried two other ipods on the station and they work fine so its clearly a problem with my ipod. the ipod registers that its plugged into a charging source and starts playing music when its plugged in but through its own speakers rather then the docking station. i've tried doing a full factory reset and that didnt work. does anybody have any suggestions?

  • IPod Touch Only Plays Sound on Dock

I have a 4th generation (?) iPod Touch, 32 GB, not the newest iPod touch, but the second newest. It is completely up to date, and it has worked perfectly ever since my mother gave it to me when she upgraded to an iPhone 5. This morning, I plugged it into my MacBook (late 2009-model white unibody), which is also entirely up to date with newest OS and all software updates. It synced, and I waited until it told me it was finished, clicked eject, and unplugged it. I got into my car to go to work, plugged the auxiliary cable in like I always do, and hit play. It played two songs just fine, but a minute into a third song, it stopped producing sound. I looked down at my iPod, and there was no slider for the volume. I tried using the volume buttons, and they didn't do anything, either. I unplugged the auxiliary cable, but still no sound, volume slider, or volume button usage. I rebooted the iPod: still nothing. I got to work and plugged my iPod into my iHome, which uses a docking system rather than an auxiliary cable, and it works perfectly. I pulled the iPod off the dock, and it's once again giving me sound. However, I'm afraid this will happen again. My iPod didn't start acting up like this until after I plugged it in to my Mac to sync it. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? Quite frankly, I am stumped.
