IPod Touch Overheating while charging and Using FaceTime

Hello everybody, well I had my iPod touch 4th gen for 3 months and today while I was charging my iPod and using FaceTime my iPod became extremely hot and a screen popped out saying Temperature: iPod need to cool down before you can use it. It had a picture of a caution sign and I had to wait 2 minutes to let it cool. Does my iPod have a problem, because I done this before but nothing like this ever happened. Thanks

Maye yes, maybe no. The only way to find out is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out.

My son's ipod touch is not charging because the screen turns white and it freezes up.  Trying to reset it and figure out the problem but don't kno what to do.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How can I resolve iPod Touch 4th gen charging and iTunes connection issue?

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation and the other day it stopped charging.  When I pug it in, it appears to be receiving a minimal charge to keep it alive, but isn't restoring the battery life and doesn't show that the battery is accepting the charge.  After plugging it in for a day, the battery was only partially charged to approximately 20%.  I've tried several USB cables and different plug-ins to no avail.
Then I tried to connect it to the computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Apple Device Manager and iTunes software, and resetting the iPod.  I've also tried holding the sleep and home buttons at the same time while connecting the iPod to the computer with iTunes software open.  Nothing seems to work.  I have other iPods/iPhones that connect to iTunes without issue, so it is isolated event with this iPod Touch.  I was hoping to restore the iPod to its original settings to see if that would do the trick, but am unable to figure out how without iTunes.  Any suggestions?  help!

    Not Charge
    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • My iPod Touch is not charging and will not sync with itunes

My Ipod touch was feeling really hot and then all of a sudden the screen turned white and started flashing with my apps still open but faded and unaccessible. My screen was a blurry like it looks on tv when you lose connection. Then the ipod kept making the charging noise over and over again and wouldn't charge. It then turned off. Then it put itself on the needs to be charged symbol but it was flashing and then it stopped showing up. I have tried everything-youtube, dfu mode,( it wont even sync to itunes) and it still wont turn on after hours of charging. The screen has been black for hours now. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks.

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try a reset (both buttons) and connect to computer and try to restore. If screen is still white you very likely have a hardware problems.

  • Ipod touch does not charge and sync/appear in Itunes or on my computer - But will charge when plugged into the mains?!

    Hi
I have a IPod touch 32GB, but im having a few problems with it.
When i plug it into the computer its doesn't charge or appear in ITunes and 'my computer'.  However when i plug it into the mains it charges!
Any idea what's happening the my iPod?!   Any help to save my precious iPod would be very helpful!

If the cable works from a wall charger, then I'd try a different USB port, verify your USB ports support USB 2.0 (may be a setting in BIOS), or try a different computer...
For the last test, if the computer has iTunes installed, DO NOT SYNCH your iPod!!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Curve overheated while charging and now won't turn on!

I charged my Blackberry Curve this afternoon and when I came back for it, I noticed it was very hot. I unplugged it and turned it off and left it alone. When I went to get it later, it would not turn on. I tried to charge it again, but nothing. I then tried to remove the battery, memory card etc.., and reinserted the battery, and still nothing. HELP ME! I'm on vacation!!!!

Mine did the same things but after I had it forf 13 months. Therefore Verizon will not replace the phone. It eats the battery. I bought a new battery, Verizon put it in, tried to charge the phone and it would barely charge in 15 min. Very hot, I left the store, and the phone got hotter and hotter. Tried to save some of my pics, etc. and the phone just died again. Burned up the new battery. Went right back to Verizon, they gave me the old battery back and put it in. Gave me my money back on the battery I bought. However, I had not bought the insurance and it it one month out of warranty. So they said, I could buy a new one at full price, or but a refurbished one until time for my contract to be up and then get a new phone. Looking for a new phone now since I am still paying for the blackberry data package each month. Go get it replaced as soon as you can. Think it's just a problem with the phone. I loved my phone until this happened. I am able to use my husband's old blackberry storm, but sure don't like it as much. Good luck!
