Ipod Touch Parental Controls?

I'm not usually fussy about these things, but too often I've found my boy (14 yrs) sleeping with his iPod Touch dialed into a toe-curling, hair-raising **** site. I'd like to say he's adept at covering his tracks, but I must say that Safari on the Touch makes it downright easy: I can't check his browsing history, I can't view his cookies, and I certainly can't set controls to keep him away from explicit sites (my last resort, mind you). So: two questions. First, previous threads on this topic have promised parental controls in 2.0 updates. Are they available? Are there any apps in the store (I checked and found nothing) that might help? Second, can cookies be viewed on Safari on the Touch?

as above 2. does offer it albeit pretty much a "blanket" restriction. Instructions below.
Set restrictions:
1 Choose General > Restrictions, then tap Enable Restrictions.
2 Enter a four-digit passcode.
3 Reenter the passcode.
4 Set the restrictions you want by tapping individual controls on or off. By default, all
controls are on (not restricted). Tap an item to turn it off and restrict its use.
Turn off all restrictions: Choose General > Restrictions, then enter the passcode. Tap
Disable Restrictions, then reenter the passcode.
NOTE:If you forget your passcode, you must restore your iPod touch software from iTunes.
See “Updating and Restoring iPod touch Software” on page 110.

  • My new (8/2012) iPod Touch: voice control suddenly activates on its own. Is there a reason for this and how do you get it to stop?

For reasons unknown to me, my brand new ipod touch keeps activating Voice Control. I am not pressing the home button or touching any controls. I can be doing nothing with it and it just kicks on, sometimes interrupting what is already going on (like listening to an audio book in the Audible app. Is there a reason for this and how do I stop it?

Press the Home Button 3 Times... then goto  >  Settings > General > Accessibility > Voice Over > Off
    Next... Try this...
Close All Open Apps and Perform a Reset...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

    Hi everybody:
Is there a way to have my Ipod touch control iDVD and Frontrow, I bought an early 09 imac and it didn't come with the remote.
    thanks
    Mike

    hey there Buffdaddy,
try searching the App store. there's over 25,000 available & surely someone has come up w/ a way to do what you want. check out Electronic House on line, they have lots of info for home theatre "geeky" stuff. also check out AVS Forum's Mac HTPC Chat.
    for starters, see this: http://www.electronichouse.com/article/7iphone_apps_for_your_hometheater/
what i've done is move iTunes media to a 500GB ext. FW HDD & ripped a bunch of my favorite DVDs & made them iPod compatible & play them back in iTunes(Full screen) to my 42" Sony HDTV from my 17" iMac CD, it also acts a server so i can also stream to my MacBook over the AEBS(n) network.
i've also seen the Apple remotes on eBay for $6.00-$10.00. or @ Best Buy & Apple for $19.00.
    good luck.

  • IPod Touch Voice Control?

Does the iPod Touch OS 3.0 support voice control (an app that comes with iPhone OS 3.0)?

Yes, but you need to buy a compatible headphones, such as the "Apple Headphones" in the Apple Store. They are $30, but also come with a built-in controller. I bought them, and love them, but unfortunately they are lost in the blackhole known as my room.
EDIT: Oh happy day, oh happy day! I just found my headphones behind my giant shelf! Hooray!

  • HT201304 I Pod Touch Parental Controls - lost Pin Code.

The password (4 digit pin code) to allow me into the restrictions area of my daughters IPod has been forgotten. I need to go in and reset some parental controls.
How can I reset this code?

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If you are up to file manipulation see the following but it may not work for iOS 6.1.3:

  • 1st Gen IPod Touch Volume Controls won't come up after a few minutes

I've got a first gen IPod touch and ever since I upgraded to the OS 3 family I've had a problem where after a few minutes of playing a video, if I tap the screen to bring up the volume controls, nothing happens. If I tap the screen in the first few minutes, the controls come up fine but after a few minutes a screen tap does nothing. Returning to the home screen and re-launching the video player didn't work either. I was turning the unit off and back on to correct the problem but after reading that a new "feature" of OS 3 pertained to volume control and headphone detection I tried a new tactic. When the volume controls would not display, I unplugged my headphones (the video paused when I did this) and plugged the headphones back in and the volume controls display auto-magically and would appear on with a screen tap for a few minutes then I was back in the same situation. Is there anyway a setting could be created to disable headphone detection and the "features" that it brings? The headphones work fine when the volume controls won't display so it doesn't feel like a headphone problem. Thanks.

Except for your keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer & repair disk & permissions from your Tiger DVD.
Repairing permissions from the Tiger DVD
Boot up from your Tiger Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

  • I have both an ipod touch and an ipad, what are some cool feauture/apps that I should use? Can I use my ipod touch to control my ipad playing itunes?

I just got the new ipod touch and I have an iPad 2, I am just look for some opinions and recommendations as to what apps, or cool features I can use between the two. Thanks.

Your problem is that everyone seems to be using the same iTunes store account (ID).  That's fine when a family wants to share purchased items, but that's the rub - everyone is tapping into the same account, so they can download whatever is available.
As for icloud accounts, icloud is designed for single user use.  If multiple users share the same icloud account then all their devices will be synced together - same emails, same contacts and calendars, same notes, etc.  There is no privacy or division of data in this scenario.  The usual advice is for everyone to have their own ID for icloud, and share the family ID for iTunes store.

  • Ipod touch volume control

volume control stuck/ not working...nothing recently changed any suggestions?  I'm not tech savvy, am at work and son texed me about this prob with his IPOD.  He's  a bit challenged.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ipod Touch Volume control's decreasing by itself

Ive just started to have a problem where the volume decreases right down to zero, when i try and slide it up it simply slides all teh wya back down! help please!!!!!!!!!!

Odd problems like this are often resolved by Resetting or Restoring (which erases the Touch and puts the OS back on). If that doesn't fix it, try Restoring again but do not re-load your last backup (i.e. set it up as a new iPod).

I was able to control my presentations through wifi... I wanted to use the bluetooth since internet connection is quite slow.. • Ipod Touch drops off network all the time

I am using a 2nd generation Ipod Touch to control Itunes on a Mac Mini. I am using the "Remote" application on my Ipod. I do not use the Ipod for anything else but remote control. There is no music on my Ipod.
I have the "stay connected" switched ON under remote settings in my Ipod. But almost every time I pick the Ipod up to use it it says:
"Can not connect to the local Network"
Then it generally does connect in a few seconds after I push a button. But sometimes I have to reboot the Mac Mini to get it to work. (I am not sure why this helps becasue I am using my Netgear Modem/router for my Network - not the Mac Mini....). My music library is on the Mac Mini.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    - Connect the iPod to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod then restore the iPOd.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so your can restore it.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Then try DFU mode

    - Then, let the battery fully drain and then charge and try again.
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
