Ipod Touch or iPod Classic Sound quality
Hi
I am considering geting either an iPod Touch or iPod Classic and was wondering if there is any difference in sound quality between the two?
Many thanks
Ken
I looked at the tech spec and could find no differences. I would not expect there to be much difference since mp3 are not that good anyway and the earphones have a great effect on sound quality.

1 iPod Touch, 1 iPod Nano (Brand New) & 2 iPod Classics Not Reconized
Hi,
I have 1 iPod Touch, 2 iPod Classic & 1 iPod Nano (brand new one)
Since the iTunes V9 update none of them will show up in Windows or iTunes.
I have tryed the 5 R's, wiping everything off the computer and reinstalling it, reinstalling iTunes and more!
Still nothing
Have any of you had the same problem and managed to solve it ??
Thanks in advanceSorry, I followed both guides and uninstalled everything - rebooted, reinstalled iTunes like your second link instructions said.
PC sees all devices fine in Windows Explorer (and makes the pling sound when I connect them, they just do not show up in iTunes.
(ipod nano, ipod touch 32GB, iphone 1st gen, ipad 1st gen)
Manually starting or restarting all itunes/ipod related services doesn't do a thing either, nothing will sync.
I'm at a loss. -
Some of my apps on both my iPad and iPod Touch no longer have sound. Others still do. I checked general settings. Any other ideas of how to fix this?
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

Is there any way to get an ipod running/ ipod nike to work with a first generation ipod touch or ipod classic?
We are talking about that Nike device. We have a iPod Classic (software version 2.0.1) and an iPod touch (iOS 4.2.1, an earlier model....maybe 3 years ago). When we plug in into the classic it says "the accessory is not supported) and when we plug it into the touch it says "no receiver required," but neither will load the nike+ running app. I believe it said that our iPod was incompatible with this app. Is there something we need to do to make it compatible? Get an updated operating system or a different app? That has also happened with a few other apps. Thanks!

I can't sync music already on my computer to my ipod touch; the ipod shows up under Devices in itunes but does not show buttons (Summary etc.) when I click on it. I've read through all the Help tutorials but none of them say what to do if the sync options don't pop up when you highlight the device. I've already spent way too much time trying to figure this out and it's driving me crazy! Thanks for any help you can offer.
This is correct. It will not show in finder. It is not an external storage device.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. Open itunes connect ipod, do not sync, click File>Transfer Purchases -
I have a brand new ipod touch 32gb ipod touch. Upgraded to ios 7. open music app but there is no radio tab to select!!! All online help just says, "just select it".
I have looked at the "More" part but again radio is not an option.
Can you help?Just wait a bit. Turn it off, then back on.
I don't know why, but after the update it doesn't show up right away.
When it finally does, you will find a red icon on the bottom of the screen, on the left side. -
My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help.
My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help. I even walked around when it asked me to. Also I have latest version of iOS. PLease help
Update: I seem to have fixed the problem! I went to the "summary" section of my iPod after clicking on the device on the left side of iTunes. I checked the box that allowed me to "manually manage music and videos" and applied this option. The songs are syncing! And, yay, they're playing on my iPod now! Hopefully, this helps anyone else who might have this problem. There might be other issues, but this is working for now.

Apple tip page for putting iPod in recovery mode.

HT4113 what do i do if ipod touch says ipod disabled connect to iTunes
what do i do if ipod touch says ipod disabled connect to itunes
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

I have purchased a Bose portable speaker to connect to my ipod touch, the ipod finds the speaker ok and the music plays whilst the ipod is next to it but once I start to walk away from the speaker the music stops, if i walk back towards the speaker the music starts again, you are suppoed to be able to walk around with ipod in your hand and play the music, change tracks etc. I bought the Bose speaker as someone I know already has one and showed me theres and how it worked, he can walk away from the speaker with his ipod touch no problem, so I dont know why mine wont, same speaker, same ipod, does anyone know
any bluetooth issues, can bluetooth go wrong, can you get it repaired ????? I'm baffled. ThanksHow far away are you walking? Bluetooth has a range of 10 metres - less if there are walls and other obstacles in the way.

IPod classic sound quality issues
Hi guys,
I understand probably it's too much early to discuss this topic but anyway I try to ask.
In order to the release of the new model (yesterday's event in USA)of the classic, anybody has any news about the sound quality complaints arised in the previous months?
I mean, anybody knows if the quality sound problems, due to the change of the sound micro-chip, have been solved in the new modelMany thanks in advance for the help.Excellent question, the answer to which I eagerly await. If the sound quality improves, I might purchase a 120GB, otherwise, there are now alternatives by competitors with 120GB capacity, similar form factors, built in FM radio, subscription music services, and wireless sync of the music library for the same price as Apple's 120GB. They don't have the sound stage issue as the 160GB Classic. There is even a 240GB model being offered by a competitor.
Too bad Apple didn't release a 240GB Ipod classic. Toshiba, Apple's hard drive manufacturer, announced a 240GB 1.8" drive on 9/9, coincident with the Apple Ipod announcements. I have a large and growing library of classical recordings as I explore the classical catalog, as well as many Podcasts. I could really use the space! I've input this request on Apple's Ipod feedback page and suggest that any like minded customers do the same. -
i bought a ipod classic but the sound quality sound really ****** and the volume is 2 low APPLE I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!
2 factors:
1. are you importing tracks at 128 bit (or less)?
2. are you using Apple earbuds or some other company?
Tracks at 128 or lower may sound tinny/am radio-ish.
Low-end earbuds may also sound "off"
128 bit is great for space conservation, especially on the smaller ipods (2-4gb), but the tradeoff is sound quality.
Since the classic has sufficient space, I would check iTunes prefs and reset track import quality to 256 or higher. Personally, I import at variable lossless. Typically runs between 950 and 1100 bit, which is close to CD quality.
